When a few persons start boarding with diplomatic passports, there is an exception to their search, even their luggages are not searched. Except there is a convention removing this exception to all diplomats and relatives of diplomats, then issues like this will continue to persist. Some time again a diplomat brought in ammunitions to Nigeria. Only God can help us

In Sierra Leone your diplomatic passport actually endears you to more scrutiny because people have smuggled diamonds out before on diplomatic passports back when they were just waved through. I was in Freetown Lungi airport once with these UN workers (they travel on UN issued diplomatic passports) I swear it was like they were repackaging their luggage again once their bag search was over the way those bags were turned inside out while us civilians hardly got a search.

That is really nice.I wish they would do that in Lagos. There’s the fear of rich/”important” people in Nigeria. I wonder if this can happen.

Are people sure that it was an unscheduled flight? Cos to the best of my knowledge delta airlines flight to atlanta usually makes a stop at dakar before proceeding for the long haul to the US At least Ive experienced this twice…

Hian o! If the specualtion is true, especially with that diplomatic passport bit, then that would be absolute negligence on the Nigerian airport security! Haba! With everything going on and since that Abdulmutallab incident in ’09, I would have thought that thorough searches will be extended to everyone! Especially seeing as federal legislators some of whom are unscrupulous if news reports are anything to go by, are issued diplomatic passports too. I can imagine that the nonsense airport security in their typical display of sycophancy neglected to do proper searches when they saw diplomatic passport and a few coins tossed their way.

Meanwhile, Abuja has been under serious security lock down today. Police swarming the city. Reports of planned bombing worse than nyanya bus-park bombing. Check points and barricades at strategic locations. People are being warned to be careful in their movements i.e avoid crowded places- markets, bus-parks, bus-stops, malls, etc. God save us!

This individual is a diplomat or the child of a diplomat or somehow had access to a diplomatic passport? If that’s the case then Nigeria may need to alter that whole diplomacy exception thing.

I thought Bella naija’s media integrity was beyond just a mere tweet. I was wrong!
This story has no credibility. Lets build Nigeria not destroy it!!!
