Former President of Nigeria Obasanjo Endorses Buhari

Olusegun Obasanjo BellaNaijaFormer president of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo, has declared his support for All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Muhammadu Buhari.

Obasanjo, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) made his perspective known during an interview with Financial Times at the launch of his autobiography, My Watch, which took place in Nairobi, Kenya according to Punch.

He stated that he believes that Buhari is fully capable of ruling the country.

“The circumstances he (Buhari) will be working under if he wins the elections are different from the one he worked under before, where he was both the executive and the legislature – he knows that. He is smart enough. He is educated enough. He’s experienced enough. Why shouldn’t I support him?”

Obasanjo also expressed confidence that Buhari would effectively tackle insecurity and corruption.

In addition, he noted that Buhari had the ability to restore the morale of the military.

“It is a question of leadership – political and military. I think you need to ask Jonathan how he let the army go to this extent. Many things went wrong: recruitment went wrong; training went wrong; morale went down; motivation was not there; corruption was deeply ingrained; andwelfare was bad.”

The former president also expressed displeasure about what he described as the rapid rate at which the nation’s resources are dwindling. He stated that when he left office, Nigeria had $45 billion in its reserve but the resources had since dwindled by more than half despite the hike in oil prices.

He also expressed concern about the postponed elections, stating that he hoped the government was not trying to manipulate the electoral process.

“I sincerely hope that the President is not going for broke and saying ‘look dammit, it’s either I have it or nobody has it’. I hope that we will not have a coup. I hope we can avoid it,” he said.

The truth is that the Yoruba elite are only supporting Buhari APC because he picked a Yoruba man as Vice, would they have supported if he had picked Amaechi or Okorocha…the ibos and south south must unite, this is not the first time Yoruba are betraying us in the south, I discussed for 2 hours with my father today, and he really broke the whole thing to me….it’s only in the south we say let’s be objective …..
Have you guys ever seen El Rufai insulting late president yar adua, despite he ran to exile because of him…GEJ is not the best, but they are only doing this to him because his from the minority…we south south should mark this down, we will regret this….President shehu shagar was a criminal, but the north still gave him second term….

if we want to be fair to all regions in Nigeria , Yoruba did presidency for 8 years, …the highest ibo has done in 16 years is senate president ….southerners open your eyes,….it’s shameful that any ibo man will vote apc, a party that doesn’t even recognise you people, the senate presidency have been zoned to Bukola saraki….and you people are here talking about Apc

so there is no ibo man that could have been Vice PresidentiCal candidate to Buhari right?…what happened to Olisa Agbakoba ,madam oby ezekwesi, pat utomi etc…lets wake up

If we want to talk about been objective, are they couldn’t have gotten a good vice presidential candidate in the entire Ibo ( south east region) or south south

This is an insult to these 2 region,

if you see the federal civil , why we southerners are entering from level 7 and level 8, the northerner come as consultants for 2 years, after 3 years, they are made assistant director, why we southerners are still struggling to grow gradually, that is why you will see a northerner 45 years old is already a director or permanent secretary, a southerner will be 50 at assistant director, by the time hE or she is 55, he will now become a director @ 55″ they will retire him

Look at the judiciary for example, the next 3 Chief Justice of the federation are from the north, why do you think it’s so…please check the last 4 chief justice of the federation…imagine this is civil service,….what happened to the office of character commission that is suppose to balance the whole thing, I work in Abuja …I know what is happening, you people are sitting on Facebook , and saying rubbish….i pity you….

I don’t know if its the education we think we have that is making us in the south been stupid, is sanusi not educated, is el Rufai not educated, is bukola saraki not educated, why can’t they all be objective enough to say, let’s allow the presidential raise be open to every candidate or every region, why are they fighting for their region….

You people should continue doing objectivity there, we will shut down the entire economy of nigeria on the 16th of February if goodluck loses…we are not fools…watch and see …that is why dollars is going up, because every one is stocking dollars so as to run away when the war start

Because of boko haram, president goodluck made a northerner national security adviser(NSA) , he gave a northerner minister of defence , he gave a northerner inspector general of police, please what do you expect him to do, put ak47 on his shoulder and go to borno state himself abi

whenever a people or any ethnic group thinks they are respected in a union, they naturally want to pull out , same thing happened in united kingdom, when english people refused to vote for Gordon Brown, the Scottish asked for a referandum to go their separate ways…we are moving in the wrong side of history

Madam ethnic group, I am Igbo and I refuse to be called a fool now lets flip the situation we have a northern leader and Igbo people were being killed under him if Yorubas support that same northern leader wont be blast them
All tribes are victims of Gejs clulessness, is it north that made him mismanage our economy after al its an IGBO woman that runs the economy
IS it north that made oil theft a norm Its a SOUTH SOUTH woman that runs oil in Nigeria
      so stop using ethnic card
now Gej is a failure there’s no two way about that
what do you expect the Hausa man to do that is family is being killed by boko haram support gej because he s from the south south
and dropping to your mind set of turn by turn didn’t gej hijack it from the north and promised to return ( south east is meant to produce next presidency) back now its his time to fight for election your chatting its our turn
lets be objective gej is a failure he was not the best south south could produce
the company i work for is losing profits thanks to devlaution and being from south south wont help so wake up from your slumber and even if we form unite with south south our votes are not enough it will be suicidal for ndigbo to throw its weight behind gej he hasnt done anything for us .

