Ebola: “I Disagree With those Who Have Described Patrick Sawyer as a Mad Man” – Femi Fani-Kayode

Femi Fani-Kayode - August 2014 - 01
Nigerian politician and former Minister of Aviation Femi Fani-Kayode took to his official Facebook page to share his thoughts on Patrick Sawyer and Ebola.

I disagree with those who have described Patrick Sawyer as a madman. He was not mad at all but just evil. He was a man that was on a mission. That mission was to spread the ebola virus to Nigeria and to infect and kill as many people as possible with it.

He was an evil man with an evil intention and purpose. Worst still he was not working alone. Some people, and I mean rich, powerful and well-connected people, were working with him. As a matter of fact they sent him on the mission.

They cultivated him, took care of him, paid him, brainwashed him, gave him all that he wanted in life and finally asked him to go on a suicide mission to destroy the lives of others and spread the deadly disease.

This was a clear case of bio-terrorism and Sawyer was simply a pawn in a bigger game and a wider picture. The motive of those who sent him was to spread fear and panic, to kill as many people as possible, to create a need for a solution to the problem, to prepare the ground for a new wonder drug that could cure ebola, to create a massive market for that drug and to ensure that there would be massive profits from it’s sale.

As usual it is the unbelieving, unprepared, undiscerning and naive Africans that have been used as the prime guinea pigs. When will they stop destroying us and treating us with such contempt? When will they begin to see and treat us as human beings?

U should common! Like I always say, common sense isn’t common. In your own case is totally uncommon, do u think he did all this by himself? No one wanna die dear, do u know what they would’ve given this families? Wife, kids and all. Can u explain why he didn’t take himself back to America, instead he came into Nigeria sayin our medical system is better when the whole world knows the only thing we can treat in this country is malaria. Common apply some wisdom mehn.

Clearly, you have little idea of what the west can do to promote their gains. Did u think why would P.S end up in Obalende from the airport instead of some closer hospital?
I don’t necessarily agree with FFK, But I don’t disagree either.

Oh finally! femi fani-kayode spews some intelligent words. This was a well thought-out plan to sell the drug called ZMAPP. Americans are the beginning and end of EVIL. So the only place to try the virus and drugs on is africa??? The world is indeed a wicked place.

Very soon, kids will resume back to school. I’m scared for other parents. This is just NOT right by any stretch of imagination.

Question:during the next election would people be required to deep their fingers in indelible (election) ink?
Would they still have campaign rallies in the intense Nigerian sun where people will be sweating and rubbing against each other?
Will the candidates be shaking hands of the public?
Will the gloved election officer change their gloves each time they collect a ballot or count them?

Some many questions-the next few months will be very interesting…

Naija, we just too like conspiracy theories (especially we yorubas), see the way he wrote this piece like he saw the memo..

So, looking at the way Ebola kills so quickly, there will never be a big market for the cure, the vaccine maybe. Ebola has been around for a decade and it was very close to our door. What were we doing when the yankees were busy researching for a cure? Don’t we have labs?
Must we be the one buying?

We should be asking the right questions to get the right answers ?

    P.S FFK is a good writer……..that’s all

In my opinion, I believe it is a dumb move to spread the Ebola virus with Mr Sawyer as Femi Fani-Kayode explained. What business benefits will the investors get from this idea? If the idea was to produce and sell drugs (for example ZMAPP) to fight the disease, then thats one of the dumbest ideas ever. Thankfully, government agencies in the affected countries are taking precautional measures to curb the spread of the disease. So far, the Ebola virus disease has killed a high number of people but we can count the number of people currently living with the disease (Please refer to WHO’s website). Soon, this disease will be eradicated. I applaud the Nigerian ministry of health for the measures they are taking to eliminate this virus in the country. Also, I commend the works of government agencies in affected countries on the measures they are taking to eliminate this disease. If the idea of spreading the ebola virus is to create a business venture, I’m afraid the business has failed before its inception.

Its not a dumb move, Pharmaceutical companies have been known to even invent diseases so they can sell drugs, this is called drug-mongering. Nothing stops them from taking a disease to Africa and spreading it so they can cause a need for the drugs. Though Zmapp is experimental people are requesting for it not minding the consequences since they believe that they would die anyway, and of course this drug would be very expensive. I heard of a Senator that was requesting for the drug; he doesn’t even have the disease, I guess its to be ‘just in case. Fear has been spread round the nation and no one has spoken about the fact that people can survive it, like seen in Sierra Leone, I keep wondering why are people quiet on that? There is more to it than what meets the eye.

I totally agree with FFK. The Westerners planned and manipulated this whole Ebola drama, so as to make huge sale of their useless drugs because they believe Nigeria is a very big market. He was an American citizen, why did’nt he return to America where he could get the best treatment?? He was asked to come and spread the virus here by the westerners. God will definitely see us through it all.

      August 17, 2014 at 5:34 pm

But Africa doesn’t have to buy the drug though. I mean who are these bloody illiterates spewing cow dung on this Ebola issue? Yaba apa osi can cure you of your Ebola. It’s quite frustrating to see you all speak from both sides of your mouth. Last week on this same BN you were all begging for ZMapp. Now you are screaming conspiracy. I’m glad the US didn’t respond and start shipping ZMapp to all you worthless souls. Don’t be mad at the West for your trials and tribulations. For once be mad at your ruthless leaders who put their insatiable greed before your wellbeing. I mean your leaders can’t bring back 200 girls and it’s been 4 months, yet you have all sat there and done nothing. Where did your stupid hashtags on chibok girls go? Yeah that’s what I thought…how dare you blame the West for Ebola ? Doctors without Borders is a non- profit saving lives across Africa. All You fools do is sit there throwing lavish weddings and fashion shows every weekend, rip people off and disgrace yourselves. saving yourselves is not even your priority but you sit here and spill crap out of your buttholes. How many of your stupid kleptomaniacs are funding the fight against AIDS in Africa? It’s all foreigners mainly Western Philanthropy funded efforts. I don’t see you complain then but when your selective amnesia kicks in, your bash the West and claim you don’t need their help. I wish they would listen though, sit back, do nothing and watch you bloody Africans revel in your inherent bondage for at least 5 years and then we will see what becomes of your useless lot. Mschewwwww

