This past weekend, on Sunday, 15th July, 2012, the Bank of Industry, Nigeria sponsored a massive opening event “New World Nigeria Showcase” at the G-Live Centre in Guildford, Surrey.

The event, one of three scheduled for this summer, saw Nigeria showcase the best in business, arts and culture to the rest of the world, as the likes of Nollywood legends, Olu Jacobs and Justus Esiri performed in the stage play “The King Must Dance Naked” by acclaimed director and scriptwriter Fred Agbeyegbe.

To round up the night of festivities, Nigerian music superstars – 2Face Idibia, Tiwa Savage and Naeto C performed some of their hits to an excited audience, and were later joined on stage by The Nigerian Diasporama All Star Band featuring Asa, Dele Sosimi, Tony Allen and Keziah Jones.

All the artists will be back for a Nigerian cultural extravaganza at Nigeria House, Theatre Royal in Stratford, London between 19 July to 12 August. This time they’ll be joined by the likes of King Sunny Ade, M.I, Seun Kuti, Jesse Jagz, Wande Coal, Bez, Brymo, Ice Prince, Waje, Wizboy, Weird MC and many more.

The 2nd event will also showcase other Nigerian creative arts such as Nollywood films, arts and crafts, and fashion exhibitions over its 4 weeks. Top Nollywood Stars Joke Silva, Segun Arinze, Keppy Ekpeyong Bassey and Bimbo Akintola will also join in the festivities.

Wole Soyinka’s play, “The Lion and the Jewel” will be staged from the 30th-31st July, while Fred Agbeyegbe’s drama “The King Must Dance Naked”, will be performed again on the 4th of August.

So great to see the pioneers of Nigerian film industry (Olu jacobs, Segun Arinze, Keppy etc). They are what I call TALENTED individuals not all these illiterates that have dominated Nigerian movies these days. E.g tonto dikeh and her likes who can’t speak correct english to save their lives……….Ugh!
