McMeka SS14 Man About Town Lookbook - BellaNaija - March2014002

Dapper, smart, savvy and debonair are only a few of the many words used to describe the “Man About Town” collection from Nigerian menswear label McMeka.

Created by MTN British Council Young Designer Awards LFDW 2013 winner, Rodney Emeka, the collection is inspired by the savvy gentleman who is a globe trotter, loves the arts, has impeccable and refined taste for fashion and an unrivaled take on style.

“Man About Town” features daring check and gingham prints, deep tones of orange, blue, green and red, tweed fabrics and of course we have to mention the deep green suit with the asymmetrical cuts.

One of our favourites is definitely the deep red suit with overlapping lapels below modeled by Alexx Ekubo; a different color from the suit he rocked at the 2013 AMVCA’s.

Check it out.

I think Uti would better pull off the deep green asymmetrical cut suit. And the celebrity I imagine would truly look most dapper in almost ALL of the outfits is, for inability to recall his name, the soul singer ( a guitarist and jazz artiste) whose marriage to the OAP recently crashed. He truly embodies what this theme is all about: refined (seemingly) tastes, ecletic eccentricity, uncommon, arty and globe trotter.
And if you are honest, you will agree that these traits can be found in men like Uti, Maxwell- the singer….to name a few, which also is the reason people call them gay, the eccentricity they give off is so odd, people believe their metrosexual streak borders mainly on homosexuality than mere fashion consciousness.
The suits are really lovely. The sort of thing I would want my husband to wear- not just to “wear” but to also have the “personality” behind the fashion (not the gay part! The metrosexual part perhaps) but, to be honest, a lot of guys find the opposite of these pieces more practical and would write this collection off as ridiculous and totally impratical.
