BN Bytes: Mona on Love! Monalisa Chinda covers Vanguard Allure’s 2012 Valentine Edition

Nollywood actress Monalisa Chinda graces the cover of the 12th of February 2012 edition of Vanguard Allure – the Valentine Edition.

In her interview, she talks about her marriage break up, her future plans for love and marriage.
Excerpts from the interview:
When asked about the breakup of her marriage and if she would have done things differently
…I would do exactly the same thing. I would walk out. Marriage is not a bondage. You are meant to enjoy your marriage. I’m not saying that marriage is completely ruled in my life. I will definitely get married but pray that I will not find myself in the same situation I found myself because if I did, I’m going to take a long walk

When asked about society’s expectation that a woman should “endure”
It all depends on your self worth. If you are truly a woman who has self worth, you can’t just stay in a place and be unhappy.

Her “Future” Man
I’d look for honesty, compassion and importantly, the fear of God.

Advice for young actresses your job professionally, don’t mess around, be careful, love and obey your husband.

okay so i quote” love and obey your husband” and “It all depends on your self worth. If you are truly a woman who has self worth, you can’t just stay in a place and be unhappy.“ and “I would walk out. Marriage is not a bondage”…. so how do you OBEY YOUR HUSBAND AND ENDURE IN YOUR MARRIAGE – BUT STILL WALK OUT – AM CONFUSED

Obey husband? what is marriage, primary school? What year is this, 1912? in the modern world today, a man NEEDS a strong woman. Gone are the days when all the financial and decisions burdens could be born by one person, no matter how strong they are. Strong marriages are strong partnerships. They listen to each other, allow proposals and suggestions, decide together on what’s best for the family. It is all this obey your husband mentality that we give to our daughters that cause half the problems in marriage!

A woman can decide to be married as many times as she wants (if actually the suitors are all lined up in wait for their turns) and at the same time divorced as many times in that order… But the fact remains she’s head-blank about what she wants in marriage and her kinda man too. A woman who thinks the way Monalise did, should have been able to dicern the true person in the man she wants to follow to the alter to say ‘i do’ with. So, ladies, if you think you can’t endure loveless marriage, try being single for life…
