Sorry but Dbanj needs to hang up the mic, he is done. PS all this collaboration with hip hop stars is not that big of a deal. If i wanted to listen to hip hop, trust me drake, lil wayne, Future, Jay-z, 2-chainz, French Montana, Kendrick lamar is who we will be listening to, rapping all their garbage and jaguns. I listen to naija songs 24/7 because of what it brings to the musical table. The ryhthm, rhymes and the fact that i relate to what is been song. This kat (dbanj) left his bread and butter to collab with don jazzy who brought him to the top with his beats, lyrical flow and slangs that we all love and relate to. I am not soory am rich, am sorry your broke is about to be Dbanj’s national anthem if he does not humble himself and go link up with a nigerian producer that knows what he is doing. sorry still don jazzy.

FYI am a yoruba lad, living in the U.S. and i also dj, so i am not just ranting, I am only calling a spade a spade. listen to dbanj previous albums and the new songs he is coming out with. then take a moment to listen to the hit upon hits mavin record is bringing out. one constant btwn mavin, mo’ hits and the tons of bangers that they produced is don jazzy. i mean look at D’prince, the dude is ok but yet he is on all the hit songs that whether we like it or not is better than all dbanj songs after mohits. the last great song dbanj came out with is oliver twist which was produced in 2011, thats like an oldies in today’s market. any ways let me get back to work. peace.

I don’t care where you live or what you do. I see no objectivity in your post. How dare you even compare Dbanj and D’prince? Are Mavins any better than when they started? Sure your’re not just a 10 year old keyboard warrior?

Lol @ mavin bringing out hits, which ones o. Which endorsement since dbanj left? Dbanj isn’t doing bad at all, it’s those of us who miss d old mohits that over criticize n over analyze dbanj since d split. Let’s get over it, they arent coming back together. IMO, dbanj is doing waaaay better than mavin is doing without him, check d stats. Don baba is losing money.

d’prince – ife, birthday, amarachi, banana, goody bag etc i can play on the dance floor. dbanj Ibadi E, Why You Love Me, Oyato, Cash Flow, Bachelor etc i cant play on my ipod. truth be told dbanj’s standard has dropped by a mile. i am not don jazzy’s fan or dbanj’s fan, I AM A MUSIC FAN PERIOD. call it what it is, i know you like the dude but he has fallen off, i remember when dbanj held down the fort. nobody could come near, a se, we didnt know he had a magician (don Jazzy) covering his behind. And for the correction comparing dprince to dbanj right now is not far fetched. I kid that no matter what dbanj sings now, he will always out shine him is Wizkid. Dbanj no fit talk where wizkid dey. total annihilation.

I cant play any knew dbanj’s song on the dance floor, no body will dance to the crap. trust me i have tried, so before you sling mud and start insulting, take another listen at the songs and be objective; dont be influenced by personal prejudices.

I am not hating, i could care less what happens to any of them.

      June 12, 2013 at 8:56 pm

Typical Nigerian, if its not TUNGBA TUNGBA OR KPANGOLO tracks like Kukere or Limpopo it is not a good song(A good Nigerian song must be one you can dance to). If you cant play the song on the dance floor it is a bad song right?, no wonder our artists just sing the same crap week in week out (Champagne, your backside, your waist, she sabi roll waist) and add some beats we can dance to and yes perfect Nigerian music. Its cos of people like you Mr Dj that our industry produces artists that dont even write their lyrics. enter the studio, get a good dance beat and freestyle shit on top, and Nigerians will dance to it. Any time D’banj releases a song, all the haters become music analysts. The guy is going from strength to strength, so you guys should keep your irrelevant rants to yourselves, cos they are what they are “IRRELEVANT”

    • hmm

      June 12, 2013 at 9:23 pm

I am sorry what is the difference between this and what you described as mediocre Nigerian music?…is it not the typical American hiphop beat …and the lyrical content is still champagne, women, material stuff, money etc…….so because you dont like Naija music you think Hip hop/western music is somehow superior?. or is it the artist collabration?….Last i checked most wetern artist also use this typical hip hop/club beat so that people can play it in clubs and they make money….the same way we have mediocre hip hop, trap and r&b music…is the same way we have mediocre Nigerian/club music and some creative Nigerian songs(Bez, asa, nneka, waje , darey, praiz and so on)…..Im indifferent to dbanj , i prefer ..why you love me and oyato to this…..

I agree with La-Keezy 100%. Yes, Dbanj is getting endorsement deals, rolling with Hollywoods finest but the music he is churning out now, cannot be compared to what he and don jazzy were putting out before. But Dbanj seriously needs to do something fast. His music has run down and he needs to go back to the drawing board.

