Bill Cosby’s Lawyer Releases New Statement & Says all the Recent Allegations against Him are “Increasingly Ridiculous.”

Bill-Cosby-November-2014-BellaNaija001As the rape allegations continue to pile up against Bill Cosby, the comedian and actor still refuses to offer a statement but his lawyers have released a new statement that says all the recent allegations against Bill Cosby are ‘increasingly ridiculous’.

In the past few weeks a total of 8 women have come forward to make accusations that they were sexually assaulted by the comedian over 30, 40, and 50 years ago – but these allegations did not start a few weeks ago. They started decades ago and according to reports the total number of women who have accused Bill Cosby is getting close to 20.

Read the new statement from his lawyers below:

“The new, never-before-heard claims from women who have come forward in the past two weeks with unsubstantiated, fantastical stories about things they say occurred 30, 40, or even 50 years ago have escalated far past the point of absurdity.

These brand new claims about alleged decades-old events are becoming increasingly ridiculous, and it is completely illogical that so many people would have said nothing, done nothing, and made no reports to law enforcement or asserted civil claims if they thought they had been assaulted over a span of so many years.

Lawsuits are filed against people in the public eye every day. There has never been a shortage of lawyers willing to represent people with claims against rich, powerful men, so it makes no sense that not one of these new women who just came forward for the first time now ever asserted a legal claim back at the time they allege they had been sexually assaulted.

This situation is an unprecedented example of the media’s breakneck rush to run stories without any corroboration or adherence to traditional journalistic standards. Over and over again, we have refuted these new unsubstantiated stories with documentary evidence, only to have a new uncorroborated story crop up out of the woodwork. When will it end? It is long past time for this media vilification of Mr. Cosby to stop.”

Meanwhile, Bill Cosby is not letting the allegations stop his comedy tour as performed at the King Center for the Performing Arts last night, Friday November 21, in Melbourne, Florida.

I don’t believe any of these women. White girls no dey carry eyes see successful and well respected black man. When a black guy have sex with them and don’t want to have any relationship them, the mutual sex is being considered as rape. How can a 63 years old woman claim she was sexual assualted 19 years ago. that means you had sex with him at the age of 44.

So a 44 year old woman cannot be sexually assaulted? I am surprised it has taken you people this long to crawl out of the woodwork and come here to play the racism card on this blog. Twenty white women who do not know each other came together and colluded to bring down an old black man all of a sudden, yes? Someone like you could have witnessed the rape and still called it consensual “ehn her screams mean she’s enjoying it”. God forbid *shudders*

The whole thing was starting to be believable to me till Janice Dickinson came up with her story. Its just too confusing. 20people and not one said anything in an era where a black man could be taken down so easily. Now the woman on ABC2020 yesterday i dont understand her own. “He gave me a pill and i took it” she didnt question anything and after that she called him up the next day and went to visit him again. The interviewer asked her you know at that point you are the one seeking him not the other way round. She couldn’t reply, started crying i didnt do anything he did this to me. Stories like that makes this whole situation complicated.

Sad! When will you people start believing that women get raped all the time? More so this is very rampant in the movie industry as part of their “sexual magick.” It is one of the requirements to be a Boule. The day people like Tyler Perry (yes the same one you worship) and Quincy Jones annoy the establishment, watch as the skeletons in their cupboard will be exposed.

All I can say is where there’s smoke there’s fire! People are confusing his character on TV Cliff Huxtable for the actual person Bill Cosby which are two completely different individuals… There have been a couple of ladies over the years that have claimed that he drugged & had sex with them and they were paid off by his people, people commenting forget that Bill Cosby is human after all…

Ladies how come you are all just coming out with this at this time? What were you doing in his place? Were you forced or did he drag you? You that claimed he gave you pill… and you took it, just like that? Haba! These stories don’t just add up. Whatever happened between these adult women and Cosby should be deemed of mutual consent-my 2 kobo. I wonder who he must have angered among the American entertainment powers-that-be?

