President Buhari fires Babachir Lawal & Ayo Oke

President Muhammadu Buhari has sacked Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Babachir Lawal.

Femi Adesina, the president’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, confirmed this development in a statement issued in Abuja on Monday.

Adesina said Buhari approved the appointment of Boss Mustapha as the new SGF.

Adesina said the president also approved the termination of the appointment of the suspended Director-General National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ambassador Ayo Oke.

The statement read:

President Muhammadu Buhari has studied the report of the panel headed by the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, which investigated allegations against the suspended Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr Babachir David Lawal, and the Director General, National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ambassador Ayo Oke.

The President accepted the recommendation of the panel to terminate the appointment of Mr Lawal, and has appointed Mr Boss Mustapha as the new Secretary to the Government of the Federation. The appointment takes immediate effect.

President Buhari also approved the recommendation to terminate the appointment of Ambassador Oke, and has further approved the setting up of a three-member panel to, among other things, look into the operational, technical and administrative structure of the Agency and make appropriate recommendations.

Boss Gida Mustapha is a lawyer, management consultant, politician, businessman and boardroom guru of considerable repute.

His was the former Managing Director/CEO of the National Inland waterways Authority (NIWA).

He was born in Adamawa and attended Hong Secondary School, in Hong Adamawa and North East College of Arts and Sciences Maiduguri Borno state, crowning it with WASC and HSC in 1976.

He earned his Bachelor of Law (LL.B) from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 1979 and was called to bar in 1980.

Mustapha did the compulsory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) – Directorate of Legal of Legal Services at the Army Headquarters and was in charge of review of Court Marshall Proceedings from 1980 to 1981.

    Great, now Malami, Kyari and Dambaza must go… Buhari needs a mix of fresh minds and backgrounds if he is earn my respect and win the next elections. We would also like to see a cabinet reschuffle. Moving in the right direction??

      Win next election ke? Is there a drought of humans in Nigeria?
      Why should we be lead again by a certificateless 80 years who acts after we carry placards? He fires Oke and Babachir Lawal, employed another Northerner and the EFCC is not permitted to pick them up?? They should go home and enjoy? Wale please come off it.

      Don’t be fooled Wale, allow the frail old man retire to Daura in peace.

    So are we now to applaud PMB for doing the obvious months ago? This is just a distraction to divert our attention from the Pension guys scandal (whatever he calls his name) . its so ironic that this termination is just occuring now. Shady all the way, there is no sincerity in this so called anti-corruption fight. I am sure the sacked guys are not going to be handed to EFCC. BUNCH OF JOKERS!!
