Lagos CourtA Yaba Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Thursday remanded a 13-year-old A. Adeniyi at Oregun Children’s Correctional Centre, over alleged defilement of a neighbour’s five-year-old daughter.

The Chief Magistrate, A.F. Adeeyo, who gave the order, directed the prosecution to forward the case file to the Office of the State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for advice.

Adeeyo also granted the accused a N400,000 bail with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case till July 7th for mention.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Sgt. Ibijoke Akinpelu, told the court that the accused committed the offence on May 30th at about 5 PM at No. 23, Fakorede St., Somolu, Lagos.

Akinpelu explained that the five-year-old girl’s mother, who was busy with her younger son, asked a neighbour to help watch the minor while she was playing outside.

According to her, the teenager, who lives in the same compound, carried her into his parents’ one-room apartment where he was caught defiling the minor.

The offence, Akinpelu noted, contravened Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
