On Monday, the Nasarawa State House of Assembly was turned into a battle arena as members of the house were seen throwing tables at each other.

The “battle” ensued as a result of the Local Government Sole Administrators appointed by Governor Tanko Al-Makura. The governor, who appointed the sole administrators to man the affairs of the local government after the expiration of the tenure of the previous local government chairman, promised to conduct fresh elections for the local government councils.

This stand by the governor was not accepted by some of the lawmakers as they expected fresh elections to be conducted before the expiration of the tenure of the previous chairmen. Six members of the House alleged that the other eighteen lawmakers have received money to go back on their resolution to conduct elections for the leadership of the Local Government Councils.

According to Channelstv the allegation may have prompted the leader of the house to move for their suspension. A move that resulted in the exchange of harsh words and fighting by some of the honourable members of the house.