Your comment just made my day!!! God bless you my dear for speaking the truth. These days, you need to be bold to do that, so many people have lost their sight and souls to the god of greed and messy pottage. Thank you for being the light in these dark days.

May God continue to empower us to speak the truth, regardless of insults and false accusations. We do it not just for ourselves and children, but for the Voiceless who suffer daily the insecurity, corruption, cluelessness and divide-and-conquer strategy of this government. May God rescue Nigeria and bless all those who speak His Truth fearlessly, offline and online.

BTW I’m from the South-South and a Christian, but I don’t support my ‘brother’ GEJ, he has not been a very good leader. I stand by facts, not tribal, religious sentiments!

So much inaccuracies in your dross.

The truth is that the Yoruba elite are only supporting Buhari APC because he picked a Yoruba man as Vice…false.

First off, OBJ cannot stand Tinubu and would swear off APC because of that. Secondly, if you have ever read OBJ’s books, he heaps loads of praises on Buhari. Thirdly, there’s been an ongoing stand off of sorts between OBJ and GEJ. This is similar to his stance in Ogun state. He is supporting Amosun over the fractious PDP in his state. Fourthly, they have a military past.

“if he had picked Amaechi or Okorocha.” Moot point.
If you don’t know, these two men are his boys. Okorocha made a lot of money during OBJ’s regime and he will willingly support any of them.

“same thing happened in united kingdom, when english people refused to vote for Gordon Brown, the Scottish asked for a referandum to go their separate ways…we are moving in the wrong side of history”

Such ignorance. Go and read your history books on the true nature of the referendum.

“we will shut down the entire economy of nigeria on the 16th of February if goodluck loses…we are not fools…watch and see” This is akin to treason.

      You are a parochial irredentist!

      February 11, 2015 at 1:03 pm

Absolute clap trap. You are talking nonsense. We all know why some of us are supporting Buhari. That guy may have been crude in his speech and references but he is correct to a good extent. I dare say that a great number of our people will never be agitating for Buhari if he didn’t have a Yoruba man as Vice. The issue is that the Fulanis are not stupid either. Tinubu thinks he will control things by getting Osibajo to resign should Buhari win. That is the biggest fallacy. They will do to Osibajo exactly what they did to Goodluck during Yaradua”s tenure. They will ensure they never repeat the same mistake twice. Their intention is to make sure no Southerner comes close to that position for a very long time. We like to think we are sophisticated and know it all. but the truth is that God is presenting us with a choice. We either choose an imperfect man with a legion of faults but with a humble heart or we choose a rigid man with a spirit of wickedness and an open hostility towards Israel and Christianity. Please do a check on Buhari’s past you will discover that when he was Governor he stopped churches from being built, revoked Cof Os of churches and prevented any expansion of Christianity. This man picked a Fulani Muslim from Niger over a Nigerian Christian for the top OAU position despite the Nigerian being better qualified and the clear choice of all. He sabotaged his own country for his religion. That is the man some idiots are rationalizing and telling us he is the candidate for change and progress. I will stick to God’s will and I will never elevate my tribe as an idol or God. Those that choose to do so go ahead.

How many Yorubas have you heard complaining about not being part of the upper ruling powers in Nigeria. Open your eyes, instead of you to tell us what your so called south south brother has done in the past 6 years you are here talking rubbish….pls go a take several seats back joor. To be honest I don’t care where the next president of Nigeria comes from, if you like bring someone from Bakassi or the Gulf of Guinea, all I want and expect is that the person is competent and wants to do good by the people he swore to serve. Jonathan has not demonstrated that right now and he is getting worse by the day. This argument to take the ethnocentric route will only destroy the country as a unit.
By the way, the economy of the western part of Nigeria will not crash if south south decides to secede. You forget that we have oil too and we are the financial backbone of the nation and more homogenous in culture and language. Please, I pray to you that if you do move forward to secede that you agree to allow Jonathan to continue as your president. It is only fair to impose him on yourself too.

OBJ should know about rigging! He masterminded the most rigged election in this present republic (2003).
Is a man who only half-heartedly tackled corruption better than one who did nothing?
Who started weakening the military (for the purpose of making them incapable of executing coups)?
All in all, I think OBJ’s administration is better than GEJ’s. His administration set the foundation for the growth we are experiencing now.

Yoruba conspiracy at its finest- so our people will rather die with Northerners who are not working in the interest of the entire country than be ruled for a South-south man. This is why yorubaland remains cursed. didn’t learn a thing from Biafra and now the next generation endures the hatred that almost split the country apart then. what a waste of political experience. Yorubas should be ashamed. History has proven that the hatred against ibos is evil and unwarranted. The north has produced Boko Haram that operates unchallenged despite all the Northern wealth and influence to root them out. Yet Yorubas with their greedy souls and tribalism is supporting a man because he chose a yoruba VP- really? how stupid. Its like buying a car because of the paint, corruption has existed long before President J and Northerners are the champions of it. Eating the benefits of southern wealth without helping to preserve it, thinking they own Nigeria. Only God knows the blessings we have missed with this tribalism (far worse than the racism we experience in the west), the black man has a lot of curses to break

    God help Nigeria

      February 11, 2015 at 10:49 am

You are obviously not Yoruba. I am not for or against your comment, but why do you have to pretend to be a Yoruba person to make it? Why does this even have to be a ethnic issue

