Senate Confirms Musiliu Obanikoro’s Nomination as Minister

Obanikoro BellaNaija

The Nigerian Senate on Wednesday confirmed Musiliu Obanikoro‘s nomination as minister after repeated deferments.

His nomination has sparked a bit of controversy as he was appointed by President Goodluck Jonathan despite allegations that Obanikoro played a key role in the purported election fraud in Ekiti, Premium Times reports.

The report also states that because Obanikoro is a former senator himself, “the Senate allowed him to ‘take a bow and go,’ without answering questions, a privilege reserved for former federal lawmakers.”

APC lawmakers are said to have responded by walking out of the session in protest.

Obanikoro recently took to Twitter to express his thoughts on his nomination:

The trap is already set for all of you and you keep digging yourseives more and more into ithe hole. Greed has impaired your better judgement and good luck to you all cus you will need it when that bitter time comes. You never learn from history , go ask Gbabo, his wife, Charles Taylor et al.

{This will never happen in any developed country.} …… yeah right!? so what will you say happened in USA in 99/00, when Hillary Clinton was going to be a senator and Peter Paul n Stan Lee raised a million dollars for her and her campaign team and she later turned around with the support of her Husband. the then president, Bill Clinton to deny ever knowing who peter Paul was. Bottom line is that, it was the biggest electoral Fraud in the history of the US till that time. However, you will be amazed to know what the then President did @ the time. (Bill Clinton) that is, he hand-picked the judge for the case against his wife and the rest is History.

Although, To say im dead chuffed or completely surprised with his appointment/confirmation will make be a complete dimwit. I just think this goes to show how corruption has been entrenched in the psyche, imaginations and reality of our so-called Elites!! the Corruption in NIgeria seems to be here to stay. JEJ cant do nothing to stop it as many have been clamoring, not because hes clueless or weak but simply because he knows better not to throw stones whilst living in a Glass house!!

I am completely burnt out with this election fiasco, I have given up- it is now up to Nigerians to decide what their “suffer-head” tolerance threshold is; at one point when they have suffered long and hard enough, then they will take to the street and demand a better standard of living for themselves and better quality of leaders, their future and their children’s future depends on it. When they do decide they’ve had enough, all it will take will be something small, something very very small, that will trigger a mass movement and all these people-you know them-will be slaughtered en masse, and then we shall reclaim what has been stolen, and reorganize our country and have a new beginning. As we say in Yoruba land “ëveryday is for the thief, but one day is for the owner.” Soon we will have silence-it will be in a couple of weeks and it will be the evening after the presidential results are announced. That will be the day we collectively exhale or the hours before their is total chaos and the country burns! It is now in the hands of the folks back home. We shall be watching.

You did not say what Obanikoro did. However, I know what Jagaban did. He road on Nadeco/June 12 to become Governor. Soon after he bought for himself a private jet, an airline, Oriental hotel, owned the tax consulting firm for LASG, excised half the land in Lagos, appointed relations to all sorts of positions… the list is endless. Real change is when Jimi Agbaje becomes Governor of Lagos State and Buhari becomes President of Nigeria. How about that?

A criminal like him will soon be brought to justice in America. He has an American passport and the govt there will soon nail him with his shady past. Its a matter of time and we will see who laughs last.

PDP seems to have forgotten that a new elections Is arround the corner. What benefit will the appointment of Musiliu Obanikoro bring to the ministry for which he had just been appointed minister? Unless the party PDP party were very sure their candidate is going to win the next presidential election. One thing that keeps puzzling my mind is that APC members were not reading meanings to his appointment, is a reward for the parts he took in the (successful ) fraudulent election of the Ekiti state governor (Ayodele Fayose). APC needs to watch out for more PDP related election frauds in the comming elections. A word is enough for the wise. I ‘m just saying.

They need him in the position of Defense Minister. He has helped win an election in that position and they’re counting on him to do it again.

@Bisi…I will be surprised if Jonathan does not win the Presidential election. This is not because he deserves it but because his track record is shocking to say the least. The latest in a string of his pathetic leadership is nominating Senator Musiliu Obanikoro for a Ministerial role and his former counterparts at the Senate, confirming him accordingly.

People like this don’t play fair, it’s not part of their mode of operation. It’s almost as if they have sold themselves to the devil.

What I can’t predict if it happens, is how fellow Nigerians will respond. The least I can do is continue to pray against this dark cloud hovering over our country.

Why do we as Nigerians continue to accept this way of life, why are you people okay with this way of life smdh
I am fed up of this country with bad , corrupt and compromised leaders …….. I will do what I can at the voting unit and on my knees in prayers ….God will certainly hear our cries ……..

You hate KORO but you love Tinubu,Atiku,Saraki, etc. These are chronic election riggers, opponent killers!! These are men with track record of either killing their strong opposition or rig against smaller opposition as Tinubu did to Koro, Dosumu, Funsho Williams etc

You all hate Koro but your man and your principal Buhari want to norminate Amethief,Saraki as a minister if he assume power?

Was Amechi not caught at Akure Airport with Stash of Dollars he was trying to ferry to Ekiti to RIG election???????????? and he was turned back

Was Adam not also turned backs with boxes of Dollars???? AND SENT BACK?????

So because Fayose won Ekiti therefore PDP rigged??????

If you live in a glass house and throw stones…………..

Did Tinubu not rig for Aregbesola and Amosun

If you hate Koro then you must also hate Tinubu,Atiku,APC,Amethief,Saraki in totality cos they all rig election.

You cant say you hate rat but cut its flesh with your teeth. (A dim eri oke mana ejim ezem ke ru umu nnem oke).

If you hate Koro then you should not be in APC!!!

    APC are master riggers!

I may not be a fan of Koro but certainly no APC member has a moral justification to condemn him.

Koro simply knows what APC know and so they hate him period!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It only hypocrite who turn a blind eyes on APC rouges and cry and wail over KORO.

I not a fan of Koro but Koro is better than most people jagaban will nominate as ministers God forbid if Buhari wins.
