BN Best Dressed Genevieve Pink Ball 2014 October2014-BellaNaija008
She accessorized her dress with a chunky silver neckpiece and silver ankle strap sandals. Her beauty look was her signature bob with a pretty pink pout.

Kunbi Oyelese

BN Best Dressed Genevieve Pink Ball 2014 October2014-BellaNaija026Kunbi Oyelese could easily be the best dressed of them all with a simple white dress that featured a scoop neckline and the right amount of pink with a sash shaped in the sign for Breast Cancer Awareness.

She accessorized this dress designed by Lanre Da Silva Ajayi with purple Victoria Randolf clutch and shoes and chandelier earrings.

Ogwa Iweze

IMG_0295Ogwa Iweze, the creative director of DZYN fashion label wore a gorgeous piece two-toned pink lace dress with amazing floral petal details on the right side.

BN Best Dressed Genevieve Pink Ball 2014 October2014-BellaNaija028The host for the night, Betty Irabor showed that fashion is ageless as she brought a unique style to the red carpet with her pink lace dress which features a lovely train.

BN Best Dressed Genevieve Pink Ball 2014 October2014-BellaNaija036She accessorized her pink glittery floral-themed dress with a pink clutch and a pretty smile.

Fade Ogunro

IMG_8437Even though a lot of people are skeptical about Fade Ogunro’s look, her risk-taking plunging-neckline sheer overlay dress has a certain appeal to us.

The dress, designed by TrishO Couture, is one of Fade’s riskier looks and we like the fact that she was able to step on the red carpet with a difference. She accessorized her dress simply with a dark brown clutch and completed her look with a pink pout.

Ajibola Ajimobi

IMG_0398In a custom look by Lanre Da Silva Ajayi, Ajibola Ajimobi looked every inch a sweetheart in this ‘prom-my’ piece.

She accessorized her black and brown strapless dress with a pink clutch and a pearl and silver matching jewelry set.

Seyi Shay

IMG_0220Singer Seyi Shay kept her look demure and feminine in a piece designed by fashion label Poosh.

Agbani Darego

BN Best Dressed Genevieve Pink Ball 2014 October2014-BellaNaija037
Agbani Darego was regal on the red carpet in a simple gold metallic dress by DVF. She added a touch of pink to her outfit with a clutch and she accessorized her dress which features a thigh slit with gold earrings, a gold bracelet and gold strap sandals.

The former Miss World kept her beauty look simple with beautiful cornrows.

Bola Balogun

IMG_8057Bola Balogun’s look for the night caught our eye for its quirky elements. The dress, designed by Meena has a side peplum detail that really brings out a unique quality. Also the touch of print on the blouse is lovely.

Bola accessorized her dress with a black clutch and gold jewelry.

Jumai Shaba

BN Best Dressed Genevieve Pink Ball 2014 October2014-BellaNaija014
Another creation from design label Toju Foyeh was seen on Jumai Shaba who rocked this sweet pink satin dress with a bow detail on one sleeve. The nude detailing used on the dress gives it a wedding-look.

She went with a nude beauty look with a soft pink lipstick to bring out her lips.

Onyinye Fafi-Obi

BN Best Dressed Genevieve Pink Ball 2014 October2014-BellaNaija034
Onyinye Fafi-Obi
gave us a modern chic vibe in this creation by Lanre Da Silva-Ajayi, wearing a white lacy crop top and a pair of pink pants.

She swept her loose braids to the side and kept her hand busy with a number of black bracelets.

Ene Maya Lawani

BN Best Dressed Genevieve Pink Ball 2014 October2014-BellaNaija016Ene Maya Lawani brought her A-game to the Pink Ball. Even though this is a familiar look, it looks refreshing in the way it was styled.

The former beauty queen accentuated her waist with a gold metal-plate belt and accessorized the plunging neckline dress by design label C Morgan with gold chain link earrings and a gold clutch.

Veronica Ebie-Odeka

IMG_8215It’s not every day we get to see Nigerian women flaunting their pregnancy style so we were glad to see celebrity stylist Veronica Ebie-Odeka step out at the Genevieve Magazine Pink Ball with her baby bump.

A cute pink clutch was the accessory for her pink dress by Chiara Boni. She completed her look with dark smoky eyes, a neutral lipstick and wavy locks.