Kudo’s to @Tunde for his thots! Haba! It is really incredulous to read these “conspiracy theories”. So the West is now to blame for this virus that originated in African soil? It seems that we are just intent on continuing as the “gimme gimme” continent of the world. Where are our pharmacists? No be the same medicine and school we all go to? Why do they use theirs to better themselves and the world while we churn out the same old same old every year?
Please!!! Let us seek help in ourselves and of ourselves and not blame the innocent for problem we bring on ourselves.
Do you think that if they wanted to sell the drug Zmapp as you all think they would “introduce” the disease now? If you want to sell a drug you would do it when you have the supply not when you are yet to finalize on the supply in the first place!
Please FFK, you are supposed to be a learned man. Use your brain and stop feeding the minds of the gullible with this rubbish that would mar their lives!!! Inspire hem to reach for cure for problems around them and not to look for “those in the West” or “the rich” as the source of their problems!!

Sorry for the long response. I am pissed!!

Yes he was a wicked, desperate ,selfish man….but this whole idea of “They cultivated him, took care of him, paid him, brainwashed him, gave him all that he wanted in life” conspiracy is taking it too far…… if we keep using conspiracy theories to jusify everything that is wrong with our society we wont get far. lets face up to our own role in the matter and that will be a start. I blame African leaders and governements for never being proactive until disaster has struck, everything takes us by surprise. Then ,we have failed leaders like FFK coming to lay the blame else where.

People and conspiracies..patrick Sawyer is now the fall guy! What about our porous border can’t it come in through the border? Most diseases comes from about the history of HIV and it was traced to a particular colony of chimpanzees in Congo region..we know fruit bats are the main host which is a delicacy in Africa.
Not faulting the conspiracy because you can’t trust humans the most wicked thing God has ever created.
And @wale interesting angle you pointed out! Never thought about that..lets wait and see time will tell

All these are attempts to divert attention from the atoricities against Nigerians by responsible agencies, government agencies like Ministry of health that should have advised the need to effectively monitor our borders. Nigerians, swallow this crap and be blinded to those who have injured you the most- the government you entrusted resources an all to in the land who have failed us all woefully.

It is only in things that call for us to play our part that the government is strident, while governmental responsibilities fail abysmally. Where are the scapegoats for this heinous crime againt Nigeria? Who is to face the music for exposing us to ths deadly scourge? Who allowed those lovely Nigerians to go to an early grave for doing their jobs well? Who is to question the hospital where Sawyer died for suspecting his case and still inefficiently managed things to allow over a 150 primary/secondary contacts to now exist in Nigeria?

    • ak

      August 15, 2014 at 8:08 pm

Chuka, you are the only one with a brain.

Even if it is a so-called conspiracy theory from the West, there are so many unanswered questions:

      1. We know Patrick Sawyer was suspended from his company AcelorMittal- prior to ECOWAS meeting and was held in quarantine in Liberia.

      2. Why would the airport officials allow a sickly looking man to go through the gates without recommending a health official attend to him? I’ll tell you why, because Sawyer received special permission from Liberian authorities to go to this ECOWAS meeting in NG.

      3. This story does not co-relate with Patrick Sawyers wife’s story that he went to Nigeria to seek medical treatment.

      4. So what really happend? Why would the Health Ministry not share such sensitive information on a crucial matter as Ebola to the airports? This means that for all we know, the Liberian airport could have been allowing sickly people pass through ti fly to other countries.

      5. Why didn’t Nigerian government take action when it knew Ebola is in Liberia and co.. and stop any incoming flights or even if they didn’t, quarantine them upon arrival and inspect them?

This is simply another story where the authorities are USELESS and DO NOT DO THEIR JOBS… Then you will have them passing blame instead of fixing and learning from MISTAKES.

      Africa, I hail una!

Why the choice of 1st Consultant above other Hospitals in Ikeja. 2. How is the situation in Guinea, S/Leon and Liberia?3. Why were the Docs sacked now in exchange for the money voted for the drug. 4. I think we Africans as a whole have an inferiority complex. Some people brought up some good points. Ebola has been in the continent since the 1970s and there have been multiple outbreaks. How come with the talent we have we haven’t come up with our own drug or vaccine? Why are we waiting on the white man to ‘save’ us and in the same breathe blaming them for infecting us in the first place. It’s ludicrous. I don’t deny thw horrible things that have been done to the black man and Africans but until we start doing things for ourselves our image overseas as poor, dirty , uneducated, unfortunate souls will continue

You Nigerians are always so quick to point your fingers at the West. After all Ebola did not originate out of the West, but straight from Africa. This is not the first time Ebola has flared up in Africa. Although Patrick Sawyer is an American citizen, he is still an African by birth. Stop with all the conspiracy nonsense and use common sense. Why would he try to fly back to America while sick, when the journey to Nigeria is much shorter? If he was looking for medical care? You all need to stop blaming the west for all your woes.

Nigerians and Africans are indeed some worthless POS. if you guys truly believe Ebola was sent to Africa by America as a tactic to market ZMapp, then why are you begging America to ship the drug to Africa? This – up reasoning is why I commend the US for ignoring your cry for help. You are all ingrates who should be left alone to rot in your poverty and disease ridden dungeon
