???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Just because you’ve got oily skin, doesn’t mean makeup isn’t for you!

I know I’m not the only one who hates it when my makeup shifts, and starts to look creased and messy after my face gets oily. Well, having oily skin can’t really be controlled, but what can be controlled is how it affects your makeup.

Here are 7 tips for women with oily skin on how you can start and end your day still looking gorgeous.

Check it out!

1. Always Prime your skin
I know a lot of women try to keep their makeup routines simple – foundation, powder, eye liner, mascara, lipstick – done. But if you want to have great looking makeup from the start of the day to close of business, you will need to include a primer to your makeup kit.

Primers help keep makeup in place – which can be a major battle if you have oily skin. Applying it to your entire face or at least oil-prone areas like your T-Zone (forehead, nose & chin), will help reduce oil that can ruin your makeup.

Be sure to always include an eyeshadow primer too. These primers have been specifically designed for the eyelid, which means your eyeshadows won’t crease and crack from oil.

2. Use translucent powder for touch-ups
Most times when you see your face getting oily and sticky, the reflex action you take is to grab more pressed/compact powder and reapply. After all, you will wash your face at night right?

The over-application of this kind of powders can increase the production of more oil from the skin, which will just make the situation worse. An easy solution is to use translucent powders instead. They are light, and will take away your shine faster for longer.

3. Always carry blotting paper
Another key item you need to have with you is blotting paper. They should be your best friend, next to your primer.

The key to using blotting paper is to dab the face and not wipe. If you wipe, then say goodbye to your powders, blush etc because it will take it all off. Dabbing the face and letting the blotting paper roll off or peel off of your face is easier and will act as a way to secure your makeup even further.

4. Get products that contain Glycolic Acid
Glycolic acid is great when it comes to breaking down oils. So if you get toners and cleansers that have it as a potent chemical, this will help your cause a lot.

You can also get products that contain salycilic acid; it will help break down excess oils on your skin even before you apply makeup.

5. Use oil-free products
Since you already have a problem with too much oil on your skin, it would not be advisable for you to buy makeup products that contain oil.

Oil-free products help oily skin by providing a balance, so your makeup doesn’t end up looking all wrong.

6. Use long-wear or Water-proof makeup
Oil and water do the same thing to makeup – they cause it to crease, move and slip. So, it is better to use water-proof makeup to help smudge-proof and crease-proof your makeup. This will cause it to last longer.

7. Use less lotions prior to making up
I know a lot of women like to apply loads of creams and lotions as part of their skin care regimen, but you might have to keep this strictly to nighttime.

Using all these lotions during the day while you have oily skin can cause your skin to feel even heavier and make your makeup even worse. It can even lead to breakouts from clogged pores which will then open a whole new chapter.

In case you already made this mistake and have breakouts, check out tips on what to do when you have breakouts here.
