He scored, WHAT?

Although he says education is not for him, Nigerian music star Timaya is advising youths who have passion for it, to stay in school.

At the Star Music Trek held on Saturday 12th April 2014 in Uyo, Akwa Ibom, Egberi Papa 1 of Bayelsa shares his grass to grace story.

“Education is not for me”, he said. “It is important, yes, but not for me”.

“I scored 17 in JAMB. That’s when I gave up. I don’t have the brain for education but for those of you who do, please do it, it’s good.” he said.

P.S On Saturday, students in Nigeria had their UTME. Congrats in advance.

JAMB doesn’t do negative marking. I refuse to believe he got 17 in JAMB. Haba! Even the lazy and unintelligent ones who don’t study don’t get as low as 17.

Lawd have mercy?!! he’s just being lazy & has refused to mine himself educationally joor! I do not believe that; God deposited in every 1 the same measure! just as there are some efficos who are supposed to be heavy super stars & media moguls but would rather face bookuru , same goes to him . Aint no dullard my friend! dont gimme that weak line- u just never studied properly rather let the passion for music consume you. c’est finis!!

If indeed God deposited tge same measure in us all, you’d have been popular like him and him like Micheal Jackson. Everyone has his own gift. His is not education

And they wonder at the level of piracy in the industry or when marketers dupe them? Most of these artistes ought to be richer but some of them don’t know basic maths.

Common 3 times table Alaye, Zeal (female), Terry tha Rapman etc do not know, It was Ikechukwu (his head is not big for nothing) that saved the day. Since I watched that show, I gave up on Nigerian Artistes.

LMAO @fatimah… Oh well i Just hope he is intelligent enough to make wise decisions for his life.
Scoring above 200 in Jamb is not a criteria for a great future, in fact its not even a major criteria to know how smart a kid is sef.
Kudos to all you have achieved so far Timaya. More power to your elbows.

😀 Woo, ma pa mi joo! Is that even possible? The good thing is such a score does send a clear signal to a person on what direction to take. Timaya, funny guy, the plantain boy, nothing do you. Obviously intelligent in his own way.

So I’m guessing 17 is low?…I have no clue didn’t school in Nigeria so don’t know what JAMB is… However just wanted to comment on this fallacy that education is for certain people. The educational system now all around the world sucks it is for Nobody. This is real life they need to be teaching people common sense like Apprenticeship and networking in the field they desire to work in not all this cramming nonsense. I see people come to the states with supposed PHD from Nigeria that can’t speak correct gramar to articulate their thoughts and have awful communication and people skills that expect to get hired like that puh-lease…People need to start learning from 2Face, Timaya, Bill Gates, etc … you need to be persistent and do apprenticeship in the field you want and actually be a kind decent human being. The people that created the Internet, Clock,Watch, Facebook,Iron,… guess what never got a university degree some didn’t even finish JSS 2 but what they did was apprenticeship and dedication to their passion.

Sorry please but all these people went to School. A traditional education is not for everyone but we must all strive to educate ourselves in one way or the other. Timaya educated himself on the ins and outs of the music industry. Mr. Gates educated himself on the ins and outs of the technology industry. These people might as well have Masters in their respective fields but they have not formally acquired the “papers”. Educate yourselves o, don’t sit there saying education is not for everyone. It opens the door to so many opportunities. Education is for everyone!

We might be saying the same thing but I caution people when they use Mark Zuckerberg and Bill Gates as examples of people who did not go to school (or finish). Everyone can’t be these people. Let us not use laziness and put ourselves at a disadvantage. All that said, I agree with you to an extent. If formal education does not work for you, get educated in something that works for you.

Dat my bro didnt school in naija so he doesnt knw about jamb bt he knows about JSS II. U jst showed us dat u ar tru nigerian. Kip it up bro…
Intelligence is difference from IQ. Iq is jst a criteria u can use in measurin inteligence among a large group of ppl. An inteligent person is someone who has a goal and works hard to achieve his/her goals while a stupid person is someone who doesnt have any goal and living by chance. Like he(timaya) said that his talent is music so if has a particular goal he is working hard to achieve in his music career then he isn’t stupid bt inteligent. You and I know hw far he has come and what he has achieved as far as nigerian entertainment is concerned so you’ll be wrong to say timaya is nt inteligent. Inteligent is nt being good at maths or english. Check dis guys out Becham,Nadal,Federer,Messi,Ronaldo,Jay z,Muhammed Ali etc they were/are good at what they do/did so you cant say they are nt inteligent though most of them went to school. Inteligence is different from iq. Let it sink.
