In a special edition of Pitti Immagine’s 88th show – “Constellation Africa” four design talents will participate in a runway showcase to take place on Thursday 18th June, 2015, in Florence, Italy. These talents are some of Africa’s brightest – Nigeria’s Adebayo Oke-Lawal of Orange Culture; Ivory Coast & UK designer Alexis Temomanin of Dent de Man; South Africa’s Laduma Ngxokolo of MaXhosa by Laduma and Angola’s Tekasala Ma’at Nzinga & Shunnoz Fiel of Projecto Mental.

This special edition is in conjunction with the ITC Ethical Fashion Initiative and will focus on fashion from Africa with the special event “Constellation Africa” promoting young and talented designers from the continent. The designers will showcase pieces from their Spring/Summer 2016 collections.

According to Simone Cipriani (Head and Founder, ITC Ethical Fashion Initiative) – “I believe that Pitti Uomo is the best platform to showcase these innovative designers from Africa, the continent which hosts the future of fashion and couture.” “The richness of materials and the beauty of their designs are truly unique. This is where our global society is going: interconnectedness. Global and local dimensions brought together through fashion.

The Ethical Fashion Initiative is a flagship programme of the International Trade Centre – a joint agency of the United Nations and the World Trade Organization.

The Initiative links the world’s top fashion talents to marginalized artisans enabling artisans connect with the global fashion chain. The Ethical Fashion Initiative also enables Africa’s rising generation of fashion talent to forge environmentally sound, sustainable and fulfilling creative collaborations with local artisans.

Congratulations to all the participants. Keep it locked on BellaNaija.com/Style for more fashion news.
