A Recap of Congo Fashion Week Pre-Event show in London

The team behind Congo Fashion Week CFW recently hosted its very first London pre-show event. The event was put together in order to give the London crowd a taste of what’s to come in October when CFW hosts its 6th annual 4-day event in Kinshasa at the Pullman Grand Hotel.

It was a force to be reckoned with as attendees feasted their eyes on beautiful designs from designers including Yemzi, Becca Apparel, Sarah Carter, Abisola Akanni, George Adesegun, and Majekal.

To top that, the event which was hosted by YouTuber AudreyBee, and Canadian blogger The Fancy Nancy featured a stellar performance by rapper Avelino, and a beautiful dance routine by Congolese group, Z5.

After setting Lubumbashi on fire with the first pre-show of the season back in July, the CFW team did a good job. The front row was filled with the likes of Adebayo Jones, among other African fashion royalty.

Problem with Africa and misplaced priorities… Lagos Fashion week, yes!! South African Fashion week yes. Congo Fashion week?????? A country rife with strife!! and poverty! One of the most blessed countries in the world… Congo is a slave to this fashion rubbish… Sapeaurs living in shantys but spending thousands on designer wears… Colonial slavery at best!! Africa WAKE UP!!!!

Why so many salty comments on this thread? And one even wrote an epistle full of bile. So much sadness in a single life, wow.
Is it because it is not Nigerian fashion week? Why the need to pull another country’s efforts (even if not to your supposed standard) down? You guys should go and lick some honey and sugar combined. Mschew.

Would it hurt to encourage others or point out what can be done to improve subsequent shows? Why are people so quick to lash out with such distasteful words and insults. Every country is different and started differently, if your country conducts an amazing fashion show this would have been the best time to chip in some advise or pat others on the back for attempting this.
