The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) said on Sunday it was ready to organise it’s Fifth National Quiz Competition for Secondary Schools.

This is contained in a statement issued by the Head of Media of the commission, Yakubu Oluleye, in Abuja.

According to the statement, the completion is meant to further entrench the commission’s investor education campaign among the youth.

“The annual completion for secondary school students tagged ‘Catch them young’ was initiated as one of the SEC Nigeria strategies for imparting knowledge and understanding of the capital market in young Nigerians.

“It is an approach to ensure that a culture of saving and investing in the capital market takes root in young Nigerians,’’ it stated.

It said the competition was structured to hold at three levels namely: State, Zonal and National.

“At the State level, six schools from each state will compete to produce a winning school that will represent it at the zonal level. This level holds from November 10th to November 12th.

“The zonal level completion is the second elimination stage where the winning schools from each state will slug it out to come up with a winner to represent the state at the national level.

“This stage of the national level is slated for Nov. 14,’’ it stated.

It further stated that at the final stage of the competition the overall winner would be determined from the six geo-political zones of the country.

It stated that the grand finale would come up on Nov. 27 in the Federal Capital Territory.

“The competition is expected to start at 11 a.m. to 12.30p.m.each day at the state level and 9.30a.m. to 11 a.m.at the zonal levels.

“Valuable prizes will be given to the winning schools, students and teachers at all levels of the competition,’’ it added.
