Basketmouth Robbery AttackSo sad…

Bovi posted on his Instagram Page this morning that Comedian, Basketmouth and his family were robbed at gun point at his residence in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos.

While the robbers carted away with valuables, no one was hurt during the 2-hour operation.

Bovi said:

Basketmouth was robbed this morning in his home in Lekki Phase 1 between the hours of 2AM and 4AM, 7th of September 2016. He and his family were held at gun point while the sad episode lasted. Nobody was hurt. Valuables were taken including the cctv device. A report has been made at the police station. He can’t be reached at the moment but will be back on as soon as possible.

Keep bragging on social media. Continue talking about how God has done it for you and no one else. You shall see. Foolish people.

Yeah, what exactly did they brag about on social media? That he met dangote or what? If it’s by bragging, they didn’t see our female actresses-without-movies to rob, it’s basketmouth and his wife. Well, your name [email protected] You sound hurt and bitter. Are they our politicians who are making things hard for us Nigerians? Abi is this Uncle Freeze?

Anyway, victim blaming seems a national hobby

The wife posted and deleted a photo of a new house they just bought, it also had a caption in the line of ” in this recession some are still getting blessed bla bla bla”

He has a point though. People are hungry, celebs need to know that social media makes the world a really small place and since they don’t live in the moon, where u live is a very public knowledge you are not so hard to find after all. They should be careful lease

Why is everyone so angry these days? you and the people liking your comments need to be questioned by the police as armed robbery suspects.

If I met an industry giant like 10 years ago and he told me I would never amount to anything and then I am here today with a NGN200m house, you say I should keep quiet about it….your name is sorry!

I will flaunt it very well! If you are pained, mix codeine, weed, eye drop, refnol and just a drop of gamalin 20 and gulp it down before you sleep at night!

It’s like saying because a girl is sexy and endowed, she should only wear jalamia so that she won’t get raped! What nonsense!

This will only get worse with the declining economic situation. This is why the elite cannot afford to keep mum while the masses suffer untold hardship. It ALWAYS comes back to affect you. Sorry your family had to be so traumatized. Use your mic to preach to the government about rapidly declining fortunes amon the poor and the need to improve lives ASAP.

Thank God no life was lost. Now, I concur with what Madman said. The rest of you celebs should keep flaunting your acquisitions on social Media. your own turn is doing warm up. Especially in these hard times when people are hanging themselves because they can’t see a way out. Well guess what? some can see a way out in that strategically placed Gucci Man-bag or Dior handbag sitting on the passenger’s side of your ride/top shelf of your shoe closet..

Back to sender, starting with you. You think your gateman or cleaner doesn’t see your Coach or Asos bag as a way out? Or your relatives in the village. What kind of cognitive sense and empathy level are we operating at in Nigeria. People insult LIB and SDK commenters but I don’t see the difference, just some people here (getting much fewer) who reason. Any comment section here concerning gender roles, relationship, celebrities breathing, Toke makinwa or any rich man’s child produces serious fire breathing dragons

You, my love, are an extremely idiotic individual and way lower on the scale of human intelligence than people that visit those blogs you mentioned. I will not condescended to wish you the sort of scenario that is currently in my mind right now because you and your kith and kin will not survive it. Or anyone that hears the story afterward. I’ll just say this – Shut up and stop flaunting your cheap, “I -am-trying- to-keep-up” Asos and Coach knock offs up and down social media (no one cares ,love, and people with a bit more sense and class will know that Asos and coach are not really brands you should be “flaunting” – they are the preserve of pre -pubescent schoolgirls and boys. Receive sense and understand that now, more than ever, is a time for sobriety and think of ways you can add value to yourself, your family and the community in which you live. Although in your case, i suspect just a little bit more self education and awareness – or going to hug the nearest transformer (please feel free to pick whichever is easier to do and more cost effective) will do all of humanity a huge favour. Oh and save whatever responses you may have to this for your unfortunate parents.

@Hian, there is no difference whatsoever between the attitudes of “commenters” on LIB and SDK and on BN. The same bile in better language.

You’re actually a confirmed fool. Sick lunatic for that matter. What has your gibberish and people living abroad got to do with people getting robbed? And to think you stupidly put the laughing emoticon? They’re talking about a family being robbed and you’re talking about people being cleaners abroad. The correlation? It’s sick losers like you who are frustrated with your sorry lives that get overjoyed when bad things happen to good people that are making it; those are the losers who liked your dumb comment. I used to live in Houston and they robb there like crazy; just like anywhere else. By the way, I’m not sure why most people in diaspora have anxiety and depression when people back home are making it and doing well, but get very excited when bad things happen to them- that shows how miserable your life is. Someone got robbed and this is the nonsense you could send? Cretin. I hope your comment has put more money in your account and paid all your bills and loans.