    • oyin

      February 11, 2015 at 11:05 am

Don’t be silly, I’m from Ibadan and a child of a pdp man who spent his life fighting for sanity in oyo state and beyond, a very educated man that hated Yoruba deception and passed away recently. I gave Muslim relatives who like puppets support this insanity and will pay for it. I know my history and my people, we should be ashamed of ourselves

    • Nahum

      February 11, 2015 at 11:35 am

But Oyin, what I do not understand is why you feel Yorubas should be ashamed. What exactly should they be ashamed of? A Yoruba General has made HIS choice of candidate known, and then all of a sudden the entire Yoruba ethnic group should be ashamed? Why exactly? When did choosing a Presidential candidate become a thing of shame and why is it all of a sudden a witch hunt against the Yorubas?

Please don’t be offended, I truly want to understand your reasoning here

    • Nahum

      February 11, 2015 at 11:43 am

Okorocha has endorsed Buhari, does that mean all Igbo people should be ashamed as well?

    • Komi

      February 11, 2015 at 12:52 pm

No wonder, you are the child of the likes of Adedibu and Akala who destroyed Ibadan. Until Oyo State kicked out PDP we never had peace. You and your father should be ashamed that their evil party PDP brought nothing good to Oyo State.everyone who grew up in Ibadan or anywhere in Oyo State can testify to the menace that yor father and his likes caused and that is why we say no to PDP

    • Rotimi Lawanson

      February 11, 2015 at 1:11 pm

I am Yoruba and we must call a spade a spade. I agree 100% with what that person wrote. I am a Christian and a staunch one at that. I can clearly see a conspiracy between our people and the North and it doesn’t bode well. You can rationalize all you want but the truth can never be altered. We are at crossroads. God has finally put us on the spot and we either going to have to choose between our Him or our yearnings for our tribesman and Buhari. I know so many of our people who were openly hostile to Buhari and even abused him. They said he was too old, too radical and an unchangeable dictator. They rejected him and said they wanted someone else who was more progressive but as soon as he picked Osibajo he became a wonderful and excellent man with a good track record. Who are we deceiving. We cannot deceive God. It is time to tell ourselves some home truths.

Yorubas embraced Jonathan when he was presented in 2011, the rise against Jonathan is solely is own doing, he’s a FAILURE IN ALL RAMIFICATIONS. Like Dexter said, his declaration amounts to only 1 PVC (hopefully) This endorsement rubbish sef, does it really work in Nigeria? It sure as heck doesn’t make me want to vote for Buhari. It’s not like Obasanjo is some kind of moral compass. They are thieves as far as I am concerned. All these people fighting Jonathan are not fighting for Nigeria. They are fighting for their pockets. They want change so they can also benefit from the national cake because the President has refused to play ball. It is well with Nigeria.

Nobody shld eva say yorubas support buhari bcos of osinbanjo, enven b4 he piked osibanjo he had our support, the only tin dat wld hv made yorubas turn their back on buhari is if he picked tinubu as his vice. Back to the matter even under jonathan what did he do for the igbo’s that are suporting him,dey even had a greater chance in apc dan pdp but they failed to see it. Jonathan has divided this country along religion and ethnic lines more than any other president. Putting all sentiments aside, jonathan has failed, what you see naw is a revolution of tired Nigerians. If your sister was part of those chibok girls you wont be talking osinbanjo naw,the trillons stolen by nnpc, do u know what it wld hv done 2 d destiny of Nigeria, minister of petroleum used over 10 billon naira to service private jets in a country where 70% live below the poverty line of 1 dollar a day,he gave the coastline maintainance to tompolo,a militant, what is the job of the navy biko, in a country like the us can asari dokubo still be walking the streets freely after he has severally threatened the whole Nigeria, the video of how they rigged ekiti election,is the police investigating already, what did they do to sanusi bcos he exposed them, without him will Nigerians know how nnpc was squandering funds, what happened to our oil reserves knowing that obj left a huge amount dere,is effc investigating it,dont forget stella oduah, how can you remove the security of the speaker of a whole house of rep,the bokoharam they could not fight in 6 years they want t fight in 6 weeks, who is fooling who, nigeria is begging to gather debts, the debts obasanjo paid off,it took jonathan 2 weeks to fully admit that the chibok girls were kidnapped,go and check what the president of Jordan did immediately they heard isis had killed their pilot.all of a sudden pdp has rejected the use of card reader for the forthcoming election, why are they scared, can someone just tell me why. People kip saying they cant vote for buhari bcos of tinubu callin him a thief, at least that’s the only recognized thief in apc abi, in pdp count the amount of thieves starting from patience jonathan herself who is actively involved in the crude oil business in the south south, to Allison madueke, okonje iwela the liar who generates figures that are not physically representing in the Nigerian economy. I tire sef,no one is perfect but one is a lesser evil.Come march we march for buhari/osinbanjo, 2 men with clean hands that even the pdp cannot soil, nigeria needs action not certificate, we all know that certificate does not guarantee a successful future but ur actions do.If buhari dsnt win we accept but weve sent a strong signal to jonathan that the citizens are fed up.Merci

