President Muhammadu Buhari has turned down the federal government’s offer to procure five new armoured Mercedes Benz S-600 (V222) cars for his use, Punch reports.

The collective cost of the cars is reported to be N400 million.

According to the report:

A Presidency source told journalists on Thursday that Buhari got to know of the plan when the Permanent Secretary, State House, Nebolisa Emodi, was briefing him of his ministry’s activities on Wednesday.

Miffed by the revelation, the President was said to have told Emodi that the purchase was unnecessary.

Describing it as a waste of scarce resources, the source said Buhari told the permanent secretary that the cars he inherited from former President Goodluck Jonathan were good enough for him.

“I don’t need any new cars. The ones I am using now are just fine,” the source quoted the President as saying.

This is supposed to be a diversion from the loan/grant thing. We get it Mr Presido, you are frugal, but my eyes are still peeled in anticipation of your assets declaration.
Since you have compensated the APC governors that financed your campaign with their allocations, pls find something for Amaechi too so that he can pay Rivers State NYSC allowee that he is owing for three years now. In the meantime, Sir, pls do something, anything.

Its obvious these people don’t think at all, they are owing worker’s salary and what they can think of now is giving a president armored cars worth N400m…obviously its newly bought, who are they trying to impress sef, i dont get it, what’s the need for a N400m Car, aren’t there some that are cheaper???I believe there are still some people in GEJ’s administration that needs to be sent out, because this kind of decision looks like some of the decisions made in his time with Dieziani, Patience, Reuben Abati, Doyin Okupe and the likes…President Buhari, thank you for rejecting it oh, at least that still shows you feel the pain of the people…

DD, Is this supposed to be news? As at now, Who is FG who is Buhari? You Hv been managing the economy yourself. Only you one, Agric minister, petroleum minister, aviation minister, finance minister etc yet you keep complaining. I don’t know how this crap your handlers keep leaking, is meant to fix the floundering nation state.

You can only deceive a people for so long. #InTheFullnessOfTime the owner of the seat will come and take it.

Tell him o. Even if he has PhD. I don’t know how a lone old tired President can run the economy. The tradition world over is to put names/faces to those who manage the various ministries. This man is just a joke.

For real i ask the same question this morning who is federal govt. The money waste has linger over the years and the new administration its not interest in the waste or the indirect bribe to corrupt the new administration. so that should evenly stop and make good use of this resources. first thing first the bad eggs still remaining should be flush entirely from the system and create room for the sincere new administrators.

    Hmmmmm.

Last time I checked, there we no ministers and you are head of this administration, so who offered the cars to you and all from the ’empty treasury’.

Diversion tactics ( that 400 million has been swerved to settle a campaign sponsor). Gotta give it to APC, they can like to form intelligent thieves.

OK, but I don’t think this gesture is enough to save Nigeria in this dwindling oil prices /hash economic times.
Hire the right people to manage our economy in creative, most efficient ways.
Sometimes, it is not how much you have but how you manage the little that you have.
When are we expecting our ministers? The sooner the better. We need men and women of integrity to OWN those ministries especially finance.
