Nice interview. I liked it though the interviewer was acting to ajebutterish for my liking. I am tired of naija women and their fake accent and hair weave. No originality.

Na wa o — Why is it that when someone speaks English with the accent they are comfortable in, that means they are forming.. I abeg people.. free the girl jare.. amebos and gbeboruns.. e be like say the girl dey always focus too much on the interviewer, but again, if it works well for her, make una free am..

OK, i don’t understand why people are complaining about the girl’s phonetics and not about the guy. What’s with the Britico Accent? Anyhoos, i have no issue with either. It’s people who have never left the shores of Nigeria or only being on vacation to the UK or US that then develop an accent that i have an issue with. If you’ve lived in either country for years, your spoken english changes!!.
Well done Kalu, i was pleasantly surprised by you coherence.

I LOVE YOU KALU….

@ Baby Dee: Re Kalu’s ‘britico’ accent, he spent a chunk of his growing up years in the UK and so I guess, it makes sense. Plus, he’s a real middle class UNN campus pikin..when middle class was middle class in Naija and we all had great crisp diction without even stepping out of MMI airport….BTW nice interview, his blog is awesome and he always comes across as one with great upbringing, intelligence and charm. Ladies, this is one u’ll definitely wanna take home to mama n papa…lol

Calm down folks
Interview took place in Houston, so obviously the lady has lived out there. I’m 30 and been out of Nigeria since age 10, I dont even know what I sound like, but if I were to be in her place, I’m sure folks would think I was forming. The lady sounds like most of my Nigerian friends that grew up here or lived here for over a decade…Normal!
Kalu grew up in the UK actually if I remember correctly, and moved back in his teens to UNN campus, and was an English major, if I remember reading his blog yrs ago.

By Caribbean standards, he’s average looking (he looks like a former co-worker of mine, except that his eyes aren’t hazel) but I do like his acting skills and I can actually understand him when he speaks….others in Nollywood could take a lesson from him.

LWKMD……I BET YOU, THE GIRL DOESNT KNOW WHAT SHE IS DOING, APART FROM THE FACT THAT SHE NEEDS TO VOICE OUT THE LINES SHE IS BEING PAID TO DELIVER. Other than that,…..forget that, she doesnt have a clue of how her body language is perceived ( when she watch am,or when her friends yab her, she go know), its the magnet syndrome ( see a fine boy/girl, you get excited and begin to smile from teeth to ears, and pull all the stunts ever…hoping he is feeling u as well). wink wink. Leave the girl jor, boys dey do am too.
