Although child sexual abuse is prevalent in Nigeria, it is seldom discussed. However, Nigerian actress and TV presenter, Tricia Eseigbe-Kerry, is on a mission to end this culture of silence.

She is partnering with the Nigerian Police Force on an advocacy project, ‘The Psychologist’ – a public awareness campaign project aimed at eradicating child sexual abuse in Nigeria. The program is designed to expose sexual predators in the country, create a support platform for victims of child molestation, and encourage authorities to do their part in protecting Nigerian children from sexual predators.

In line with the partnership, the Inspector-General of Police, MD Abubakar, has instructed all 36 state commissioners of police and 12 Deputy Inspector Generals to work closely with Esiegbe-Kerry and render all the necessary support needed to execute the campaign successfully.

‘The Psychologist’ initiative is supported by Boldfaces Foundation, which is owned by the actress. The foundation’s mission is to mobilize adults, families and communities to take actions that protect children before they are harmed.

The partnership was announced at the The Nigeria Police Force headquarters in Abuja. During the announcement ceremony, the Boldfaces team presented the IG with with the Boldfaces Special Award of Excellence, for his outstanding work since he assumed office.

As part of the campaign, the actress and her team will visit schools nationwide, and hold town hall meetings in every state across Nigeria to educate people  about ways to protect  young and vulnerable children from sexual abuse.