Teni Sagoe

IMG_8571Defying the conventional ball gown outfit for the Pink Ball, Teni Sagoe went with a modern and hip look from her design label Clan. She wore an Aubrey Hepburn-inspired peplum dress with a simple and clean cut.

Elma Godwin

IMG_0052IMG_0053TV host for Spice TV, Elma Godwin, won our hearts with the interesting floral detail at the hem of her dress. Her signature blonde streak in her hair kept her look interesting for the red carpet.

Eku Edewor

IMG_8420Eku Edewor tried a new look on the red carpet that many are not sure of but we see the look she was going for with a white crop top and a ball skirt by design label April by Kunbi. She accessorized with pearls, a black bag and black criss cross sandals.

IMG_0305Eku’s look was definitely another risky look for the night.

Valerie Obaze

IMG_8780PR Executive Valerie Obaze wore a pink lace creation by FrockIt RockIt. We can’t get over how lovely the fabric is.

She accessorized this dress with a simple pink and orange clutch.

Oyinda Adenuga

IMG_8767Oyinda Adenuga makes our BN Best Dressed List with this creation from design label Shakara Couture.

The look is somewhat busy with white floral cut-out patterns and a sheer shoulder detail so the rest of her outfit is minimal with pink lipstick and a gold clutch.

Chinyere Adogu

IMG_8807The 2014 MBGN Tourism went for a svelte look in a pajamas-inspired suit by design label Wana Sambo’s Resort 2014 collection.

She kept the rest of her look simple with a pair of square-shared drop earrings and a silver bracelet.

**Bonus – Best Dressed Couple

Julius & Ibiere Agwu

BN Best Dressed Genevieve Pink Ball 2014 October2014-BellaNaija025Just as a bonus, we are adding our best dressed couple to the list because we love how good Julius Agwu looked with his wife, Ibiere Agwu.

Their looks complement each other with Julius taking the lead in a white blazer, pink shirt and tan trousers. Ibiere kept her look understated but stylish in a bejeweled Virgos Lounge dress and a pair of Christian Louboutin Annees Folles pumps.

Best Dressed Men

Ebuka Obi-Uchendu

BN Best Dressed Genevieve Pink Ball 2014 October2014-BellaNaija001 BN Best Dressed Genevieve Pink Ball 2014 October2014-BellaNaija002Media personality Ebuka went with a unique look on the red carpet with a well-tailored blue suit. He added the colour theme of the night to his outfit with a pink pocket square.

A deep blue tie, brown shoes and pink & black stripped socks completed his look.

Denola Adepetun

BN Best Dressed Genevieve Pink Ball 2014 October2014-BellaNaija035Another male guest who caught our attention was Denola ‘Grey’ Adepetun who rocked a classic white and black suit, opting for a print bowtie and pink pocket square to complete his look.

Sijibomi Ogundele

SujimotoAnother addition to the Best Dressed men, Sijibomi Ogundele had an overall dark hue as he dressed in different shades of brown.

We love his simple touch of pink with a pink flower brooch.

Abi o my sister, Fade Ogunro, Eku Edewor, Oyinye Fafi-Obi, Bola-Balogun made the cut for best dressed and astonishing heavely looks like that of Toke makinwa and Dolapo Oni ain’t here, Bella Naija no try at all. Even a look as simple as that of Teni Sagoe is here. Haba! Una no try at all. This is now Nigerian politics where 7 is more than 14

    October 21, 2014 at 4:31 pm

I beg to differ. Agbani looks great though.

Sorry but Eku outfit was ill advised.

    • D

      October 21, 2014 at 6:35 pm

Ok!!! So I read the Eku commentary and it said “we seethe look she was GOING FOR”. Now the look she was going for and the look attained are 2 different matters. My point is BN agrees with you…Maybe. 🙂

Why is dolapo not here…she should be in the top 3

BN, biko call a spade a spade. Or in this case, a mess, a mess. Even the beautiful Eku whom i love dearly is clearly capable of great fashion eft ups such as this. Badly tailored and clearly wrong for the event! I don’t know what Fade Ogunro is doing there. This article should have been captioned “What the cool kids wore to the ball”

  15. Changing Faces

    October 21, 2014 at 5:31 pm

Are you guys having a laugh? Fade Ogunro was the tackiest babe at the event. Did you see her exposed back, and she kept carrying the dress like wedding gown? Very unattractive! Most people on this list no make am… Agbani didnt look nice atall, looked painfully thin and dry. Best dressed hands down was Ogwa Igweze (whoever she is), that her 2 tone lace dress was just beautiful; its a shame it doesn’t photograph well. I saw non celebrities who attended the event that dressed much nicer than the celebrities, so your title should be best dressed OAPs, celebrities and socialites.

