Ordelia 2013 Collection Lookbook - BellaNaija - July2013026Looking for a great brand that mixes multi-functional casual wear with today’s style? Then check out the lookbook from Nigerian design label Ordelia.

According to the brand, owned by Ifeoma Aigbe,  they aim to create profoundly designed clothing that sits well with body basics, character type, gait and mood in mind. Their collections fuse classic, chic, Afrocentric, retro and ethnic styles that stand out. According to the creative director, “Ordelia woman is confident, chic and loves her fashionable and stylish self. We do not compromise the architecture and personality of the Ordelia woman when we make cloths for her. She is liberal, dignified and unpretentious, and so are great clothes from our stable. There’s great attention paid to details.

The collection has a lot of feminine pieces like knee length dresses with asymmetrical lines, lace tops, frilly dresses and 3-quarter trousers.

Good collections but the models are not ‘werking it’

The models’ poses are distracting from the collection, and NOT in a good way.

Nice designs, I’d totally wear all of them, but gosh some of them shoes look to be of poor quality (eg te silver pair)! Kinda detracts from the overall outfit IMO

nothing special about the clothes, looks like something women without fashion would wear.. definitely wouldnt be caught alive wearing this. #just saying

these clothes are wearable as in what a woman will wear basically. clearly the brand is a fast fashion brand like zara, next etc and not a ‘luxury’ /couture label. so my question is, if u wont be caught dead in what basically is today’s trend in women’s fashion, what would u be caught alive in? fishnet?

stop ranting rubbish…..you wont be caught dead cos the clothes are ugly or fabrics are of low quality or what? your likes are just bloody killjoys who have nothing better to offer society…..next time do a brain check before you vomit utter rubbish from your mouth…..and no u dont need to like the clothes cos diff styles appeal to diff people but we know the clothes are nice but your comment is utterly stupid and baseless…

I refuse to completely judge the pieces based on these pictures.I feel like the models were not able to bring the clothes to life. kinda feel bad because I know A lot of time and effort has been put in. ‘I guess’ with better models it’ll all look better.
    PS: This is my Opinion.

Exactly! Lovely clothes but “wrong” models, and maybe even “not good enough” photographer.

presentation is not very good. the makeup is too much. The finishing is poorly done that I can even see some threads. The clothes need to be steam ironed. Seeing soo many creases is distracting and prevents me from appreciating the clothes. The collection is not very cohesive as well. The models are rather distracting and detract from the clothes. Hopefully more work can be done next time. Good try.

the clothes are amazing .. love the structure the simplicity the fact it can really be dressed up or down … however the phography is poor and the accessories .. get rid of them lady gAga shoes ..for the lack of a better word … but wow for a first collection i loooooooooooove it thanks bella for showing this xx

well cut…some of the clothes should’ve been properly ironed.

The clothes needs serious ironing, plus the models were not giving life the clothes.

Impressive for a debut collection and each piece is wearable.

i totally agree with mama on this…People are so funny…someone is doing something good, productive and making good use of their talent and some unproductive people are making stupid comments…which one of you with negative/ugly comments above have gone this far…i am not staying do not critic (we all need feedback) but some comments are uncalled for. Give the designer constructive criticism for the next time around.
I do agree the models are not top notch but it the outfit that matters; maybe next time have headless models and that should make some of you commenters happy.
I know people in the US who will kill to be wearing one of these…as always many Nigerians will rather praise foreign designers than their own designers making true the saying “there is no glory at home”
I love majority of the outfits, the use of colour and different materials is appealing. They look really comfortable with a mix for office, play or church.

Nice but not cohesive enough. The designer still has a lot of work to do but good job overall

    July 24, 2013 at 12:30 pm

@ Omonaija, thanks a lot. How can you say you wont be caught dead wearing them. Like seriously??? What will you be caught alive wearing?

People hide behind a system and kill other peoples joy and effort.Criticism is very good but do it constructively, don’t make people feel so bad about themselves and their work because of your negativity. Some people can never see or say anything good about another person. Back to the matter, the clothes are wearable and good color mix but it can be much better next time

most of these designers want cheap labor, they would rather pay 10-30k for models who know nothing about photography than pay 50-100k to models who would simply give perfection to their hard work. well the above pictures and comments are consequences of cheap labor, i don’t feel sorry for her. Nigerian entrepreneurs should understand that for them to make money, they have to spend money, while the models should be less desperate for jobs.

tia do you realise that this is a debut collection from a young lady …where is she to get 100k to pay professional models?? if she is just starting out.

  27. Mariaah

    July 24, 2013 at 2:13 pm

Me thinks the designer should have done simple styling without and the funny poses.. Those Bridget Awosika/Makida like styling and poses would have worked better but then awon ara Bella Naija will start asking if they are maneqins… Hmmnnn.. Bites into kolanut*****

Lovely collection I must say but there’s something about it that doesn’t hit the spot. I would wear every single piece!

The designs are very lovely and the models are good. Pls people shuld learn to be constructive in their criticisim, if u ve never created or done anything worth celebrating or publishing, then don’t criticize anyone. Most importantly, I love the fabrics and the pattern. I would really like to model in one of the designs *winks*