  11. Teni

    June 12, 2013 at 5:55 pm

@La-Keezy,whether ur from Yankee or ur from space,u need to admit that ur write up is extremely a biased one.Did u jus say D’prince’s songs i.e Take Banana (a dumb song in which take banana were basically the only wordings in that song) or Goody Bag(what the hell was that song abt)…..Did u jus dare type that these songs are better than D’banj post-mohits songs?R u flipping kidding, jonzing or dreaming? And u claim objectivity in ur statements, right? How pathetic?Any right thinking person will atleast take Top of the World and Why you love me over these above mentioned D’Prince’s songs. Its so clear in many of u that u can never in this world appreciate wotever D’Banj does anymore ‘cos he’s not with Don Jazzy.Who is Don Jazzy by the way?Is he God plus is he indispensible?Wot lyrical flow did he give D’banj that u are emphasizing?Did u hear Don Jazzy’s voice in evry single D’banj’s songs that he released whilst at Mo’Hits?Hw much does he say even in the ones u heard his voice in?Who gave rise to those slangs? When did it become Don Jazzy who initiated the slangs?R u sure u are not confused?Yes,u have a right to ur opinion but when next u want to state ur opinion esp when it comes to D’banj of which ur clearly biased, pls get ur facts right before u get behind any keyboard to type ur comments.Evry single thing this dude does,u all wld pounce on him!Kilode?Isn’t he a human being and doesn’t he have a right to take some decisions?Hw many ppl knew that he and Don Jazzy had practically equal stakes and shares in Mo’hits?Evryone thot Jazzy was basically in charge! We only found out the real deal btwn them and their positions after the break up yet D’banj kept respecting Don Jazzy to the whole world. He stayed humble and all of a sudden, some Nigerians shout he is proud,he is this,he is that…..Hw many ppl wld av stayed humble and loyal to Don Jazzy the way he did esp in this 21st Century?Geez!Leave this dude alone. If u don’t like him or his music, can’t some of u do urselves a tiny favour by ignoring any post tagged ‘D’Banj’???

I don’t see any crap in wot he has been singing since he left Don Jazzy. The first song he probably released after he left Don Jazzy was Oyato. That’s more like a slow slong, far from his usual fast songs. The fact that its not danceable does not equate it to crap.I went for Top Ten Mic Mc’s last Xmas and a good percentage cld not believe how much they were moved when D’Banj got on stage to perform that same Oyato with his harmonica. We all were anticipating his usual fast club bangers but he came out with that and I see abs nothing wrong in that.I was even a bit impressed by his voice in that song and his harmonica tune was toooo maddtttt. Many wordings in that parrticular song make a lot of sense esp the proverbs/adages.That aside,Bachelor and Cashflow were not bad even tho’ I will take his more recent ‘Why You Love ME’ song over those two.The intro for that song was particularly amusing. His Top of the World was more than satisfactory and very much accepted by many at large so really, wot crap has he actually been singing. Its very simple, many are still so sentimentally attached to his team work with Don Jazzy whilst at Mo’Hits and for that singular reason,he is being criticised for evry single move he makes which ofcourse is understandable only that regardless of ur criticisms, ppl shld think really deeply before concluding……@La Keezy,Mr Man u seem so biased. It tells in evry line of ur write up.Don Jazzy the magician, did u say?In wot way cld he have been covering D’Banj’s behind other than his beats which was his duty as the producer by the way?Not all songs are danceable so u need to understand the diversity of music and ofcourse its different genres. The fact that more ppl tend to dance to D’Prince’s songs or Wizkid like u said makes ur general conclusion a very watery one as regards ur general rating of D’Banj as a whole.Wot makes u think music is the only thing that sells D’Banj? The same songs of his that u listed above which u can’t play on ur Ipod or whateverare the same songs ppl mimed to all thru his performances at Industry Night some 2wks ago or so.A show that is usually free was put at 2k b’cos D’Banj was performing and there was no hesitation whatsoever from the guests…..My dear, leave D’Banj alone and let him do his thing whilst u do urs.

Yawn……..bore…..boring…bored!!! Banji stop disturbing the airwaves please. The only time i would listen to this is in the following scenario “Living in a face me i face you room, at 3am, there’s no light and it’s hot as hell, as in even the plastic hand fan i’m using is blowing hot air. The mosquitoes are not even trying to dodge anymore.. they are just doing azonto in the air at the feast they are about to descend on. Just plain miserable, and there’s no sleep coming; might as well forget about sleeping ‘cos the mosque in front of the house is going to start Allahu Akbar at 5am so let me just hum the most depressing song i can think of. In comes “blame it on the money: i’m rich, sorry cos you’re broke” in most annoying nasal voice i can come up with.

Omo i chopped insult for voicing my opinion, na ya o, so this is exactly my point about all thing Dbanj as of lately, See i am not saying he was never good, all am saying is the eja(fish), does not taste the same as it used to. So he signed durella about a month ago, produces a song that we are all trying to kill each other with the insults over here and next thing his new artist durella is saying you stole the song from him after he told you to listen to it and you(Dbanj) urged him not to release his version. listen listen to Durella – Blame it on the money, now i already know what you are thinking, either durella is lying or dbanj version is better to you or he made the song better, for what ever reason, if i am in dbanj’s shoes i do not want to shit where i live(namely his record label) even if he really stole the song from durella which I dont know, should he not have better managed the issue in house and not let durella get so frustated to start jumping all over the world saying, his boss stole his own song. My point is dbanj’s new move just has a bitter taste. any how its all good, and for all you folks insulting to get your point across please go grab a dictionary or a book or something to help you vocabulary, no be everything go result in disrespectful talk. it might make you feel better, but it does not make you look good or sound educated. it makes you sound and look insecure.
