Gunmen said to be Fulani, attacked and killed 30 people – mostly women and children – in Benue and Nasarawa states.

Punch reports that the assailants invaded Guma, Kwande, Buruku and Keana Local Government Areas of Benue and Nasarawa states.

In addition to the individuals that died, several others were injured.

An eyewitness told newsmen that “the gunmen stormed the communities while they were resting after the day’s work and started shooting sporadically at innocent and defenseless people of the area.”

Commissioner of Police, Hyacinth Dagala, confirmed the attack and stated that surveillance and security around the affected areas have been intensified.

It is after the attackers finished attacking the people that security would be intensified. Security my foot, when they are incapable of protecting the innocent lives. Shameless security. Just hope that God will use Buhari to save this nation from these attacks.

I can’t understand how and why a host community would be running and lamenting the attacks from stranger elements in their midst. Since the Nigerian govt cannot prosecute the so called Fulanis for illegal possession of firearms, it’s about time all communities on whose land these elements graze their herds, armed themselves; and should any provocation should arise, the rest would be history.

The problem here, I think, is that some highly connected people in this state have dipped their hands where they are not supposed to…like receiving things from these people who do not know the meaning of forgiveness. But God is alive and will surely vindicate u. Let us remember to always pray regarding this issue. He who calls on God in time of distress shall not be confounded.
