Fighting Terrorism: Nigerian Army Unveils 277-Man Anti-Boko Haram & Terrorism Special Force

Published

 on

In a bid to bring an end to the deadly activities of the radical Islamic sect, Boko Haram in the country, the Nigerian Army has graduated a 277-man anti-Boko Haram and terrorism Special Force.

The new force comprises of 40 counter-terrorism officers and men; 18 officers and 11 soldiers; three officers and 7 Air Force men, and one leading Arm of the Nigerian Navy. There are also 106 Nigeria Defence Academy cadets; 21 Ranger/Special Warfare Instructors; and 49 specialists in Special Warfare.

According to a source from the Defence Headquarters in Abuja who spoke with SaharaReporters, the Nigerian Armed Forces is actively tackling the Boko Haram insurgency and terrorism attacks and would successfully contain the sect despite challenges.

He said that their military might and strength are enough to overcome the insurgency, but that the trend towards enhancing their capacity will continue.

“I am doing this deliberately to prove to you that we are not what you think we are, based on how arm chair critics have been using your medium to be attacking the military, seeing nothing good in our serious commitment. Today we have done with the Special Forces; we trained 40 counter terrorism officers and men, 18 officers and 11 soldiers, three officers and 7 air force men, and one leading Arm of the Nigerian Navy. We have 106 cadets of NDA. 21 of Ranger/Special Warfare Instructors, 49 in Special Warfare,” he said.

He requested for the cooperation of members of the public in providing useful information that can lead to capturing the members of the sect. To debunk rumours of non-performance in the Nigerian Military, he offered a video footage of members of the special force.

“These people are not living in the sky; they are renting apartments in our society and leaving usual life,” he said. “Let [the public] be reporting such unusual activity and you will see how the fight will be accelerated. I am doing this deliberately and out of our discipline and practice, because I am angry with what I used to read about us by Nigerians in your medium.”

Are you satisfied with the steps taken by the military? Do you think this is the best way to combat the insurgence of Boko Haram attacks in the country or do you have other suggestions?

Yes, the fight against unpatriotic elements has taken fair course. Those who hate the nations Army, police & intelligent service personnel, kill innocent lives at wl, must be dealt with accordingly. -Psychological effect of exposing the sponsors wld be an added advantage in fighting the elements.

The army should’t brag about this as it hasn’t really come to light and the men are yet to be tested on the field. The Americans over a decade has spent billions of dollars and wasted thousands of lives in pursuit of same course ( afghanIstan) without winning the battle.

Udenyi Ekagu:. Boko Harram is simply an Antichrist sect, who thought it is their appointed time to destroy the world but they are wrong just as Jesus usually say, who will say when Jehovah has not said, Nigerian GVT should spend more money to install crime-detection camera in all the notable cities to complement the effort of the Nigerian military and God with the help of the Christians prayer against them all over the world will wipe them off the planet earth including the sponsors and their family lineage

Boko Haram is an Idea… and u can kill an Idea with guns… Ask america. You kill an idea with a better idea that offers more. like the one the west sold to Africa a 100 years ago, it was called Freedom

Kerry, Dat depends on wat u call an idea in ur house or field, d western u mentioned came with education, development of our b/4 hidden natural resources. Bt ur frnd Boko haram offered Nigerian bombardment, suicide bombing and targeting mainly Christian gathering. Is dat what ur teachers taught u is d meaning of an idea? Or u are stylishly telling Nigerians u are happy with what is going on in Nigeria today. Pls Kerry try to think b/4 u air anything next time

I schooled in an army barracks and have high level of confidence in the abilities of the army to contain this BH insurgence. Apart from their unequalled discipline in service, they have often performed creditably well in all peace keeping operations when involved. I believe they need our prayers and cooperation in reliable infomation supply. While we sleep in our comfortable houses, they risk their lives protecting us. They at least deserve our respect.

one word “Rubbish.” Another tactic to loot funds. the north eats up more than its fair share of blood shaing, money, oil and so much more. I think its about time that Southern Nigeria stop, supplementing and catering for these people. No one nigeria bull, because that aint reality. Sometimes I wished Awolowo had kept his promise when he promise that southwest would leave nigeria if the east left. Chief Obafemi Awolowo had stated that “If the Eastern Region is allowed by acts of omission or commission to secede from or opt out of Nigeria, then the Western region and Lagos must also stay out of the Federation”. I know definitely we all would have been better off, if some men had kept their words. anyways, this i believe is absolute nonsense , they created boko haram -which has no true face- but the sponsors the government knows. So how they gonna stop it, by killing and arresting innocent people? God where are you, please help us do to these corrupt leaders what ghana did to the corrupt leaders. Amen.

Ʊ guys are senseless. Ў☺ΰ are telling people Ў☺ΰ want to fight how Ʊ want to fight them? Are Ў☺ΰ telling them so dat D̶̲̥̅̊ε̲̣̣̣̥γ̲̣̣̥ find a solution to ur schemes or what? Secondly, I didn’t see police in all the people mentioned. Don’t police use guns or D̶̲̥̅̊ε̲̣̣̣̥γ̲̣̣̥ are angry that the check points are withdrawn or it’s just another way of showing ur assumed superiority of military to the NPF. Nigeria has more psychological problems than physical ones.

my suggestion is that the government should name the sponsors of the group, and by punishing the source of funds for these people, then bh can be stopped. I believe that politicians who created and funded these groups are still in office, and dont want to be outed, but they must with God’s help. As for this nonsense training, who gives a hoot, this ish aint nothing, just another ways for these corrupt leaders to try to fool us. Infact sha i want a military government, no more democracy, cuz it doesnt work for nigeria.

I don laugh die, I thought I was the only one that saw it. The video actually looks like a Ghanian action film. I find this effort foolish but thats just my 2 cents. good luck to them taking knives to a gun fight.

The truth is to defeat boko haram you don’t need gun men, well they secondary.you need people who can hack computers, bug houses,Spies , you need very intelligent people..except if all they want to do is point and kill and above all you need to find their sponsors and not just that, the presidency needs to have the balls to persecute these sponsors cos they are obviously in government. Once you cut off their sponsors they will crawl back to the hole they came out from..
Secure the borders especially those that connect with Niger republic which is up there in the north. This is what the SSS should be doing but Alas..
Believe it or not there are boko haram members among these military guys..
    Adios!

i beg no be for my sake jare, i no dey for naija sef. I dont trust anything the 9ja goverment does anymore, we had to depend on uk to punish ibori, when nigeria just gave him a pat on the back. These military guys are just goin to continue where the stupid nigerian police stopped and keep murdering innocent people in thname of finding boko haram and its leaders, when the leaders are the politicians that sent them on an empty errand. so my dear i dont care anymore, i just pray that God helps provide us a true leader with integrity, and expose all the evil doers.
