Gov. Ganduje of Kano Urges Wealthy Individuals to Marry more than One Wife to Reduce the Number of Unmarried Women in the Society

Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State

Kano State Government said on Sunday that it will henceforth regulate marriages ‎in order to sanitise the institution in the state.

Governor Abdullahi Ganduje‎ who said this during the mass wedding of 1,520 widows, divorcees and spinsters at the Kano Central Mosque, also called on wealthy people to marry more than one wife in order to reduce the number of unmarried women in the society.‎

He said that the state government and Islamic scholars will come up with a document which would be presented to the State Assembly.

“We are determined in Kano State to come up with laws that will govern marriage and laws that will govern family lives,’’ he said.‎

Ganduje said that the mass wedding was aimed at combating rising rates of divorce, births out of wedlock and the number of impoverished widows and divorcees in the state. ‎

He also decried the high rate of divorce and domestic violence in the society.

“A situation where you have domestic violence where women are beaten, sometimes beaten to death: This cannot continue,’’ he said.

The governor said that the state government would establish Hisbah Academy in order to teach people the doctrine of Hisbah and also learn how to guide ‎humanity in knowledge of reasoning.

Earlier, the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, ‎also decried the high rate of divorce in the society.

“The high rate of divorce is a worrisome situation resulting in adultery, prostitution and the births of children out of wedlock, and has become dangerous to society,’’ he said.

‎The Emir said that Kano Emirate Council together with Islamic scholars and the state government would come up with laws that would make divorce more difficult in the state.

‎Sanusi also congratulated the newly married couples and urged them to be patient and tolerate one another.

He he he. Very soon all the children will be malnourished from lack of functional governance and the mortality rate will increase. At a point, there will be nobody to marry together. Then the law will become obsolete. Or in another scenario, the level of malnourishment will be just enough to not cause death but will drive infertility rates through the roof. Then there will also be no need to marry and the law will become obsolete. Nigeria is in trouble.

Hahaha..hehehe…hohoho. How else can I laugh o ? If there are more men than women, can we also marry more than one husband? The answer to this question will determine my next response.

Does that solve the problem or it compounds it?

Oga/Madam don’t vex, mbok. My point is, men tend to make decisions for women that if tables were turned they’d never agree to for themselves. Gorrit?!

You guys can see the mentality of the Idiots we voted into office to lead us. He’s not telling them to create jobs and get people off the street. Kano State is one of the worst state in Nigeria irrespective of its vast land mass. Visit Kano and know what poverty is.

You see why we cannot move forward as a nation with these brainless people in office

Do you know what would be better? Educating and empowering women so they have better options. Then they wouldn’t have to settle for being some crusty, pot-bellied dudes fourth wife at the age of thirteen only to be divorced with no recourse when she becomes too old for his sick tastes.
Stop enabling paedophiles, abusers, and sinners. Enable women–they are the tide that lifts all boats.

They don’t want to empower them ! That’s the issue ! They are happy as the women are ” impoverished ” that way you keep them in line. That’s why it has become govery meets job to find husbands for them .

Haba Alhaji,.. were you voted into power to marry or to advise men to marry more wives? its obvious you have a sawdust brain and those who voted for you has wasted another 4 or 8 years of their life. Nigeria is where she is today cos we have had leaders with no agenda to develop this nation only for their pleasures alone. you should rather be a dog sir than human begin maybe you would have been my bingo then i know you can mate with any dog even the one that gives birth to you. nonesense

    Nigeria and class. ..SMH!
When China made the decision of one family, one child, it was for all.
But Sanusi wants the right to have many wives and the poor, one.
Meanwhile, the so called rich, are rich because they take advantage of the poor. Most of them use the system.
Family Planning is for all. Stop the discrimination! !!

BTW, after setting up marriage for Muslims, be sure to do that for other religions in Kano. Everyone pays taxes right?

To think that these people run our country…we are in trouble! !
