The event was attended by former heads of state and heads of government, members of the diplomatic corps, business, political, and traditional leaders, serving and former state governors, cabinet members, senior government officials, senior media executives, civil society representatives, leaders in academia, and more.

At the event, the U.S. Consulate General Lagos offered multiple programs including panel discussions by leading American and Nigerian political analysts, a mock election, movie viewings, karaoke, social media sessions, and live updates from around the world.

Held at InterContinental Hotel, there were also large screens to display the election results as they trickle in.

Really? I think it is time Nigerians begin to be proud of what we have and charge our leaders to build our country just like what we see in the west and where everybody is running to do stuff.I don’t know how many of the white guys like so much of what we do what we are like the way we revered their stuff.

People are the same all over the world. Politicians are the same everywhere, just because a Democrat is in power, they used their consulates to campaign for Hilary, whereas in our Obodo Naija, the government on the seat will not allow their oppositions to campaign on NTA. You would think it is only in Africa that we’re serving papa and son together and the same US that most countries are looking up to had served papa and son as well (white people can never do wrong). America would have even served husband and wife if Hilary had won the election (na for Chelsea to come back in the future).

What are you on about? Just because the Okoyes took pictures with cutouts of Obama and Hillary and ignored the cutout of Trump, you came to the conclusion that they “used their consulates to campaign for Hilary”

All these people wondering why they attended. As someone who is in the diplomatic world it is very normal for Embassies and High Commissions to invite certain citizens of it’s host countries to their events be it elections, Queens birthday, national holiday, independence day celebrations etc usually politicians, celebrities, certain top business people, influential people in society etc sometimes even university students and high school kids get invited sort of as a learning experience.
