A lot of the time women often say they dress for themselves, occasions or for the men in their lives…that’s not the case with Taylor Swift.

During her “1989” publicity tour, Taylor not only appeared on the cover of ASOS magazine, she also let us in on some of her style secrets – including the fact the she dresses for her BFFs.

She stated “When I’m getting dressed, it’s always based on what my friends will think. They are my number one priority and the opinions of girls are more important to me at this point in my life. But depending on the city I’m in and depending on the time of day and what mood I’m in, my choices are ever changing.”

With fashionable friends like Selena Gomez, Karlie Kloss, Lorde and Lena Dunham, we don’t think that’s such a bad idea; but is that really the best way to come up with a sense of style?

What about trends? Does she follow them? To that Taylor commented “I think that as much as you should be creative and experiment, there are certain things I know are fads and so I try to steer clear of most of the obvious ones. I play the tape of my life forward and don’t wear the things that my kids or grandkids will make fun of me for wearing – [adopts sarcastic voice] ‘Wow, cool, mom, cool cowboy boots that you were wearing constantly in 2006!’

Taylor has been on point with her red carpet and stage outfit choices recently and if she has her friends’ perspective to thank for that, then we thank them too.

We’ve all been there – your friends are rocking cropped tops and get a lot of street cred for looking good, and you think if it’s good enough for them, it should be for you too. But should the opinion of friends really determine how we dress, or should that decision be left to someone a bit closer to home…like yourself?

Love her…hate her..your cup of tea! One thing we should know is that all these stars have stylists. They are paid to source dresses that will be apealing taking into consideration the event, the culture of the people, the stars taste and brand. So actually when you see taylor swift..what you see is her brand..her stylists taste and not necessarily her personal style.

It’s a well known fact women dress to get the approval of other women not for men, as it’s widely believed. So am not surprised Taylor Swift does the same 🙂
