Zahra Buhari & Ahmed Indimi’s Marriage Reportedly Postponed following ‘Altercation’ over Delivery of Gifts worth N47m

Zahra Buhari & Ahmed Indimi

Zahra Buhari & Ahmed Indimi

The wedding ceremony of Zahra, the 21-year-old daughter of President Muhammadu Buhari, earlier scheduled for this weekend has been postponed.

According to Dailytrust the postponement was as a result of President Buhari’s insistence on a low-key wedding as he is not comfortable with the attention the media is giving to his daughter’s wedding.

A couple of days ago, there were reports that the family of the groom, Ahmed Indimi presented about 30 LV bags, worth about £120, 000 (N47,144,502) to Zahra and were said to have been delivered in 30 exotic cars.

However, findings by THISDAY, has revealed that the wedding was postponed following the physical altercation that trailed the delivery the dowry boxes.

According to THISDAY:

Trouble started on November 18, during the traditional introduction ceremony, when the sister of the groom, Yataka Indimi, insisted on taking her mobile phone into the Presidential Villa, Abuja, contrary to security protocol.

THISDAY gathered that Yataka wanted to record all the proceedings, including the delivery of the boxes made by the French luxury brand, Louis Vuitton, with her mobile phone, despite the fact it was against standard security protocol in the villa.

In line with the Hausa/Fulani tradition, the boxes, according to sources, contained cash, jewelry, clothes, bags, shoes and other gifts valued at several millions of naira for Zahra and the first family.

However, a struggle ensued between Yataka and the security officials who tried to compel her to comply with protocol, only for her to resist. The incident attracted the attention of other dignitaries who tried to stop the scuffle.

According to a reliable family source, the argument degenerated to a scuffle, compelling the wife of the Nasarawa State governor, Mrs. Tanko Almakura, to step in to stop the altercation from getting out of hand and may have injured her arm in the process.

“As of today, we learnt that the Nasarawa first lady is still nursing her wounds and is being treated for a dislocation,” the source said.

THISDAY learnt that the incident was so embarrassing that it incurred the wrath of the president over the behaviour of the Indimis.

Indeed, Buhari was reported to have threatened to return the boxes and stop the marriage ceremony that had been scheduled to climax on Sunday, December 4.

“We learnt that the president who was displeased with the development and behaviour exhibited by the Indimi family, vowed to return the boxes and not approve of the marriage.

“The president was also of the view that the gifts were too expensive and incompatible with his modest lifestyle and has asked the Indimis to take the boxes back.

“I think we must give it to the president for taking this stand, and cementing his reputation for not tolerating indiscipline,” a source close to the presidency said.

However, elders close to the Buhari and Indimi families are at the moment trying to prevail on the president not to return the boxes, as he would be bucking tradition.

They are also working on resolving the tension that has arisen since the altercation, so that the wedding could go ahead as planned, if not this weekend, then as soon as possible.

Further findings revealed that while Buhari might not be favourably disposed to the idea of marrying out his daughter to a wealthy suitor, the wife of the president and her daughters, who are more liberal, are rooting for the marriage.

Why wont Aisha Buhari root for the marriage (or sale of her daughter)? That is how she gets to carry those $30k handbags and Lawd-help-me-with-the-price shawls. But the Indimis sha. Una go wedding come enter physical fight with Security men and na babe dey fight security men. Well Aisha, get your training gloves ready as well. How do you plan to establish a sanctuary matrimonial home when they can barge through and ruffle security guys at Aso Rock? Na im be say your house door go be H495 beltway for DC. With you na black eye and lost teeth dem go dash you. You need to go and learn Taekwondo and Karate osiso osiso. Time go reach when you no go wan carry LV or Birkin bag sef. You go wan just have peace of mind. Marriage is harro according to calabar man. Please don’t be deceived. Not too late to pull out or establish rules. Love the Father in this regard. He cannot refund all the gifts should he need his daughter returned intact or treated right. Most importantly, he wants her to be treated like a gem, not a prized horse meant to obey the master. Gals, be kiaful.

