Minister of Agriculture, Audu Ogbeh on Wednesday said that the Federal Government will in the next four months establish grazing reserves in the country that will help to bring an end to the Herdsmen/Farmers clashes.

Ogbeh said this while speaking on Wednesday at the sectoral debate aimed at exploring diversification of the economy, organised by the House of Representatives. He disclosed that nine state governments have already agreed to release 5,000 hectares of land for the reserves, and the project is already at an advanced stage.

He said that the reserves will be tilled with grass imported from Brazil which according to him, have been treated and will generate more yield.

“Grass is not grass; there are grasses and there are grasses. These grasses were taken from Nigeria and worked upon and they are better,” he said.

He disclosed that some companies are already in agreement with the government for the utilisation of some derivatives and by products from the reserves.
