Being pregnant before marriage is not a new thing in Nigeria. Go ask your parents and see if you or an older siblings were not conceived before marriage. It did not happen in my family but I know a lot of people who were “love” children.

@ SEASIDER: “the right thing?” what is the right thing? hurrying into marriage because a girl is pregnant for you and then finding out later marriage and courtship are two different things….my dear, the right thing is just marrying cos you love this person and you are ready…not cos she’s pregnant….period!

    • u-jay

      December 29, 2011 at 12:35 pm

I wonder why all the celebrity trad weddings featured here look so drab, they a nothing like Lagos trad weddings, is it that they don’t have as much money as we think to hire an events planner/ decorator or there are no events management companies in their villages and they can’t afford to hire one from Lagos. E.g, akis wedding, muma gees wedding, samklef, obiwon and lots more….anyway congratulations..

What a load of hypocritical BS! Pardon my french. Who amongst all these self righteous people can boast of being a virgin? Oh, so its ok to do the deed, just dont get pregnant abi? We need to change our holier than thou attitude abeg. God also hates hypocrites. Pscheww! Congrats to the couple jare. God bless u and be with you. Amen.

    • u-jay

      December 29, 2011 at 12:41 pm

being a virgin or not is not the point,i guess people are just makin an observation on d current trend not necessarily the index couple which they are free to. for the records there are still mature, beautiful, classy virgins out there……’s all about what you want

    • Wowza

      December 29, 2011 at 5:23 pm

So you think there are no virgins left in this world? The fact that you are not one does not mean there aren’t any. BTW fornication is wrong as well and no one is saying pregnancy before marriage is wrong while sex before marriage is right…

A woman truly is a woman’s greatest problem. See fellow women bringing the lady down all in the name of ‘moral values’ . You’ll never see a man act in this shameful manner. Would you have appreciated her if she had aborted the pregnancy all in the name of marrying ‘single’ and not ‘double’? So because you use Postinor/Condoms,you’re better right? As long as you’re not a VIRGIN,you have no ‘moral right’ to condemn. I’m in awe at the bollocks some people spew behind their PCs.
Congrats to the couple by the way.

    December 29, 2011 at 4:25 pm

OMG!!! y is it that Nigerians are so judgemental? people pretend and chat shit asif they dont practice sex before marriage…KMFT. i know few couples that always say, they will get marry when the lady is pregnant. please keep your stupid morals to yourself and focus on your own life. Yvonne being pregnant might just be a bonus from God, they might be planning the whole wedding before she even discover shes expecting. so people pls get your FACT right.. God bless the couple and safe delivery yvonne..x

    December 29, 2011 at 4:28 pm

    Congrats to the couple jare….
Enough hypocrites commenting on an issue that you never know till it happens to you. As someone mentioned most people were born as “love children” which is true. At least they got married; go and pray for yourself to meet someone that will love and marry you; and most especially you receive the fruit of the womb. Una think say e easy to carry belle…..go read stories of couples expecting, adopting and all….Then you will be grateful whether person carry belle now or after…..
Things happen for a reason so if ur engaged and u get pregnant u will abort it because u want show what????? Then after you hate urself wishing u didn’t do it…..
Please relax yourselves and be happy for the couple, am sure if one of them were related to you. You would say oh at least she fit born or oh at least he is not impotent.

  34. naveah

    December 29, 2011 at 9:03 pm

This is what is called a shot gun wedding, I pray for the sake of their child that it stands the test of time. I pray that they do really love one another and that they are not getting married to save face. In today’s world with all types of contraceptives available, there is absolutely NO reason any woman should find herself with child on her wedding day instead of AFTER all protocols have been observed by the man. What father doesn’t want to give his daughter away without shame? The people defending this have either been through it or have family members who’ve been through it or were product of such marriages. Call it hypocritical or judgement, dat na your own…what is right is right and what is wrong is wrong. People mention that folks did it back in the day and so? Today, tomorrow or in the future, it is and will always be a sign of disrespect to oneself and one’s family, full stop no comma!

Hypocrites! Who r u to judge?except u were wedded as a virgin or will be wedded as one,u got no moral justification to condemn cos in the eyes of the creator u r not different. Having said that,i would like to add that it’s not a good sight to see a pregnant woman veil up her face on her church wedding day!merry xmas y’all

I don’t care if she got pregnant in or out of wedlock! It is their lives. It is their love lives.if he didn’t want to marry her, a pregnancy won’t have convinced him. Fornication is as much a sin as JUDGING. I think the bible dedicated ample time to frown at JUDGEMENT. All I see is a beautiful couple on their wedding day.and I know they put it out here so people can see their joy and hapiness. Before u use ur VIRGINITY to scorn @ others, remember two things…your bible puts fornication and lying at the same level so u r in no way better than them.secondly, that pregnant lady with all her pregnancy induced emotions will probably read your wicked judgements. This is one of the prettiest pregnant ladies I have seen in a while. They look really good and I have a profound respect for Samklef right now. Happy married life.

Lets help ourselves pleaseeeee.

Me I must comment oh, and I am not a holy holy oh, but why not get married before the pregnancy is so far along, why wait till the baby is about to pop b4 u wed? Its a bit distracting and shameful to the family if you ask me sha oh….and I hope he was not brow beaten to marry her mafia style , bcos that will be really bad. Anyhow oh, congrats to them.

I dont know what Prophet Muhammed would say, or what Buddah etc cause I dont follow their principles but I wonder what Jesus Christ would say about this (both all the comments and the situation)?!

I think for me personally all that matters is what He (Jesus) would say. Focus on your life and let every man work out his salvation. The deed is done, the baby is on the way but Christ has not come yet. Meaning, we still ALL have the chance to right our wrongs (both the wrongs considered as great and small by ‘man’).

I wont take the seat of judgement and pass on a judgement because I, myself would be judged on that day. However, I’ll live my life with the help of the Holy Spirit as pleasing as possible before God and I advice you(everyone) to do the same. In this day and age, people cannot claim ignorance as an excuse for anything because, we have all heard or have been adviced on what is right and wrong.

    So please, celebrate with them.