@Fleur, there is not much to choose, not much if anything different between the Indimis and the family they are marrying into, they are both equally “‘uncouth”‘ and both lack evidence of good breeding, intelligence, visionary thinking, or thought elevated above gutter level, street-fighting, parochial, intensely personal, intensely selfish, and ethno-religious interests.

The same way the Indimis are on social media/Twitter is the same way Aisha and Zahra are; in fact, much worse. Ahmed Indimi the groom, for no reason, posted a photo of a print-out of his bank balance, which was almost a $100m, about $99.9m (in 2013 or thereabouts); Rahma and her sister’s exploits and allegations this year in recent times against the Babangidas, especially her ex-husband, Mohammed, whether true or not, cannot be said to show wisdom and class; also, her most recent tasteless crowing of victory as if Zahra was a prize object fought over and acquired revealed rather a lot not only about her mentality, the mentality of her family but also of the mentality, objectives, real reasons and practices of the culture and ethnicity/region she comes from when they engage in (such) marriage. Forget love. Either true or untrue. Yar’Adua’s only daughter that he was not able to marry off before he died (he had been marrying them off quickly to one governor after another during his first term as if that was the four-point agenda, he has four daughters, he went into office with) and who had governors, a billionaire businessman, an oil tycoon as well i.e. the Ramaniyya oil boss all after her, is still unmarried today. Her sister, who was married as a fourth wife to the then Kebbi state governor, Dakingari, and elevated to the post of First Lady of the state, immediately YarÁdua died, was relegated and replaced out of the position and almost divorced except that her husband who had at first said yes, to her demand for divorce, had to soft-pedal on it when she included the refund of the N400m or N500m she gave/lent him for his second term campaign. Various media reports had it that the bride and groom met just a month before the marriage proposal and intending groom’s meeting with Buhari at Aso Villa last week or so in November. Media reports have also had it for quite a while that the Indimi’s Oriental Energy oil company is in financial trouble.

On being uncouth and social media antics that reveal their true characters: this is the same Zahra Buhari who, in an angry spat with another user telling her to tell her father to stop killing innocent people, Christians, etc, on Facebook, notoriously said::

That was in 2016. In 2015, this same Zahra Buhari, went on Twitter describing President Yahya Jammeh of the Gambia as a “”Fucking Child Fucker””. This was after the Gambian president reportedly declared that that homosexuals caught in the Gambia will have their throats slit. Zahra took to Twitter to respond to President Jammeh’s declaration. Whatever the veracity or otherwise of her accusation/insult, such gutter language is unbecoming of ANY lady, ANY woman, ANY gilr, not to speak of the daughter of a president. Following the backlash, she attempted some damage control by saying she was actually calling gay people ‘child fuckers’ and ‘those who legalize homosexuality’.Nigerians and the rest of the world are supposed to be gullible enough to believe (in spite of her semi-literate spelling and grammatical errors as seen in her Facebook post) that someone who schooled in the UK does not know the difference between paedophilia and homosexuality. The screenshot can be seen in the link shown:

What about her mother, Aisha’s reaction to Gov. Fayose’s consistent heckling? She, a First Lady/wife of the president, took to Twitter in an outburst that showed no pedigree, no dignity, no class and no intelligence, and, she ended up shooting herself, or, rather, her husband, in the foot. She called Gov. Fayose “”AN UNCHAINED MAD DOG..”” Then, she committed the greatest blunder and scored an own goal by going on to say: “”IF BUHARI IS 73 YEARS OLD, I AISHA AM 45 YEARS OLD, I HAVE MORE THAN ENOUGH ENERGY TO FACE YOU.”” Thus, Aisha Buhari, unintelligently, without thinking things through, unwittingly, exposed her husband’s nakedness again (as she did recently on BBC Hausa) in public, by inadvertently, admitting that he is old and lacks “”the energy”” to get things done.

