A statement issued by Reuben Abati, Special Adviser, Media and Publicity to the President in Abuja, stated that the appointment was in furtherance of the President’s efforts to continuously re-energise and reposition Federal Government agencies for optimal service delivery. The statement added that the new SURE-P chairman hailed from Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State, with a Bachelors’ degrees in the arts and law.

It noted that “Akau comes to the job with years of experience as a high-level administrator in the nation’s public service. It stated that the new SURE-P boss was the Chairman of the Kaduna State Universal Education Board and Chairman of the National Assembly Service Commission.

It also revealed that President Jonathan thanked the outgoing Chairman of SURE-P, Agwai, for his service to the nation and wished him well in his future endeavours.
