Independence Day Tragedy: Boko Haram Attacks Village in Adamawa, Kill 5

Boko Haram in Gombe

While many celebrate the 55th year of Nigeria’s independence, residents  of Kirchinga, in Adamawa state, are spending the day in mourning, due to a Boko Haram attack that occurred today.

At least 5 people died in the attacks, as the terrorists slit their throats Premium Times reports.

The village where the attack occurred is said to be the hometown of former acting governor of Adamawa state, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.

According to an eyewitness report:

The insurgents struck the village at about 12:30am on Thursday and started firing sporadic gunshots while razing down buildings, causing residents to flee into nearby bushes.

The insurgents slaughtered five trapped people, including three women and two men.

The insurgents had a field day for many hours as they operated unchallenged due to complete absence of security personnel in the area.

We want the government to deploy more security personnel for us because as Nigerians the government owes us a duty to protect us

The fact that our area share borders with Sambisa forest and Cameroon republic should have been enough reason why government must deploy security personnel to protect us. If the government does not take proactive measures to stem the ugly insurrection of insurgents into our domain, they will kill all of us.

I have said it and gotten tired of saying it, the Nigerian government is too nice!! has been since Obasanjo left, Buhari that I expected to have a bit of steel is afraid of the dictator tag, rubbish!!! Our leaders need to understand the number 1 purpose of a state. The state creates security and stability because it has the monopoly on violence and can annihilate with extreme violence and urgency anyone who is stupid enough to challenge its monopoly. It is this monopoly on violence that allows rule of law to exist, for laws must be enforced.

There is massive unemployment, solution; begin massive recruitment into the army and civil defence, give the herdsmen an ultimatum, crack down on the militants, infiltrate MASSOB and OPC, institute martial law over the whole North-East until a year goes by without a single terror attack but nope Buhari has to show “world leaders” that he’s a “reformed democrat”. I fully admit it, I hate whoever came up with that term, all the so called advanced democracies are built on foundations of blood, you think Bismarck, Polk, Stalin, the British Raj, The VOC gave two figs about being considered reformed democrats. SMH.

Yes!!! It’s that easy, recruit people into the army and kill everybody… Even the US with all its sophistication still suffers all sorts of domestic attacks. Sorry, but your solutions are quite simplistic and juvenile… now you don’t have GEJ to blame anymore, you’re speaking gibberish

You seem to be equating a high number of soldiers and civil defence corp members with killing, that is absurd, law enforcement ever rarely kill! The recommended number of soldiers especially with a lack of sophisticated equipment is 10% of your population, our current armed forces are around 7%, the recommended ratio for citizen to police is 5500 citizens per 1 police officer, Nigeria’s security apparatus is inadequate!

Your USA argument is something called false equivalence, the USA suffers attacks from random crazies, not organisations with a stated goal, care to compare Nigeria’s current weekly bombings with India, Indonesia, China, Russia?? we come out worse!

Perhaps you should also have recommended less juvenile suggestions to move the discussion forward.