you are an irrepressible -. What you said is untrue. It is a lie and you know it. How can APC have more change for Southerners? Do you even know what is going on? You think Tinubu is in control? You must be the biggest – of all. The Fulanis are masters at disguise and subterfuge. Go and find out what they are planning because i happen to know. They plan to take back power and never to relinquish it again. You may say that is ridiculous but that is the plan. Fulanis never make idle threats. When they say they will do something they ALWAYS do it. Go and ask any Northern minority or Middle Belt person. When they said they will make Nigeria ungovernable they meant it and they are carrying it out in a clinical fashion. Once they seize control of government you will see how quickly they would shove Tinubu and co aside. They have their own master plan of what they intend doing. They will execute it very quickly and boldly. They have allowed Tinubu to keep having the illusion that he is the one calling the shots, The only comfort i have is that they will never get into that position. If you like go and keep thinking you are a progressive by supporting APC. You don’t even know when you are dining with the devil. Please ask God to open your eyes so you see the truth.

I’m sorry for this man. Sower of confusion. In one party but endorsing another candidate. He might as well defect, he’s a detriment to his own. No one will change their vote either way because of his endorsement. That’s the level of lack of influence he has. Aside from Paris Club, what were his key achievements in two terms as president?

At this point in time, everyone knows who they will vote for. Let March 28th hurry up and come.

For all the people pretending to be Yoruba and decided to curse/bash Yoruba people, shame on you. 2011 was just 4 years ago nah, try to remember. Didn’t Yoruba people support GEJ back then?

I honestly how some people think sometimes. If BH had been killing South-Westerners, nobody will complain that Yoruba are supporting GMB (even with a Yoruba VP candidate). But no, because we have not been directly affected, Yoruba people are cursed because they want a change right? Like i have always said, anyone (Yoruba o/Hausa o/Ibo o/Fulani o) but GEJ, he has done enough. From Deputy Governor to Governor to VP to President! Haba, is it only for him? He too should go and rest at home!

I only read the first paragraph of Godspower tirade and stopped. I am disheartened it garnerned so many “likes”.. Is it as simple as ethnic groupings? I think not. It is about continued failings in all sectors, healthcare, education, social welfare.. heck! life in general. Not to talk of our shameful reputation internationally. People should understand the power of a vote. If something isnt broken, dont fix it. Nigeria is smashed to smithereens. Change it, if Buhari turns out to be a narcissitic sociopath, vote him out in the next elections. To keep with the status quo suggests, we are so afraid of tomorrow.. we will gladly suffer today.

I do not know you but for this comment, may God bless you tremendously!

For people saying OBJ did not do anything, the fact that he paid our debt and left billions of dollars in the reserve is far greater than what GEJ had done! Yes i said it! All of you, imagine if your sister was among the chibok girls, truthfully, would you say you are now supporting GEJ? The same Chibok girls that took our PhD President two whole weeks to acknowledge the fact that they are missing. Nitori Olorun, think about the parents of those girls, do you think any one of them would wholeheartedly support GEJ?
Our educated president decided not to go to Borno state all these years until a month to the elections (before the postponement). Ondo state workers were not paid December salaries until two weeks ago i.e. they celebrated Christmas without their salaries. PS: the governor is a Yoruba man o – a political party whore who has run from AD to PDP to Labour party and finally defected to PDP last year. They have no hope of when January salary will come. And i heard almost all states are having difficulties paying salaries (don’t know how true this is). What are they doing with the allocations FG sends them every month? or is FG no longer sending allocations?

The money OBJ left, GEJ administration squandered it and put us in debt again.

Just answer one question; if your sister was one of the Chibok girls, would you still support GEJ?

NIGERIA as a nation is in big trouble if ethnicity is what we are using as the root. We should not give a damn where the next President is from. Our main concern is getting our country stable. Choosing the right leader who we feel is going to make our nation a better place for future generations should be our ultimate goal. The mentality we have is saddening! We are ONE.. ONE nation, ONE Nigeria!

Why does ethnicity or even religion have to come into play?
Why as individuals do we curse ourselves and then point fingers at our “leaders” for doing the same thing we are doing?

There he goes again – the only President ( ex-general ) who willingly and gladly ceded parts of his country to Cameroun without firing a shot. Which, for me, is by far the worst atrocity ever committed against the Nigerian state.
I would have been surprised if he endorsed GEJ because the latter is the change he detests. He’s a part of the change that started in 2007 when OBJ handed over to Yaradua. That was when they stopped ruling Nigeria as though it’s Animal Farm. OBJ cannot stand that change, especially when it’s being led by ‘his boy’ over whom he no longer has control. If I was a neutral I’d choose Jonathan after reading OBJ’s comments because I know they must have been informed by greed and love for himself. The factors that drive most of the endorsements by the elite in this election have nothing to do with political parties or Chibok girls. They only want to take us back to where we’re coming from, where they held sway wihout reservations. And yet they call it change.
A vote against Buhari is a vote against that old order. It’s a vote against slavery.