Its been years since these alleged ‘rape’ incidents occurred, now I’m no expert on cases of this nature but you would think that at least one out of twenty rape victims would stand out and cry for justice but no, they all took it casually and grew old with it. Now out of the blue after so many years these ‘victims’, not knowing each other decide to bring up tragic events that traumatized their lives all at the same time…. Uh uh… Don’t make sense.

Why these women never came forward really? I mean, I think they got paid and never said anything.. now that their reserve is dry they are surfacing.. pufffff

And why are you all assuming all the women are white? Before making the assumption, do some research. Is this woman white?

Shame on anyone who trumps up the racism card while people are outlining a predatory pattern in this man. Even if they were all white, don’t they deserve to tell their stories, which an investigation can prove right or wrong? This is how the Jimmy Saviles, the R. Kellys, Catholic priests and other predators who can help others, but choose to take advantage of their positions to manipulate people, get away with it for so long. Here’s a 90-year-old man claiming he was a fixer for Cosby, and helped arrange money to be paid to women for Cosby.

Unverified, yes, but the longer he remains quiet, the more details will emerge as victims get tired of Cosby supporters claiming everyone is lying. When will people learn that you shouldn’t be quick to dismiss someone’s allegations especially when it’s laden with specific details such as meeting places, events, apartment locations and hotel room details. It’s better to be quiet and let the story unravel with the eventual truth, than to be that person vilifying a victim publicly only to discover it was true.

I’ll say this. How many times has it happened in history that these number of victims (Catholic school boys included) ALL made wrongful allegations against one man?

And no they didn’t keep quiet. Most of them have said they told one or more people, but were told no one would believe them and nothing would come of it. Some lost acting agents, modeling contracts because they reported him. There were women ready to testify about Cosby during the 2005 case, but he settled with the woman so they couldn’t speak. There’s no money to be made now because the statute of limitations have passed. Some of them have already established themselves in their careers (actresses, models, publicists, to name a few) and some have long retired. The reason their stories are being heard now is because of the power of the internet. Back in the early 90s, they didn’t have that platform to help tell their stories. Today, they do. And thanks to a little known comedian who brought it up in his comedy act, the story has come out. Thanks to critics such as those here who believe one woman’s story was a lie, others are coming forward because they do not want the story to die. They see that if they don’t talk, people will slam the one victim who’s come forward. But many will take notice when more share theirs as well. It’s in the power of the numbers. And they don’t need to seek the media to tell their stories. They can just post it on their Facebook pages and people will pick it up. Perhaps Cosby and others like him never imagined the advent of the Internet and the role it would play in exposing them. But I assume criminals didn’t envision the advent of DNA to place them at the scene of crimes.

What we really should be encouraging is for people to come forward and an investigation to prove or disprove them. It shouldn’t matter if they were getting paid to keep quiet before. How can anyone be in support of silencing a crime? So you prefer they take the money and keep quiet because you’d rather worship Cosby the legend than see him as a rapist? If he as much as committed a crime against one woman. Just one woman, then the black community should be ashamed of him because he’s been one of the biggest critics of black people not acting right, while acting worse all the while.

For the record, I do believe he committed most of these crimes, based on some stories I’ve read. Not sure of everyone, but this is a classic predator behavior. Use the platform you have in common to invite them for “acting lessons,” start “children’s foundations” like Savile and Jerry Sandusky, invite them to your recording studio “to work on music with them.” Then each time they comply with what you ask them to do, they amp it up the next time until you see they are not complaining. Before it you are doing something you know is wrong because he’s convinced you it’s right.

LOL @ “increasingly ridiculous”….well the growing allegations are getting “increasingly hard to ignore….” Whether the women waited 1 year or 40 years to come forward is irrelevant…the point is, is Bill Cosby guilty of these disturbing allegations? Too bad! I don’t see how Bill Cosby can ever recover from this.
