So sad… 2 Soldiers beat up physically challenged man for wearing military camouflage

This is really disheartening.

To see that the ones who have sworn to protect us are those who have become the source of harm, is heartbreaking.

A physically challenged man was battered by two soldiers in Onitsha, Anambra state for wearing military camouflage.

They threw his wheelchair away and continuously dragged him on the floor, hitting him with sticks.

This has been somewhat of a norm in Nigeria and authorities have to call military personnel to order and mete out necessary punishment.

This madness has got to stop. This has been going on for too long. Military officers assaulting ppl wearing camouflage. Unfortunately their leaders have failed to address this. I saw the video and my jaw dropped. How can they assault him so??? See them dragging him. I hope a lawyer can take up the case on the victim’s behalf.

These animals should be brought to justice!!!!!!! Is this what military training is about?!!!!! A person that is not physically challenged should not even be assaulted in this manner because of some stupid outfit. Who knows what we can do please? I’m done with folding my arms, sighing and saying it is well. It is about time we get our power back as the People. You swore to protect us and yet we live in fear of you. I am seriously done!!!

I didn’t know it’s a crime. But this is appalling. Transfer of anger. I just don’t understand how naijas are always quick to physically torture, act evil towards other average naijas but will become so passive when it comes to standing for the right things. Look at how they beating helpless man but when it comes to real issue, simple speaking up to stand for Nigeria, they will become cowards.
Majority of Naija military are barbaric. Infact there needs to be mental health checkup. Some of them lost their mind already.

SMDH… Why are these people allowed to walk the streets in military gear? Some inarticulate idiots waxing tough because of their guns. If the Nigerian lawmakers had any sense, they would have legalized guns in Nigeria by now. Or banned the police and military from walking around with guns.

Did it occur to you that maybe just maybe someone have him or he even picked it up. He’s crippled for Gods sake. May it never be well wth the soldiers that did this and if you support this as well. May the same be meted out on you. Animal. I’m so angry.

You are a really dull person. Very short of common sense for making such a thoughtless and shallow remark. I don’t know if you’re really in the military as you claim, but I hope you all meet your match someday. Yes, a gun wielding civilian that’ll blow your f**king brains out.. Cos I’m sure behind that vehicle, and under that uniform, you amount to nothing. Just a really bloody fool Nigeria is unfortunate to have in her service.

    • what????

      February 8, 2017 at 6:43 pm

Who the hell are you? People read your comment and “waka pass” because they do not want to respond to an imbecile like you. You sound like a person pretending to be a military officer. Looking for attention by any means are you? I will not “waka pass” but will put stupid people like you in your place. Are you really trying to justify the brutality effected on this physically challenged man? Go and get a proper education before you comment here so that you can write English properly. Bloody fool.

If you choose to add to Nigeria’s problems by behaving like a rabid dog, you will still suffer with us, bloody civilians. A useless Nigeria affects everyone: rich, poor, woman, man, Ibibio, Tiv, Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa, police, army, and bloody civilian. The next time you’re about to abuse a bloody civilian, just remember that you’re part of the reason why someone you love could potentially die from poverty or bad healthcare.

That’s what the dundee doesn’t know.
Who will protest with you or fight for your course when the government refuses to pay you?
Yet another shortsighted silly Nigerian who can’t do basic reasoning let alone construct simple sentences.

Give a Nigerian any semblance of power and he abuses it.

USELESS BLOODY OFFICER. Do you hear yourself? No sense of decorum and feeling at all. I see you have lost all human feeling. What gives the Military(only in Nigeria I have noticed) patent to the camouflage? It is worn by civilians as fashion in other countries. So it is right that he was treated in that way as someone who can’t defend himself physically? Dragging a human being created by God on the ground in such an inhumane manner. They have to be dealt with in the most brutal way. The officers must not go unpunished.

You’re an idiot and a bloody useless human being.

Without your uniform & those weapons you brandish at civilians, you animal, what would you be apart from a rabid dog of some sort that somehow learned how to walk on its two hind legs? Clever dog, you at least deserve a bone, no?

You are a bloody useless waste of federal funds and the uniform which has given you this stupid sense of “rights”. Feel free to digest these words in the deepest part of your soul.

And do you know what’s hilarious? You and all other senseless brutes who’re wearing that uniform unworthily will never really amount to anything other than viscous alcoholics with absolutely nothing else to show for your lives. This is the truth. The very civilians you are so disdainful of….. They will actually live more fulfilling and worthy lives than you.

