History is Made as Sister suceeds Sister as Chief Judge of Lagos

Chief Judge of Lagos - August 2014 - BN News - 01
Some people are just meant to be doctors, others are meant to the designers, but for the Williams sisters, it is all about being the CJ of Lagos.

On Wednesday 20th August 2014, two daughters of a former judge, Justice James Williams, exchanged baton as the state’s chief judge.

At the programme held at the Adeyemi Bero Hall of the state Secretariat in Alausa, Ikeja, Governor Babatunde Fashola officially swore in Justice Funmilayo Atilade as the chief judge of Lagos.

Funmilayo took over from her elder sister Justice Ayotunde Philips.

After attaining the retirement age of 65, Philips, bowed out, while her sister was sworn in as the fifth female chief judge of the state.

He urged the new chief judge to work hard, saying there is more work for her to do as the chief judge.

In her acceptance speech, Atilade described herself as “a child of destiny” and promised to give her best.

What a shared destiny! There is nothing too difficult with God. He does His things to prove the limitations of human’s expectations. It can be so with any sisters or brothers if the Lord has destined. Wish her God’s wisdom in service to Lagos State and Its citizens as was given to King Solomon of old and a successful tenure.

People are always so quick to jump to negative conclusions. Lagos state has a hierarchy, which is accordance with your appointment and the amount of years you have spent at the bench. That is how the system has worked for a number of years. It just so happened to be that the next in line is the sister of her predecessor. People have a tendency to sensationalize all the information as corruption, please get your facts right before you start dropping suggestive comments that some foul play has occurred somewhere. This is the reason why we tend not to have issues with who will be the next Chief Judge in Lagos, as it is somewhat automatic
