APC Declares 7-Day Fasting & Prayer Against PDP in Rivers State
“With God, all things are possible.”
Apparently, the Rivers State All Progressive Congress (APC) have adopted this spiritual ideology into their political doctrine. They have called for a seven-day fasting and prayer session to pray for the emergence of supervising Minister of Education, Nyesom Wike as the gubernatorial candidate of the state Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2015 election.
In a statement by the APC’s Interim State Chairman, Davies Ikanya, he expressed that APC was happy with PDP’s decision to consider Wike as governorship candidate for Rivers State. The statement revealed that APC would embark on a fast for the PDP groups to resolve their differences and officially adopt Wike as their candidate, whom they deem as an “unsellable” candidate. The APC said this would make it easy for them to defeat the PDP, which is the main opposition party in the state.
The fasting and prayer program, which commenced on March 25th, 2014, will end on April 1st 2014 at the APC State Secretariat. According to the APC Press Statement, “great men and women of God” including Evangelist Carol Nagbo the APC State Women Leader, and Evangelist Dr. Davies Ibiamu Ikanya the Interim State Chairman of APC will conduct the program.
In response to the prayer plan, opposing party PDP also released a statement. Here is an excerpt:
The Peoples Democratic Party’s only concern is the fact that such action by the APC is not only a waste of time and our People’s resources, but apparently, a blasphemy and sacrilegious as the APC has never shown any disposition to the things of the Most High God, but has over the period exhibited high rate of recklessness, violence, insensitivity to the plights of the people, misappropriation of public funds and peddling of lies and blackmails.