You all supporting buhari, and saying we should be objective , if apc are not choosing based on ethnicity or religion, how come buhari is the best of what they have….the reason I don’t blame many of you, is that you guy live in Lagos , and the private sector is doing very well, the economy of Lagos state is bigger than that of Kenya and Ghana joined together, Lagos state gdp is 26 percent of the entire Nigeria gdp, but we in the other part of the south knows what we are passing through, I raised questions of the northerners joining the civil service at level 13, or entering as consultants then after 2 or 3 years, they are made assistant director, why graduate from the south will start from level 7

Please tell me, how many southerner you know that are became permanent secretary at the age of 45, very rare or impossible , but come to Abuja, many of the children of these rich civil servants don’t start from level 7 or level 8

Absolutely rubbish, Scottish people love school more than English people, so why didn’t the mark the O levels or A levels separately , something is wrong with our Union in Nigeria , we need a sovereign national conference to discuss on the terms we should continue to live together

Hmm my own crazy conspiracy theory is that these Yoruba politicians are pretty smart people they are not looking at this whole issue for short-term gains, looking at Buhari he looks very frail and if anything happens while he is in power( That’s not my wish for him but life happens),guess who becomes president ;)! well deep diving into Osibanjo’s profile i think he will make a smart president.

As for the elections aside from the fact that GEJ dines and wines with corruption, APC gets my vote because GEJ lacks the willpower to solve the Boko haram issue, his approach to the whole issue is appalling, he has no regards for the lives of the average Nigerian. The only way we can help our fellow Nigerians suffering from the daily torment of Boko Haram is to vote in someone who will at least try to solve the problem and also curtail this brewing monster( Boko Haram) before its at eveyone’s doorstep and GEJ is definitively not the man!!!

I support GEJ. All I can say is that coup deta have taken another dimension. If we let it start, this will not be the end of it. Violence has remained endemic in the North today because when it started in the 60s, everyone turned their eyes away and the culprits were never brought to justice.

I respect OBJ for coming out to endorse GMB. At least we now know where he stands.

Tribalism and region aside, My analytical skills have refused to see why Buhari should win this election.

Why do Nigerians keep deceiving themselves saying we are one? We are not frigging one!! If we are one why is there like people have observed different cut off marks for uni entrance? If we are one why do you go toso many govt parastatels they say no vancancy but you see so many northern new faces every damn day,i thought no vacancy and the reply is oh “he arrived on the sardauna of sokotos list
If we are truly one how come no ethnic minority had ever been presented to runfor the presidency if not for the randomness that got GEJ there in the first place? If we are one how isit thatmost oil wells are owned by by Northerners when the oil is in the south.
If religion doesn’t play a part show me the average northern muslim who will vote gej. The same man they refer to as an infidel. I am well educated with 3 degrees just lilke most southerners but truth be told the average uneducated northerner is WiSeR because he understands the principle of unity, they never sell out their own.

    • Beeeee

      February 11, 2015 at 3:34 pm

I love your last sentence “……because he understands the principle of unity, they never sell out their own”…..we can jump on blogs sounding politically correct and say “we are one, it’s not about religion” but if we truly open our eyes and remove all the sentiments for a minute, would see better. The President did more for the North than he did for his own state and his own region, but when their own was presented as the presidential candidate, it was all “Sai Buhari” everywhere. No matter what all of us say in public, there is an ethnic bias in everyone. The only difference is some people’s bias is more pronounced than others. Are the northerners voting for Buhari because they know he will do well for them? NO. They are voting him because he is their person. Many of them might not mind suffering while he is in office as long as their person is the President, that’s all that matters. Yes Buhari has supporters all around the country but at the end of the day, the majority of his votes will come from the north and those votes will not be based on his merit, it would be based on “our person” because they never sell out their own.

    • Y

      February 11, 2015 at 4:35 pm

Well-said Beeee, especially on the President doing more for the North than for his state and region. That is so true. But they still hate him. He’s still an infidel. That’s the injustice and shortsightedness that kills Nigeria.

A lot of people think Jonathan is dumb, BIG MISTAKE. Jonathan has a deceptive innocent face with “benevolent behavior ” so when he takes decisions that seem obviously wrong people think he is stupid, clueless and weak.

But Jonathan is not stupid neither is he weak, every action he takes is well calculated. His whole thought process is focused on the primitive accumulation of wealth, therefore all his actions are geared towards corrupt enrichment and the covering up of corruption. Election manipulation is part of the Jonathan corruption processes

Let’s just watch and see what happens next, JEGA is definitely on his way out and someone from their camp that will dance really well to their tune will be the one to conduct the election..

What i need now is a president who can encourage a protectionist economy like China’s and grow this country’s econmy. The rate at which resources but natural and man made are dwindling is alarming. Capital and Manpower flight is at its highest.

The present government keeps screaming high rate of foreign investors, people who make all the money here and take it back to their country and offer to pay Nigerians laborers wage., peanuts and they keep celebrating these foreign investors. They come as a group and build stores in the most strategic locations and thereby destroy the small shop who was servicing the neighborhood.

We need a president who can drill down the ranks by putting up checks that will curtail the excesses of these state and local govts, a president they will be scared to cross cos of the repercussions.

That is just all i need. A president who isnt just booksmart but street smart.
The one we have has proven to be a weak, let us change him and if the next one fails, we change him. Please people, put aside all these ethnic differences and think of the best future for Nigeria

Not surprised Obasanjo has openly declared for Buhari,

OBJ endorsing cycled leaders, may be after Buhari it will be IBB, and After Gowon while himself OBJ warm up for third term as it is only ex military men that can rule Nigeria!

Suddenly OBJ is in the same boat with the new born again Atiku,Tinubu,Amechi,Bukola.