    • Que

      October 21, 2014 at 6:17 pm

Jumai Shabba and Eku made it…… they are clearly having a laugh!

  16. deb

    October 21, 2014 at 6:04 pm

BN is using people’s statuss to judge best dressed. That is part of the problem we have in Nigeria. Oyin adenuga, Fade ogunro, Eku edowor and some other people don’t look good. Don’t call a spade an hammer.

  17. Bey

    October 21, 2014 at 6:10 pm

Oh BN is this ur list? Fade looks terrible…April by kunbi is never tired of copying

  20. Asgrl

    October 21, 2014 at 6:39 pm

BN you called your credibility into question by creating a list. By virtue of the fact you didn’t have a “Worst Dressed List”, you should have felt comfortable not including quite a few people. No body get’s offended by not being included in the best dressed list as much as they do being included on the worst dress list.

    This was disingenuous at best.

  21. bee

    October 21, 2014 at 6:49 pm

Fade Ogunro!! Say what?? No way!

  22. 0lukayode

  23. Tempi

    October 21, 2014 at 7:14 pm

I’m honestly disappointed in BN. Fade and Rki looked hideous ! Ebuka looks amazing , it’s painful you put the Denola dude in the same list as my Ebuka. His blazer doesn’t fit right plus his bow tie isn’t print , it’s bedazzled with broken glass, he has over rocked that tie now . Give it a rest boy !

  24. Had to leave a comment

    October 21, 2014 at 7:26 pm

I’ve actually lost respect for bellanaija and their opinion! Clearly a popularity contest. For starters fade ogunro shouldn’t have been on the list which is a general/obvious consensus.

  29. LILO

    October 21, 2014 at 8:14 pm

This list lost its credibility the moment you out Fade Ogunro, Jumai Shabba, Eku Edewor and Ugonna Umuero.

The best dressed list should not be more tan 5-7 people. It’s okay if all your friends or regular faces do not make the list. It’s called objectivity which is necessary in media business

  30. Sandy

    October 21, 2014 at 8:22 pm

Bella Naija just focused on poorly dressed celebrities. The Best Dressed at the ball were non celebrities and they were not even featured. How could Agbani, Eku or Fade even make the cut? What is “best dressed” about Teni Sagoe? I didn’t expect this kind of Bias from Bella Naija

    • Bis

      October 22, 2014 at 2:20 pm

Couldnt agree more Teni Sagoe’s dress is very basic. Fade’s dress was tacky as hell and Agbani’s dress was again nothing to ride home about it, infact i dont think it suited her at all. Almost like she couldnt be bothered. I can give props to Eku for at least trying to do something different but abeg Teni, Fade and Agbani defs do not belong on this list!!!

  31. LILO

    October 21, 2014 at 8:26 pm

This list here is an example of what’s wrong with Nigeria. In ability or lack of integrity to say the something as simple as a red carpet . If you can’t be faithful with something as innocuous as a best dressed list, how can you even lead with integrity? How you do anything, is how you do everything. Shame on everyone of you at BN For this outright fraud.

  32. jide

    October 21, 2014 at 8:30 pm

  35. BN no Try

Bella Naijans are too darn funny. I can’t believe how serious some of you are about your picks not being on the list, or objection to some who are. At least the list is a conversation piece of what it’s

  40. sherifa

    October 22, 2014 at 12:29 am

Bella Naija you just disappointed me. How can you put Fade – it was all too much for me – too tight, a bit tacky, how i wished she had worn her signature tailored shorts
As for Eku I hated what she wore – she looked like she just casted for a role in Gatsby, but I still love her all the way, hehe
Best dressed had to be Dolapo Oni

  41. purpleb

    October 22, 2014 at 12:50 am

I’ve always been excited to see what my fellow nigerians come up with but this post was SO disappointing. I mean the pink shades were a total FAIL. c’mon ladies…we are not teenagers so let us NOT dress like them. Also, the fit of most of these dresses were not great at all. Some were too tight, or just ill fitting which just makes the design look wrong.

