This is the second in a series of Intellectual Property Workshops held across Africa, after the initial conference in South Africa.

We are pleased to invite you to attend our upcoming workshop ‘The Dynamic Role of Intellectual Property Protection in Promoting Innovation and Economic Development in Emerging Markets scheduled to hold at the Four Points by Sheraton, Oniru Lagos on July 14th – 16th, 2015.

The workshop will consist of an intensive certified Training course on July 14th, ‘IP 101′, where attendees will learn from experts on panels including ‘What to Protect’, ‘How and Where to Protect it’ and ‘What your Protection Covers/Costs’.

It will be followed by a 2 day conference on July 15th & 16th which will connect leaders from key sectors of Government, ICT, Law, Pharmaceutical Industry, Creative industries amongst others. Topics include ‘Practical Examples of IP Supporting Innovation and Economic Development, and ‘Issues Relating to Poor IP Protection e.g. Loss of Revenue in Nollywood, Counterfeit drugs’, as well as ‘What Governments can do to stimulate Innovation and Entrepreneurship‘. These topics will be discussed in panels by business leaders, successful entrepreneurs, talented entrepreneurs , innovators, film makers and other creative artistes as well as top government officials and international speakers. The conference will be accompanied by a complimentary exhibition in our Innovation Hall, a venue to showcase African Innovators and provide unparalleled networking opportunities for them.

Several exciting and knowledgeable speakers have been lined up including Biyi Mabadeje (Former Honorable Commissioner of ICT, Lagos State), Professor Olufemi Bamiro (Former VC, University of Ibadan), and Joel Kopp (First Secretary, Embassy of the United States). Other Speakers include Dr. Marisella Ouma (Executive Director, Kenya Copyright Board), Dr Umar Bindir (DG, NOTAP), Eme Essien (Country Manager, IFC), Yetunde Sadiku (Executive Producer, Half of a Yellow Sun), Lancelot Imasuen (Award-winning Nollywood Film Director) and Uwa Ohiku (Partner, Jackson, Etti and Edu).

The workshop also hopes to draw attention to the current IP Bill that is passing through the National Assembly.