That being said, sorry to the Okpocha’s. Thankful to God no one got hurt. May God guide us.

oh wow! Thank God they are all okay and no one was hurt. Sending him and his family best wishes.
As for all of you talking about “keep bragging on social media etc”, are you human at all? how can you lack empathy so much? Armed robbery has been going on since time immemorial, even before the advent of social media, it is an ordeal you pray even your enemy never goes through. Please lets really examine ourselves, lack of empathy damages society.

    • Xoxo

      September 7, 2016 at 4:27 pm

This your comment doesn’t make any sense. Can you tell a rich man to act poor because the people in his society are poor? Please the recession is not an excuse for a wicked heart to portray it’s wickedness, enough with the whole don’t flaunt this or that on social media. Other people who are constantly robbed do you think they flaunt their wealth on Instagram? Sometimes people are just victims of circumstance. The most important thing is no one got hurt. Thank God for that. Let anyone that wants to flaunt their wealth flaunt it. God is the giver of wealth, if he thinks the flaunting has gotten to the extent where the wealth should be taken away to restore sense into the individual he will do that. Some humans will always be rich while some will be poor, that’s life for you.

Why are we always angry with the truth? There is enough data to cause concern showing that widening gaps in income (declining fortunes among the poor and increasing fortunes among the rich) is positively correlated with violent crime. When the economy is clearly crushing many, the data suggests it might not be a good time to show your prized possessions to the world. People in extreme dire straits are able to Find sufficient reason within themselves to commit crimes in the name of survival, and some may argue they are justified if they steal just enough to feed and live for another day. It’s called survival instinct. What madman’s comment infers is real. It does not mean those of us who prefer to read and draw inferences from the literature on social and economic deteroration and disadvantage are planning to commit crimes. We should be urging our government to show intelligent desperate measures to stop this derailing train called Nigeria. You don’t want the kind of armed robbers in my village who actually look forward to exchanging fire with police operating in lekki and ikoyi.

My special advice to d arm robbers(bcos I know arm robbers are not spirit but human being like u and I ) wen next u want to rob plz try as much as possible to select pple u go to their houses, e.g those pple DAT put us in dis hardship conditions and mk sure u triple ur swag bcos those men HV high security guards. but if u are caught no talk say na me send u oooo and if u die na hell fire oooh. Just leave pple like basket mouth and those DAT work hard(not those that steal hard). God have mercy on me amen..#sign of d cross#??

No where is safe in Nigeria. Stop fooling yourselves. I have friends who live in Ikoyi and were robbed and went through a very traumatic experience and I have heard of numerous armed robber attacks in Lekki. Its not the first and unfortunately will not be last. People I know got fed up with incessant attacks and packed their bags and returned abroad. The children were traumatised to the bone and began to hate Nigeria. Nigeria is not safe period! Even the police are now attacking people. Wake up people, its the beginning of anarchy in that country.

    • Ready

      September 8, 2016 at 2:20 pm

“Even the police are now attacking people.” Can’t the same be said for the US, UK, Syria, Kenya, Russia, and hundreds of other countries? Bottomline, nowhere is safe.

    • Shandi

      September 10, 2016 at 11:08 pm

Watchman, no where is safe! “Abroad” isn’t safe too. Chill. “They packed and returned abroad”. I live in Canada and I’ve heard of people that were robbed and attacked in London, Houston, Toronto, Maryland, even LA so what’s your point? I’m not even Nigerian, I’m originally from Cameroon but I’ve noticed some Nigerians are so quick to say nowhere in Nigeria is safe. Nowhere in the world is safe sweetie, wherever you and your friends back your bags to; nowhere in the world is safe. It’s only God guiding us.

    • Belle

      September 10, 2016 at 11:12 pm

Nowhere is safe, not in Nigeria, the U.K., the USA, Canada or the Netherlands. Not even Banana Island, Lekki 1, 2, 3, 4, Oniru, Chelsea, Bayview, etc? It’s just God saving us.

This is very sad, I just can’t imagine what was going through the mind of his family as they were robbed! They must have been thinking ‘will they kill us after they rob us?’ I really thank God they were left unharmed! All glory to God Almighty!

Just like Madman said please people have to be careful what they post on social media! The economy is really deteriorating and getting very bad so we need to be very cautious what you post on your social media profiles! If God has blessed you with 200 million naira house tell people it was a house you had been building for a long time and you just managed to move inside! Don’t go and start flaunting to everyone that we have moved to a 200 million naira house or I just bought a 20 million naira car. You are only inviting trouble for yourself especially in this harsh economic times. If the economy was good then the story will be different. May God help us all during this economic hardship!
