What Would you do If you Found out Your Husband is Secretly Married to another Woman?

Mr and Mrs Gibney

BellaNaijarians, what would you do if you found out that your beloved husband is secretly married to another woman?

This was the question 55-year-old British woman Yvonne Gibney, asked herself after she found at that her 49-year-old husband, Maurice, of 17 years secretly married another woman.

She found out after seeing pictures of Maurice kissing his secret bride at the wedding on Facebook, Daily Mail reports. The couple have two children together.

Yvonne first started to hear about his husband’s secret wife via rumours floating around on Facebook. But she dismissed the rumours, refusing to believe that Maurice could betray her.

Her worst fears came true when she saw pictures of the wedding ceremony.

The wedding which cost £45,000 took place at an exotic beach in Oman. Maurice, who is an oil contractor, had been away for work in the Arab state. Apparently, it was during his work trip that the wedding took place.

According to reports, the bride is 46-year-old Suzanne Prudhoe, a teacher whom Maurice had been having an affair with for 18 months.

Yvonne found out that her husband had lied to his family, telling them that they had gotten a divorce, and that he was free to marry another woman.

Maurice’s mom reportedly walked him down the aisle , and the step daughter was a bridesmaid.

Yvonne took her husband to court for bigamy, but instead of sending him to jail, the judge gave him a 6-month sentence, which was suspended for two years.

“I believed in our marriage and shared values, trust, love and respect for each other, a sense of morality.

I loved him unconditionally and believed that love was reciprocated. I simply don’t have the words to effectively convey the pain and hurt and sense of betrayal,” said Yvonne.

She also recounted that she had met her husband and fallen in love with him 20 years ago while working in Nigeria. Following his infidelity, they are now divorced.

Lol….I was just about to say the same thing. Nigeria always seem to come up in random situations.
The man sha na wa o. If you didn’t love your wife anymore, divorce her and move on instead of living a lie. I want to understand what really triggers the downfall of a 20 years relationship

Hard as it is the best thing is to divorce him and move on! That man can murder his wife for life insurance and still marry someone else. Most of our Naija sisters will begin midnight prayers on the other woman’s head and heap all the blame on her head. A marriage is a partnership, if one party isn’t pulling his/her weight and doesn’t want to be in that marriage, just let it go.

One report said the wedding took place at the British embassy another said it was presided over by British embassy officials – where the wedding would be held under British law.. If this is true then this guy must have paid someone off or somebody at the embassy was not doing his job to check for divorce certificates before issuing a marriage certificate. And for the bride someone tells you they are divorced and you take their word for it? Madam these records are accessible to the public you should have checked that he was legally divorced first see how your marriage is now not valid due to not doing any background checks on your part. Ladies not only should you Google new boyfriends but check public records for any marriage certificates and divorce certificates if they claim to be divorced in their names where possible.

There are too many loop holes in the UK legal system now, I’m nearly ashamed.
Nigeria has somewhat a positive light here tho, considering it was where she fell in love with the man, and love isn’t a bad thing.
