The Saga Continues! “Skelewu” Music Video Director Moe Musa Vents to Critics Via Twitter

Davido Moe Musa B-Red - October 2013 - BellaNaija

The “Skelewu” saga continues…

After two music videos and one instructional dance video have been dropped, Davido‘s “Skelewu” is still the talk of the town but, it’s not because it’s one of the biggest Nigerian Pop songs of the year but because of it’s multiple videos. A few moments ago, Davido tried to dispel the videos’ criticism with a tweet.

But, “Skelewu” crooner, Davido wasn’t the only person with a little something to say. The director of its final video, Mr. Moe Musa was overwhelmed by critique on Twitter when the video dropped, that he had a few things to say himself. Check this! Before the video dropped

All these twitter grammar dey give me headache. The language seems designed to reduce the readers IQ. Is it not harder to write in proper English or even Pidgin than this thing?

Only in Nigeria mehn…na we. Frankly, the Sesan video was better suited to the song than this Moe Musa one. For Moe Musa to talk that way, it’s obviously because the Nigerian consumer isn’t powerful enough yet. You shot a yeye video and you’re talking BS? When album sales, downloads, and creative rep begin to matter more than these haphazardly arranged shows, and the hype of a video contributes to album sales and awards, these artistes will begin to demand more from directors, and someone like Moe Musa will not kill my eyes with his terrible English.
For now, I go follow Ofili’s advice. When I hear Skelewu at a party, I’ll dance. And when I run into Moe Musa, I’ll hand him a copy of Queen’s Primer…homie needs it.