The evidence abounds that Indimi does not know how to control his daughters/children and cannot control their utterances; the maxim “‘Discretion is the better part of valour”” seems completely unheard of by them, and would surely look incongruous on any family crest/heraldry of theirs were they to have any. The very same can be said of Mohammadu Buhair concerning his wife, most especially, and her/their daughters.

      December 1, 2016 at 11:57 pm

@enny, The gifts must be publicised because Aisha Buhari, in particular, and her daughters, need for people, especially all her benefactoprs (e.g. the Abachas) and mockers over the years (she came from a family of some (political and traditional) pedigree and married a peasant (Buhari has no political, royal, traditional, moneyed, etc no pedigree or background), who after participating in numerous coups bringing others to rulership, eventually participated in a coup where he was the numero uno, only to be unceremoniously booted out (the reason, why Dasuki, who was only obeying IBB’s orders, is the only northerner and muslim, and from the core North, who is being detained by EFCC for more than 2 days, and is receiving the level of harassment and relentless, vindictive punishment he is. It is not about “”kwarupshun””, it is about revenge and vendetta)., to know that she, too, has ‘arrived’.

Abacha rehabilitated Buhari (the Buharis) with the post of Executive Chairman of PTF, and when Obasanjo came into power and scrapped PTF, Buhari was unemployed again. Even whilst Switzerland had been returning “”Abacha loot”” to Nigeria and the FG was busy fighting the Abacha family in courts abroad as the family was going to court and fighting tooth and nail to stall, block by every legal means and tactic possible the return of the monies to Nigeria, and all these were well publicised in various news media, Buhari was busy declaring loudly for all to hear at Abacha’s 10 year memorial that Abacha never stole from Nigeira, and that all these stories and allegations of looting and stealing against Abacha are just false accusations, and were not based in fact and lacked evidence..

Aisha has an unholy thirst and quest for MONEY and power and whilst having enjoyed the largesse of her/their benefactors in the hard times, also felt and feels a great need/burden to prove a point to them and the world at large.

Look ehn, as in Aisha must be cursing (as in shekpe) Buhari silently. The Aisha we know is greedy and must belong by any means possible. Aisha is cantankerous and will have her way. There are tales trailing the groom. The groom’s family lacks intuition. in this Buhari times even, if you must display ostentation, why not take only a few boxes and present the rest to the bride to be in her matrimonial home? Why all the show off in this recession?

All for show! A beg let the girl marry and collect her gifts biko. Na today? Is she the first of his daughters to marry? If not, how many returned gifts were recorded then?

Madam Buhari’s wardrobe has already told us that the president is forming lack -or is it poverty?-and prudence, including deceiving his friends to pay for his nomination(?) form.
There is nothing wrong in celebrating your wedding at high throttle, expense-wise. Especially if your ego/kudi/owo is legit.. If it is not legit, what business do you have marrying into such money if you are a decent soul?

    • Issa.

      December 2, 2016 at 3:14 am

Buhari has no problem with the extent and expense of the gifts and all the money, it is the publication of them that he disagrees with and which gives him concern because it does not fit with his carefully cultivated image and propaganda of his PR machine. If it wasn’t so pathetic, it would be laughable the comments by some on this page who believe the propaganda even when hard evidence abounds before them. A man who had two state governors as his highest campaign financiers and bankrollers, Amaechi and Fashola, knowing very well they were getting the money from state coffers He rewarded them with ministerial positions where, of course, they will do everything to recoup their investment and much more. What about himself?

Buhari has never been able to account to Nigerians what he did with the N25 billion missing in PTF of which he was the chairman.
President Shagari incurred Buhari’s wrath when he decided to investigate the US$2.8 billion that disappeared from NNPC account and traced to the Midland Bank, London.
The Justice Ayo Irikefe judicial panel was set-up to trace the $2.8billion .
Secondly, a Senate committee was also set up to trace the $2.8billion headed by the late elder Saraki.
The findings of the Senate committee were reported live on NTA by Vera Ifudu.
Buhari, in a coup, overthrew the Shagari government, to burn and shred the evidence.
      Buhari got Vera Ifudu sacked.
Vera Ifudu and the NTA went to court.
Vera Ifudu won her case, got reinstated and was paid compensation.
Anyone who believes that any so-called displeasure on Buhari’s part is due to humility, etc seriously needs to start retraining their brains and applying themselves to be students of history and also, learn how to work with facts, past, and present.