What is this soap that washes these former disgruntled PDP once they step into APC?

If Lai Mohammed was in PDP we all would have been hurling insults.

Dr Jonathan is suffering for his refusal to be an OBJ stooge! Yes OBJ is disappointed that his script are not acted verbatim.

This blame on Jonathan’s government where the failures of these past leaders! OBJ.Buhari,IBB, Shehu, name them.

I have told you before that Jonathan is no saint but far more an Angel than a Buhari.

The Nigerian people by now know Boko haram has effectively worked against Jonathan.

History will vindicate Jonathan if he looses and may be in the next 25 -50 years another south Southerner or a South Easterner becomes a president and Boko haram resurface if nigeria is still an entity.

I am emotional because I have experienced APC to know that it is a party without a atom of democracy. It is a party where opposition is not tolerated. Its is a party for the few.

Most APC supporters have never had another experience so their is no other experience that they know and so can’t compare but stick to what they know.
I have experienced both and so I know that PDP position holders are not only more magnanimous, open, tolerant, open to criticism, have conscience, are silent when wrong, are ashamed when they are called thieves, are human but succinctly democratic.

PDP may be bad but sure has Nigeria as heterogeneous society close to her heart. It is a party who involves all tribes, dialect and tongue at heart.

Ada mu Muazu is Hausa, Olise Metu is Ibo, Fani Kayode is Yoruba.

Didn’t you see APC would be ministers? Did you find all Nigerians represented? not a soul from the South East how much more from Nupe, Tiv, Efik, Ibibio,Isoko, Idoma, Ebira, Urhrobo, Ibibio etc.

Rather I saw Abike Dabiri, Fayemi, Fashola, El rufai, and a south southerner and APC sponsor Amechi.

Tinubu and Buhari has signed and shared the quota of number of ministers to enforce.

Can we fold our hands and watch Tinubu and Buhari share Nigeria? God forbid!

What of our oil field? So Tinubu will decide who now owns it? Some thing tells me the APC charmed it’s supporters!

Why support blindly and don’t see a set of people swearing under and oath as to how to share it’s loots-called Nigeria!

Lagos people are working, APC Tinubu is getting the tax, his company alpha beta is getting a whole 10% of all our taxes.

Artisan are working hard in Lagos, Lagos state official are harassing them and reaping them off.

Lagos is multi taxing it’s workers, multiple taxation abound. I pay tax in the USA to get good infrastructure and assistance from government, road, health care, free school for children, free school bus and lunch for children in top notch schools, yet I pay tax in Nigeria and still pay my exorbitant school fees, pay per use on the toll gates, sink my borehole, pay my gate man, treat my water, tarr my street, build drainage on my street, pay omonile all sorts etc.

Nigerian keep making mistakes, Nigeria as a country is about to be privatised and be ruled by a few. I reject it.

The Founders of APC are the most corrupt being that exists!

APC is a wolf in sheep clothing. Its founders are infamous!

APC is a private party owned by few.

Your freedom of speech will seize to exist!
Your involvement in government will be a thing of the past.
You will not have a say and your wishes will not be respected.
You will be milked until you are dry.
It’s policies will be anti people oriented
All the other arm of government will be APC handlers stooge.
APC will completely frustrate opposition and there will be non.

I refuse to join men who murder opponents.
    Funsho Williams, Dipo Dina, etc

I refuse to join men who rejoice over the spills of blood in the North East.

I refuse to join men who wishes Nigerians soaked in their blood

I refuse to join men who has made Nigeria and North East ungovernable

I refuse to join a man who want to get parallel government

I refused to join men who will not consider me in its policies.

I refuse to submit to a government of family. Business. Olorunibe Mamora stepped for Remi Tinubu business, he dropped Sarah Sosan,Fashola first deputy and picked another one for Fashola and the puppet who runs mouth diarrhoea when it is in calling Jonathan name kept mute.

I refuse to submit for men who victimise non APC carrying members in the market.

I refuse to join men whose presidential candidate does not understand government Aka I will stablise oil price.

APC is not a mature party and not an alternative to PDP.

It is a makeshift party with different non patriotic objectives to take power from Jonathan.

When the time comes and another nigeria oriented party come up we will know but for now NO TO PRIVATISATION OF NIGERIA by greedy half humans under a scattered broom called APC!

Obasanjo,IBB, Economist etc can endorse Buhari born to rule but that will not make me change my mind towards GEJ. No to god father ism.

No to oligocracy – government by the few. We stand for democracy!

Hmnnnnn……….. I shed tears for the south west and their decision to back an Islamist all because they have used a pastor to deceive them that they are open and friendly to Christianity. OH yes the PDP is not the best, but at least they are not a muslim party and are open to all tribes in the nation. Mark my words they will take us to the early 80’s when to get any meaningful position in Nigerian both in govt. or parastatal or ministry you must be a muslim or know one who is. APC is a big deception. APC supporting boko haram shows they are enemies of Nigeria.

