Ace Comedian, Ayo Makun – AY  has come out to take a stand against trolls and bullies on social media.

He says:

The social media platform is like a mirror that reflects the image we want people to see. It is also a reflection of the image of what the people decides to see or take.

We don’t have a choice on whether we do social media or not…as long as you are in showbiz, there must be something to show before the business will come. The connection between you, your fans and prospective sponsor who would like to leverage on your brand equity must be kept intact. The day they don’t hear from you or see you, it is assumed that your career is dead.
No matter what we put out there, good or bad, we will always be living our lives for everyone else on social media. So permit me to welcome my dear colleagues to a world where we’re reminded that we’re all human and all equal, especially when they are not paying to watch you or buy your CDs. Welcome to the world where we enjoy all the praises and comments on a good post. But permit me to also welcome you to all to a veritable battleground where the fearless and Anonymous cyber kings and queens throws their verbal bullets to damage lives, self-esteem and self- worth.

As for me, I will continue to enjoy the positive side of social media, and learn from the negative (even when it sometimes hurts me as a human being). @AYComedian

Social media has helped alot of people including you Ay. You may have at least advertised your show through this means. Some people got married via social media and some even bought houses in banana island.

Well….Social Media has helped all and saundry,Entertainers,Business owners,Political parties, humanitarian work etc ,and humanity as a whole. We all unfortunately have to enjoy its good, with its bad and ugly.. Even in the real world not everyone will like you,not everyone will have something good to say about you,how much more online..How you decide to use social media as an individual is what matters, you can’t share your personal and things private to you always, and not expect to have different opinions(good and bad)…
Not everyone who has a comment different from what you expect to hear is a HATER. If you can take the praises, the love, admiration etc,you all should also be able to take whatever the ‘trolls’ say….At the end of the day,it is what it is sadly. As long as there’s an online world,no one is immune to trolls, bullies or negative comments/views…

Even JESUS who used his platform to promote the gospel, received negative comments,he had many who loved him and many who ‘Hated him and what he was about…How much more AY,you or I….If Jesus was on Social Media today,he would also have trolls and bullies.. The gospel of christ till now experiences all degrees of bullying and negativity….
AY and his colleagues have enriched their pockets with the help of SM,yes you all have the talent, but we all know talent alone doesn’t cut it….If Jesus Christ could be mocked, criticized, bullied, hated on,betrayed etc,who are we not to experience such.

As in eh @Read it!!!,these are people he referred to concerning the negative part. I don’t understand how people DO NOT READ AND COMPREHEND before commenting. He’s just talking about the POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE sides to social media and chooses to take the POSITIVE. People READ first ooooo before typing. Don’t just see the headline and reach for your pens, in this case keyboards and keypads. Na wah..

It is a big pity that Nigerians dont read before commenting. This a brilliant piece coming from a comedian. I have taken time out to follow Alibaba, AY and Bovi on instagram. You will know that they are not just comedians. This are people who went to school

Everything still boils down to individual, I have never come across Ramsey Nouah’s family online before, whatever you want the media to see is what we will see.
No one knows Tiwa and Teebillz was having issues until Teebillz decided to come was his dirty agbada on the street of shomolu. Social Media has come to stay at least Bellanaija is making money and winning awards even internationally.