Zahra, it is not your fault you are pretty, not your fault your papa is president and simply not your fault Louis Vuitton bags were delivered in 30 exotic cars by the Indimis they have the money to spend so let them spend it but abeg eeh tell your papa that let him do something Nigerians are suffering we don’t really know what kind of policies he is pursuing that is making life very difficult in Nigeria, and i think going forward he need to relax some his policies that is hurting us.The altercation between Yataka and the security officials were so unnecessary,if standard security procedures in villa entails that all visitors should submit their mobile phones why won’t you just obey?I like the president modest lifestyle but is that modesty in the life of some members of his household?
This recession is not getting to some people in Nigeria,Imagine the kind of money being spent by the idimis i am pretty sure that even if the country enters into great depression some will not feel it.Abeg mr president iam still saying that you should try to come up with strategies that will help to bring down the prices of staple food in Nigeria,Nigerians are suffering.

But that is the problem. Yataka or Yakata sees herself as above rules, including Zahra’s father’s rules. That is a very very bad sign. If she is unable to respect his wishes at such an event and per his age and who he is, then she will roll over and through Zahra in seconds. You can tell the future from people’s first actions. As I said, Zahra, its time for Brazilian judo if this man enter ya eye well well. Otherwise, na Yataka go be soup taster. Na she go decide whether your soup dey worthy of im brother mouth. To some people, having money makes them loose sense of reasoning. I’m embarrassed for the Indimi’s, they never learn. In this recession.
Instead of Nigerian youths to find a way to take hold of your future from the hands of the greedy and selfish generation that has held it bound for decades, they keep celebrating their children.

This message is relevant here no matter what you think. These so called billionaires got rich by making nepotistic policies that restricted the growth of a free market in every sector in Nigeria for decades.

This so called recession is just a way of taking back the small wealth that GEJ’s ‘corrupt’ government allowed to trickle into the south. By the time they are done with Nigerians, we won’t know what hit us.

By the way, enjoy drooling at the over the top weddings of the children of your slave masters.

God bless you my dear for telling these blind and foolish people the truth. Keep being distracted by these sorts of “yeye” news. Instead of rising up and taking your destiny in your hands, you all are here clapping for your slave master. Stupid mofo’s!

For those saying they are rich and are not there for money listen well; THE BIGGEST GOLD DIGGERS ARE THE RICH ONES. The nouveau riches the ones that think they are aristos and the aristos. There are a few exceptional ones. But this right here is the truth.

PS-I think the indimis are tacky AF. I am happy the Buharis showed some shame whether fake or true. It shows their child is not for sale. Even though this is standard behaviour in the North. If you want to understand why these guys are impoverished check their culture and mindset. This is basic shit in the north only indimis are good at showing it off, steal or fet prvileged to money and spend on stupid things, no sense, no intelligence. Poor AF in the mind creatures . What is saddest is how they are worshipped.

So we know the girl is 21. Why wasn’t the boy’s age adressed? The idea that only women’s ages should be divulged is ridiculous.

@Lisa, thanks a lot for that very polite update (didn’t sound like an average Bellanigerian?). So you mean zahra had money to have built two orphanages (Topic for another day anyways) and she probably sustains their upkeep? I went to the market last Saturday and saw children of 5-8 years of age from an orphanage with their guardians begging for food and money. Therefore I used OPM as an example because his works are sustainable and evident for anyone that cares to see. History must tell if the so called rich begins to makeselfless impact especially around the northern part of Nigeria where the richest in our country are from but the reverse is the case. Of course it’s obvious what their selfish priorities have been which goes a long way to tell on Nigeria as a whole. And to think they are not wise enough to be intimidating their poor neighbours and the Nigeria citizens who are doing all they could including committing suicide to tackle the present economic turmoil with the unnecessary display of their wealth calls for attention because if they continue like this Nigerians will fight them one day out of the on going frustration. Buhari may be a hypocrite but he is ashamed enough to tell the impact of the squander on his family and on the image of Nigeria at large. Didn’t Aisha join a woman to fry Akara by a road side during Buharis campaign, the same Aisha is the person that have been wearing very expensive designer bags and jacket, obviously she must have forgotten her “humble” amidst the suffering Nigerians are going through especially those at the Northern Nigeria . Well time will eventually tell on the real personality of Zahra, as this is only a test.

