Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi

The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi, has called on monarchs to shun idol worship and keep away idols from their palaces.

He made this known in a telephone interview with PUNCH in Osogbo.

“Our palaces must be clean and devoid of any idol. There is authority in the mouth of any monarch who is clean and who shuns idol worshiping. Our palaces must be devoid of idols.

I removed the ‘Ogun Odela’ in front of my palace and asked them to take it to Ogundigba (far from the palace) because of this. This happened about two weeks ago.

Oba must not kneel down before anybody to pray. This is a message or a warning to all the kings and let me tell them that their palaces are the habitation of God on earth. God was dwelling with us before churches and mosques were built,” he said.

Oba Akanbi added that God hates idolatry, and that God would not help any town whose king worshiped other gods.

He called on kings to serve their people and not wait for their people to bringtributes to them.

Citing Oduduwa as an example, the monarch called on kings to love and serve their people and not wait for them to bring tributes to the palace.

He said that Oduduwa became the greatest king in Yorubaland because od service and love for his people.

If you know you cannot stick to the traditions of your people then you should not be the Oba. What nonsense is this? Please stop trying to impose your Christian imported ideas on a traditional institution. You enjoy the prestige and role associated with your position as a traditional royalty but at the same time you want to abolish what your people did for centuries?

Sultana well it doesn’t make much of a difference since Islam is imported from Arabs as well and not indigenous to our culture. if people want to embrace foreign cultures that’s cool but they shouldn’t occupy traditional royal positions and try to throw away what our ancestors did for decades. I don’t see Indians throwing away what their ancestors did or Native Americans. Seems like only Africans love everything foreign to the point of disrespecting the faith of our fathers.

Issues like if he was imprisoned in the U.S.A., Issues like if he used different names to travel abroad.lssues of fraudulent .misrepresentation and let the truth prevail.