@Tony I can’t stop laughing at your comment. Nene wrote an entire epistle trying to convince us otherwise and you responded with just two words, sai Buhari! I’m not ready for another four years of ineptitude and bad governance, we have tried! I’m a Christian and I’m supporting Buhari and this has nothing to do with his running mate, it’s just the desire to see things take a different direction. Most comments about Buhari and assumptions and unfactual. Agreed, he was a dictator UNDER the military regime but would dare not take the same approach under a democratic government, should he become president(Amen), neither can he ‘Islamize’ Nigeria. How is that even possible Biko? Constitution no dey again? Weitin happen to our legislators that they’ll just allow one man impose his religion on everyone against their will? Think people! . It’s unfortunate we are left with these two choices which I’m not excited about, but to endorse President Good Luck’s government would be unfair to my generation. He may be a nice man as an undividual but he’s surrounded by misguided, corrupt, selfish and extremely greedy people that don’t deserve a second chance. Nigeria ought to be greater than this, it’s 2015 and we are still struggling with problems some nations went through a century ago!

I’ve read through a whole lot of comments and just realised that those shouting that we should sstop using ethnic sentiments in our reasoning are mostly from south of the niger. Majority of us (social media warriors) do not have our PVC’s and the ratio of those who have their’s to those market women and the massses in general should be around 1:10. A whole lot of us sit in the comfort of our homes and office and try to shove their opinions down others throat didn’t go for any of the political rallies. Ssome of us can’t even stand thhe sun but here we are champions. We need change in nigeria but I think the plaayingg fielld is marred. Buhari isn’t the change we need neither is GEJ. But my opinion is he is lesser of two evils. Rather than we the youth fighting ourselves on social media I’d suggest we start strategising 2019 (including prayer n fasting, visiting juju priest whatever hoping they #abacha off jejely). How to get these old men outand how to make nigeria the country we all want. With out us these guys cant continue dragging the country down.

GEJ is not intelligent neither is he percpetive. It doesnt take having a Phd to be a leader or to succeed in business, all it requires is to be able to make tough decisions and sorround yourself with very capable advisors. What would it take for GEJ to launch a comprehensive investigation into the activities of the petroleum ministry and if found wanting remove DAM as a show of strength? Proscute Aba Moro for the fees collected and resultant deaths from the immigration recruitment exercise? How can you go on national television and state that there is a difference between corruption and stealing ! What does it take to engage the full force of the army in flushing out Boko haram, after all he was once noted as saying he knew the sponsors of the group and infact that they were part of his government. You are the president, the CinC of Nigeria, that means you have absolute power, no one should be a sacred cow! The man simply has no spine, and he is averse to constructive criticism. He has lost the confidence of Nigerians and hes looking more desperate to cling on to power by the day. I will be very surprised if he can pull off a win next month, he is dealing with formidable opposition in the likes of Tinubu, Ameachi, Fayemi, Osibanjo, and Gen Buhari. Bottomline, it is not “business as usual” anymore.

Neither do you need intelligence to be a thieve like Tinubu, who you are supporting as he bleeds Lagos dry, and now wants to extend that to the national level. The yorubas feel they do not need any other group in Nigeria save for the hausa/fulani, that smacks of arrogance that will lead to their fall. Stop scorning other groups it will come to bite you.

ME virtually said I’d have loved to say on this issue. I voted for GEJ in 2011, but it is with utmost disappointment that I must agree that he’s failed despite that majority of Nigerians supported him. The issue of voting for an ex-general wouldn’t have even come up if GEJ had performed well in all sectors especially in security and the fight against corruption. God willing I shall be casting my vote for GMB come March 28th and if he fails after 4 years, we shall kick him out too!

When the Nazis came for the communists,
    I remained silent;
    I was not a communist.

When they locked up the social democrats,
    I remained silent;
I was not a social democrat.

When they came for the trade unionists,
    I did not speak out;
I was not a trade unionist.

When they came for the Jews,
    I remained silent;
    I wasn’t a Jew.

    When they came for me,
there was no one left to speak out. ~ Martin Niemoller

Let’s change now while we still have the power to. Mr President said Nigeria is only having its fair share of the global terrorism. If Its indeed true, I say Nigeria is at war. You, Mr President Sir, are the not kind of person I want leading me in a war.

I listened to GMB interviews online and still saw an intolerant man.

Yes I just did. I saw a man who responded to a question by saying “who ever does not endorse him should join the PDP and other mushroom party”
Please watch on youtube and see for your self.

Which of the party is mushroom?? KOWA, NATIONAL CONCIENCE PARTY? I told you this man is not tolerant.

Why the arrogance? Is it because APC governors have taxed its citizens and Nigerians to fund its campaign that he is now feeling like he is a president?

He may have a military skill but their is a famous saying that skill can get you far but attitude takes you far beyond your skill.
He kept saying EKITI was rigged? and I asked where not same military might deployed to OSUN where PDP lost?

Buhari is a very bad looser and doesn’t see any good side of GEJ and too old to be intolerant.

Ms. Nene, you seem disgruntled that opposition party is having a strong hold and has come to stay, CAN you kindly go back to your state? where your folds are of the same political party as you, you seem like an intolerant looser, APC has come to stay, and frankly speaking, you will have deal with that for a very long time, or you may go back to your state, you’re no yoruba, I’m not being tribalist, I’m only putting forward to you the options you have.

Most of you south easterners are jokers, one minute, some of you’re clamoring for Biafra, and you live and do business in other parts of the country, today Igbo people find dwelling forte in South west, but your folks are not tolerant, IGBO are two faced, hypocritical bunch, and it’s a shame that other tribes have been very accommodating of your ilks, especially in south western states, South eastern states are the least developed in the country, and your guess is as good as mine as to why. You can go back to your state if you’re not happy with political clime in the Lagos, and take your business with you!