For every lash, blow and word of abuse you’ve sent their way, they will climb 100,000 times higher than where they left you at the bottom of the ladder and they’ll actually succeed in life. How does knowing this feel? So, if it behooves you, then please continue on the downward spiral to the nothingness you clearly desire for yourself. For as long as you continue to tow this path, please find a way to comprehend this absolute truth – your country has no need for you, either in or out of uniform.

Boko Haram hasn’t been defeated and you’re here talking about respecting fabric?? Of all things??? What a total moron.

Whatever that might be, do you treat a criminal like this, let alone a crippled one ?

In America and Europe, handicapped receives special preferences.

Even the Notorious serial killer, Vampire wasn’t even handcuffed for his trial.

So what can we do about this? Is there a way we can petition for this matter? Can we get a location of where this happened? Who can we forward this to to take this matter up? Where do we go from here? I hate feeling helpless in situations like this. This is disgusting. Those soldiers are not humans, definitely not humans. I refuse to believe we bleed the same blood. No way.

It’s not their fault. If the courts, with help from human rights lawyers, would force the various military arms to pay hefty damages, then the military would invest more time in properly training its members to avoid losing money. As long as there’s no repercussion, we’ll continue watching videos like this.

  13. Blackbeauty

    February 8, 2017 at 6:53 pm

These animals in uniform need to be tamed. I saw a soldier slap a grown ass man because the guy inadvertently hit him while opening the door to alight from a vehicle.
An honest mistake for which the guy would have said sorry and they moved on. No, he had to show him he’s a bloody civilian by humiliating him so. It’s really appalling and something should be done.

  14. Ekene

    February 8, 2017 at 6:54 pm

In the US, wearing camouflage is seen as a form of moral support for the military. They even give you a thumbs up.

Why is our society different ?

    • Mz Socially Awkward....

      February 8, 2017 at 10:17 pm

Simply because of the appalling stupidity & illiteracy (a combination of both is a truly dangerous thing) that exists in certain ranks of our army. And the so-called enlightened ones that like to preen and feel like something special due to the fortune they had to attend prestigious military academies like Sandhurst in England (Buhari, how market?)…. unfortunately for the rest of us civilians, those military bosses are too bloody myopic, self-centred and lacking in any leadership skills to teach the lower cadres any better.

Thus, the cycle of ignorance is entrenched.

  15. Ekene

    February 8, 2017 at 6:59 pm

Once more, I am suspecting that those Main Market traders who couldn’t sell off the camouflage trousers or whatever in their stick decided to give it out.

Thats obviously the only cloth that man has, and he is struggling to prevent them from getting him naked.

I have never been as enraged as I was watching this video.
What can be done about this matter? I’m wondering if the person that recorded this got some identifying information about the soldiers.

    • Mz Socially Awkward....

The number plate of that van should identify the patrol group who were in that area on that day.

    February 8, 2017 at 11:03 pm

We are always so quick to judge. Well for anyone who understands igbo and is willing to listen, you will hear the recorder say in the background that he was deceiving them i.e the guy isn’t truly handicapped. So while i fully condemn such brutality, as i believe he should have been arrested and sent to prison for OBT, the truth is that he is a criminal.

    • Miss_Flygerian

      February 9, 2017 at 3:03 am

Erm, what are you talking about? I understand Igbo and I heard nothing of that sort. The person recording kept on saying “the soldiers will kill this man”

  20. Martins Ogochukwu

    February 8, 2017 at 11:49 pm

I believe people should learn to stay away from trouble. We all know that soldiers don’t condole the habit of pardoning anyone who camouflage with their uniform. Of all clothes in the market, why must it be military camouflage. On the order hand the soldies had no human sympathy to have beaten a physically challenged man with such much brutality. I implore military authority should look into this menace of soldiers harassing civilians instead of protecting them. Besides there should be other better ways of correcting erring citizens. In this country both civilians and non civilians should learn to know their bounds so as for us to live in peace.

Forget them being soldiers. They are supposed to be humans first. Who does that to a living creature that can’t fight or run away?? It is spineless, evil and frightening! Things like this, because they are not human, don’t deserve to continue their lineage. A firing squad is too honourable. Take them to a crocodile pit and let a better creature than them show them what helplessness feels like. I couldn’t even watch the whole thing. I felt so cruel and those men felt nothing??
