We have no apologies for seeking Buhari’s reelection – El-Rufai

Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has said he has no apologies for seeking President Muhammadu Buhari’s reelection in 2019, Punch reports.

El-Rufai said this after 7 governors, including himself, met with the president at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The 7 governors, all from the All Progressives Congress (APC), and from the northern part of the country, had reportedly joined the president for the Friday Jumat service at the state house mosque, before proceeding to a brief meeting.

The governors at the meeting were Abubakar Bello of Niger, Ibrahim Gaidam of Yobe, Yahaya Bello of Kogi, Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano, Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna, Jibrilla Bindo of Adamawa, and Simon Lalong of Plateau.

El-Rufai, speaking to newsmen after the meeting, said:

We are politicians and those of us you see here want the President to contest the 2019 election. We have no apologies for that.

We believe in Mr. President, we want him to continue running the country in the right direction.

People can speculate about 2019, we have no apologies. Whether they are right or wrong is beside the point.

Everybody is entitled to his own opinion, but as governors, and most of us here with the exception of Yobe Governor, are first time governors, we are interested in continuity and stability and we want the President to continue with that.

As governors most of us are first timers and we need to continue chopping belle full of national cake. Shamelessness of the highest order! Continuity of the spiral of decline to the pits of darkness

See their ugly faces and smelling mouths! That’s how God will eliminate you people one after the other….kontinu o! You don’t have the masses at heart…you’re seeking continuity to benefit from alone.

@baka, don’t judge too harshly because I’m quite sure that Southern governors are queuing up, earnestly trying to get appointments to visit and endorse Buhari for 2019. No be 9ja again?!

Nigerian religious hypocrisy: You go from prayers right to supporting a failed and evil regime that has been unmoved in the face of economic destitution and worsened insecurity of the country.

Also, when did the Middle belt states of Kogi and Plauteau become “Northern states”?

Let’s face it, historically those “Middle Belters” have always considered themselves to be Northern. A lot of them understand or speak Hausa, not Yoruba, Igbo or Ijaw. When the counter-coup took place in 1966, the Northern officers chose Gowon as “their person”. One of the advantages of being in the middle is probably that you can decide to identify as Middle Belt or Northern, depending on the political climate. 🙂

      @ Dodo
This Dodo is a real mumu. How does speaking language make us one and the same? You speaking English, does it make you an English man? Stop giving us this warped history about Gowon.

I so ashamed to be from Plateau State, what a useless, shameless sell out governor, there have been rumours that you are not actually from plateau state but I never believed it, I am beginning to believe it now because no true plateau indigene will sell out his people the way you are doing, we are slowly and deliberately being wiped out and you are busy kissing their behinds.

One thing I am confident in is, there’s time for everything. Men Proposes, God disposes.
Shameless garbage. Trump is there for a reason, to reveal his true heart and that of many Americans.
That’s how Buhari and his sycophants will be put to full shame this next election. The time for Nigeria to change is here

These hausa/fulani people think Nigeria belong to them. They want evil to continue as long as it benefits them. I pray, God of heaven will rule Nigeria with an iron fist. He will raise up a leader specifically appointed by HIM. Enough is enough. He will change the hypocritical, lukewarm, greedy, wicked hearts, two face heart of Nigerians. The leaders are also reflection of naijas in general.
Many who are insulting these leaders will do the same if they get to power.
