APC Declares 7-Day Fasting & Prayer Against PDP in Rivers State

APC Rivers State - Bella Naija

“With God, all things are possible.”

Apparently, the Rivers State All Progressive Congress (APC) have adopted this spiritual ideology into their political doctrine. They have called for a seven-day fasting and prayer session to pray for the emergence of supervising Minister of Education, Nyesom Wike as the gubernatorial candidate of the state Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2015 election.

In a statement by the APC’s Interim State Chairman, Davies Ikanya, he expressed that APC was happy with PDP’s decision to consider Wike as governorship candidate for Rivers State. The statement revealed that APC would embark on a fast for the PDP groups to resolve their differences and officially adopt Wike as their candidate, whom they deem as an “unsellable” candidate. The APC said this would make it  easy for them to defeat the PDP, which is the main opposition party in the state.

The fasting and prayer program, which commenced on March 25th, 2014, will end on April 1st 2014 at the APC State Secretariat. According to the APC Press Statement, “great men and women of God” including Evangelist Carol Nagbo the APC State Women Leader, and Evangelist Dr. Davies Ibiamu Ikanya the Interim State Chairman of APC will conduct the program.

In response to the prayer plan, opposing party PDP also released a statement. Here is an excerpt:
The Peoples Democratic Party’s only concern is the fact that such action by the APC is not only a waste of time and our People’s resources, but apparently, a blasphemy and sacrilegious as the APC has never shown any disposition to the things of the Most High God, but has over the period exhibited high rate of recklessness, violence, insensitivity to the plights of the people, misappropriation of public funds and peddling of lies and blackmails.

You know in the book of Job God and the devil had a conversation about the extent of Job’s faithfulness. Stories like this make me wonder if sometimes they both stop what they’re doing and with one accord gape in amazement at the wonder that is Nigeria and then shake their heads at each other.

Nigeria’s hypocritical religiosity never fails to boggle my mind…these same APC members won’t bat an eye to take hefty bribes, will connive to snatch the most “mouthwatering” contracts available (and not deliver the goods they were paid for) and will be sure to loot the treasury with abandon when they get a chance, yet here they are declaring a period of fasting and prayer like they’re all so pious. You can con and oppress Nigerians till kingdom come but God cannot be conned and he will not be a made a mockery of. Sigh… This nation is such a farce…

APC VS PDP kettle calling POT BLACK.Naija prob don pass fasting, some ppl get to go for peace to reign,we all have to fight to get what we want and stop bothering God.I’m sure He’s watching and saying David, jehoshaphat and the rest of them didn’t do it by prayer alone. We get too spiritual to avoid realities.

Is this the same APC whose leader in Rivers, Governor Rotimi Amaechi, spends his time following Milan and Paris fashion in the midst of so much poverty in his state? The evidence is here:

This man must take us for irredeemable fools.

Now this same poseur would like to invite me to starve so he can enthrone his selected candidates for more years of fashion-forward style at Government House? Get serious dude.

Bull shit! It’s not about political party but about candidates.
Who is running? What do they intend to do? What have they done in the past? What experience do they have? How qualified are they for the job they are running for?