  42. Mary

    October 22, 2014 at 1:31 am

BN for real ?, this is so disappointing, when you say best dressed at a red carpet event like this, it means, that those dresses were outstanding. you and i know quite well that Fade and Eku’s dresses were ill fitting and they were not supposed to make this list at all.. fade and Eku should study their body structures to know what fits, Eku copied from J-Lo , forgetting that JLO has a full body as a woman, while she is very skinny, must they even copy everything they see.Truth hurts but it has to be said anyways. Joan Rivers says as it is, she doesn’t care. After all someone who made the worst dress list may improve and make the best dressed list next time, so BN, don’t be afraid to say the truth, and besides best dressed is not supposed to be as much as this your list, its just few that stood out.

  43. step77

    October 22, 2014 at 1:56 am

Very patronizing list, I would give BN a pass if maybe the article was to present the roster of attendant homegrown designer’s pieces, but alas it is not. Even Toke’s Cinderella inspired frock has more going for it than half of those listed up there!

  44. Dee-USA

    October 22, 2014 at 2:12 am

Is there anyone who didn’t make this list? As I scoured through it dawned on me that I was looking at the entire (pretty much) red carpet list. BN does realize that this is a ball right? That means people in pretty dresses like Teni Sagoe (who is dressed more for a cocktail than a ball) should not make the cut. She’s a designer, so how she doesn’t get the concept of a ball amazes me. Everyone knows what Eku was “going for,” but she failed miserably at executing it and looks like she borrowed from the wardrobe of Helena Bonham Carter. It just doesn’t warrant ANY best dressed list. Osas is dress appropriately for a ball, but there’s no wow factor to her dress to warrant a best dressed list, but I suppose when more than half of the guests didn’t get the dress code, she’s worthy of it.

BN, we get it! You have personal connections to many of the “celebs” you cover here, and will do any and everything to promote them. But you’re already shoving salacious gossip down our throats to boost your viewership (nothing do you, make that advertising money.) Shouldn’t you have one or two topics/sections/posts that are void of nepotism and “kiss assing” traits?

    • BB

      October 26, 2014 at 7:48 pm

I agree with Teni Sagoe. As a designer she ought to have honored the occasion with something much more appropriate and the fact that it was a ball means time to play dress up and not dress down.

Even Agbani should not be on this list…and this is coming from me who is one of her fav fans.

you didn’t even put Toke Makinwa..instead u put that Fade babe that her shoulders r like Johnny Bravo! Oh please! Fade I like your energy but your style doesn’t suit your body type! you need to dress to tone down ur masculine features! I am not a big Toke lover, but she nailed it in this event. Veronica…lovely preggos

OMG Johnny Bravo?? LOL LOL LOL. But yes not only is Fade’s dress TACKY it really doesnt suit her body type.It makes her look very frumpy and muscly. That Jumia babe does not belong anywhere NEAR this list, what is that bow on her arm? TACKY!!! I think Eku tried, even if it didnt work she at least tried to do something different, the same cant be said for Agbani, Kunbi or Teni. Thank God you didnt put Toke, her dress was awful. The material made her look like som washed up cinderella

Eku wanted to do the Sarah Hyland Emmys 2014 red carpet look but the ‘tailor’ did a horrible job.

LOL Bella, I can’t find my comment. Well, let me type it again. Eku wanted to do the Sarah Hyland Emmys 2014 Red Carpet look real bad but the ‘tailor’ wasn’t having none of that.

When would April by Kunbi stop copying and using major cheap fabrics! Eku s dress was so ill fitted and tacky! Tokes cheap cinderella look was a mess btw! Fade is so beautiful she needs a good stylist so she stops looking Tacky. Its a ball! Yet so much Tackiness everywhere! Betty Irabor looks pretty decent. Teni Sagoe disappointing (ball?)

I think Ebuka honestly needs to reevaluate and update his look. It’s getting tired. Only Denola of the three men shown here was occasion appropriate. Most of the ladies were also not fitting for a “ball”, unless the meaning of a ball has changed in the last two decades. Eku even looks embarrased to be wearing what she’s wearing. The finishing is simply bad. A lot of our young designers really need to sit up and pay attention to finishing. Fade belongs on the worst dressed list. As do Eku, Teni Sagoe, Bola, Oyinye, Oyinda, Chinyere and Mrs Agwu. It’s a ball for crying out loud.