@ suga, I’ve been on BellaNaija for over 4 years now, pardon me if I don’t sound generic. Lol.
Before you compare the sustainability of Zahra’s model to another, please scrutinise both closely. Let’s not tear her down unnecessarily.
Like I said, I only know her because I volunteered with an NGO which she works with and I’ve seen how much work she puts in it. She is 21, but for her age – I was impressed – my 3 cents.

    Rich people problems…
But seriously, I wonder what the rest of the world thinks when they hear news from Nigeria- in a country where many people cannot afford the most basic standard of living, designer bags are being transported; each with its own personal luxury car…

What do they want? Renewed oil prospecting license. Zahra, get the license in your name or else you are fried.

The girl is just a 21 year old child. Gone are the days when girls, especially the ones from rich homes, are mature for marriage at 21. What does she know abut life to be getting married. She should work for a while, earn a living and gain a little independence.

LMBAO. Yea….because that’s why the wife and daughters approve of the match to a wealthy suitor. They’re ‘liberal’.

Perhaps, Ahmed has been sponsoring Zara and her mum if indeed the National Treasury hasn’t been funding their designer taste in fashion items. The thing for me is why did he not marry her when her dad was not president? That’s when the relationship would have been believable. I’m tired of rich/opportuned/famous girls being shortsighted and later on creating more stories for gossip blogs.

He couldn’t marry her before her dad became president because, she was very young and needed to finish her first degree.

21 is still young. She could have married at 18 and that would have been okay given her cultural orientation. Other females have also earned their degrees while married.

To me Aisha Buhari is Naija’s very own Kris Jenner and Zara is her Kim. Once Zara’s pictures hit the internet i became suspicious. She became an instant hit, and they are capitalized and are capitalizing on the publicity she got because with it comes opportunities coupled with being the president’s daughter.or, I was just waiting to see because as far as i am concerned this is only the beginning. Aisha is being very calculative and scheming her way to bigger things for her child. Besides hasn’t she been called to serve yet? Or what would be the explanation for that? It was predictable that she would get married soon, the questions was to which Gov or rich man’s son cos it was definitely going to be a somebody. With the Indimi’s i just don’t get it. Take their money away and there would be nothing left. Mohammed’s ex wife needs to chill with the gram as it is obvious her fingers are keyboard/pad happy. The more she posts the more she and her story loose credibility as never employs tact then engages in #postanddelete implying no liver last last. In all of this my anger is towards the hypocrisy of Nigeria and its institutions be it governmental or not with regards to Zara. Opportunities other’s deserve will be given to her and tomorrow she will be acclaimed or given an award that her position as a first daughter earned and nothing more. She will be celebrated by virtue of privilege while the system continues to strangle and suffocate hardworking youth. I never understood how or why Aisha took two of her daughter’s were at the UN General Assembly as delegates? If they needed a representative from the younger generation couldn’t they pick from millions of youths out there? And if indeed we are stupid enough to believe their story that it wasn’t funded by the Government did they or did they not fly on the presidential air craft with the President? Wherever Aisha claims she’s getting funds from are they aware that her children are part and parcel of expenditure? As for Buhari, it is past time for a family meeting.

Maturity counts most on weddings. When one is still in a bloom of youth, however, it requires extra-ordinary care. It is like an egg…. so fragile and can easily break! Prayer should be your ultimate! Cheers
