“Love Yourself!” Watch Ghanaian Actress MaameYaa Boafo’s Inspiring Talk at TedXAccra

When the TV show, An African City  hit our screens, we were excited by the angle the creators of the show had chosen to tell the African story from. Even more interesting was the diverse range of talented and relatively unknown thespians cast in the show.  Ghanaian Maameyaa Boafo came to us riding brilliantly on the wings of Season 1 of An African City.

At the TedxAccra event last week, Maameya talks about her early dreams of becoming an actress, the long arduous journey towards realising her dreams, and the lessons she has learned thus far.

Here are some things important things she said:

Love yourself. Nurture yourself
Get a support system
Invest in yourself
Make the best of wherever you are
Nurture your relationships
Be confident with who you are

We hope you are as inspired as we are by Maameya!

Love Maameya. Very inspiring Ted talk.

Btw, I didn’t know it was an African, a Nigerian brother, that created Hopstop. If you live in NYC , it’s a great directional resource for traveling to places you’re not familiar with.

Big respect to all these smart ass Ted inspirational speakers oh but honestly without God fully being in all our equations, life would be very very hard for someone that has issues in terms of “loving yourself” if you are a Christian face Jesus if you be Muslim face Allah and if na one baba dey help you oh well… You know the drill.

nigeria, a country where they teach u to hate ur self if u don’t fit in.

Don’t let anybody make u feel like shit. love ur self cause u are unique. there is nothing wrong with you, instead they is something wrong with nigerians amd their mentality.
do not change yourself or ur behaviour for any murderf*cker. #bornthisway #loveyourselfthewayyouare