Conglomerate please which south western state is more developed than Ebonyi state apart from Lagos which we all know how development got so far therein? I don’t want to go into other stellar south eastern states, pray please which one. kindly educate we two faced, hypocritical southeastern bunch? we are waiting. Although I know you ve never been to anywhere apart from Lagos including your village, I will indulge you to tell me which state? As for me, i didn’t want Jonathan before, god forbid I vote Buhari, I was thinking of voting the KOWA woman although I knew she might not win but God forbid it that I vote for evil, lesser or more. but If Obasanjo endorsed Buhari instead of his stooge Jonathan, then maybe Jonathan is an angel, if devil himself endorses someone then the person must be the son of the devil. Obasanjo ke endorsing Buhari?, Kai! I dont want to know the basis of their deal but it would be the worst the Nigerian common man will ever experience. This shows that the Buhari plot is larger than we can ever fathom. OBJ Endorsing Buhari Kai! i just cant deal.. what evil plot are they hatching? what evil deal have they made to impoverish Nigeria common man. If OBJ can concede to make a deal with his arch enemy Tinubu against Jonathan?, if two mega thieves come in collusion against one other thief how much plunder do they want to take? Kai! I just cant process the thoughts in my mind, and our youths are so blind that they only options they have are APC – Association of Past Criminals and PDP- People Deceiving People.. God save Nigeria!

You obviously are racist, and equally daft, 99% of yorubas in lagos are from other states like kwara, oyo and so on, Igbos came to lagos because it was the administrative center of Nigeria like everybody else, it could easily have been anywhere in the country. Now Abuja is the administrative center of Nigeria and it is open to all Nigerians so shut your mouth. Same Yorubas live in the UK and the USA and claim citizenship and privileges, but deny fellow Nigerians born in Lagos their right to be a citizen of Lagos. If Obama had been born in Lagos they will never allow him become the governor. Stop abusing a race, because you want power, go ahead and back buhari let us see the result. APC wants to islamise Nigeria mark my words, Buhari has stated his agenda long ago, Sharia in every state as soon as.

When will Yoruba people have the courage to just say “I am racist” and proud? Why not just state the obvious? The mouth is yours. Na you get am. Who will take your olongo mouth from you? Nobody. Just call it what it is. It is your mouth, your words, and you can only be judged by God because he really knows what is in your heart. That is all. You are just eager to get a yoruba man in power or Jonathan is no longer accessible to you like before. Just speak what you feel and stop all this wrangling and semantic journeys. tomorrow now, if Boko Haram gets worse under Buhari, they will say he manufactured it. People will say “Oh, if it was Jonathan…” If Boko Haram is decimated, they will say oh but now we have no water to drink and it is Buhari’s fault. You all are like the children of Israel; punished with an extra 40 year walk through the desert because of your impatience and sinful nature. Why should Nigeria be successful when every single leader we have had was involved in STEALING? He whey no collect 1 kobo, TALK NOW!!!!! And stealing is not driving to CBN with guns and asking the governor to load your bullion van with cash. Not heist level material. I am talking about influencing who gets what contract, what oil lease…preferential access to information that gives you the ability to create wealth when others can’t, enabling thieves under you to commit thievery, etc

On this favoritism based on tribe/religion, Northerners are not the only culprits.

I will not use Kwara State/Unilorin as an example (cos it is not strictly a Yoruba state) but i will use LAUTECH (in Ogbomoso, Oyo State – one of the prominent Yoruba states). I did pre-degree exam for LAUTECH in 2005, the cut-off mark for non-indigenes was far higher than the one for indigenes. I know of a town in Ondo state (i’m sure of this cos i’m from the state), if an indigene of that town is in a high position, another indigene just has to come and speak their dialect – gbam! the person has gotten a job no matter the qualification.

My point; almost all Nigerians (i used almost here) are guilty of this favoritism. You think all these universities/parastatals do not have a list of candidates from either VCs/Kings of the towns etc? Or you think companies do not get list of “favorable candidates” from the companies’ chairmen? I know Southern Christians (Yorubas) who will first of all consider doing favor for people based on their tribe and religion.

So please while we are bashing Northerners, let us remember that Southerners are not that innocent.

I think the problem of Nigeria remains undue sentiment, believe me every Nigerian will be glad to vote for one family continually so long as that family is doing Nigerians proud when it comes to good governance but for the fact that the past and present government have taken governance to be a way of improving the lots of close families, close friends and associates to the detriment of the general Nigerians that’s why every section will continue to attach sentiment in selection of who leads Nigeria and by so doing we will continue to get it wrong. No one should be blamed for the inability of any ibo man to occupy any high political office in Nigeria rather blame the igbos themselves for being so selfish and have all fail to work collectively for the good of their people but have chosen to work individually for personal gain. For Nigeria to be ok, sentiment must be thrown away in dealing with any national issue else we have a long way to go. I think Jonathan’s government failed not because he alone choses to fail but both the governors, state assemblies and all members of national assembly during this dispensation have all failed the nation while Jonathan MUST take a larger share of the Blame. Most of the failures though can be stressed to past governments. some Governors on the other hand, are far better than others though some have performed below expectation considering the huge financial resources at their disposal. Nigerians must unite if we must move on.
