U.S. President Donald Trump has been nominated for the 2018 Nobel Peace Prize, Henrik Urdal, Director of the Peace Research Institute, Oslo said on Thursday.

The nomination ended on Wednesday, but the five-member Norwegian Nobel Committee is yet to formally register all the nominees and can add their own proposals when they meet at the end of February.

The Nobel Peace Prize was endowed by Swedish industrialist and inventor Alfred Nobel and was first handed out in 1901.

“It has been awarded 98 times to those who “have done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations.

“It is also for the abolition or reduction of standing armies, and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses.

“Trump has been nominated by an American,” Urdal of the Peace Research Institute said.

The institute is unaffiliated with the Nobel Prize.

Urdal said the argument made for Trump was similar to last year’s, citing Trump’s “peace through strength ideology.”

The UNHCR was also nominated by a member of the Norwegian opposition Socialist Left Party for its role “in standing up for refugee’s rights,” Norwegian news agency NTB reported.

The Russian opposition daily Novaya Gazeta and human rights groups and activists who assist torture victims in Russia were nominated by other party members, it said.

The White Helmets a volunteer rescue group in Syria, and Congolose physician Denis Mukwege, who has assisted victims of the country’s civil war, were also nominated again.

A parliamentarian from the Progressive Party nominated Iraqi-Kurdish Peshmerga forces for their role in combating Islamic State.

Last year’s prize went to the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN).

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) was established by the Federal Government of Nigeria in May 1976 to gather and distribute news on Nigeria and cover events of interest to Nigeria at the international level for the benefit of the Nigerian Media and the Public.

he deserves it. he single handedly fought the corrupt establishment (hillary clinton, news media, etc) and won. say all u want about mr. trump but u can’t deny the fact that he is a fighter. America’s economy has improved drastically. unemployment rates in the black community has gone done. when last did u hear about terrorism in america? terrorists are afraid of trump cause they know trump would mess them up if they try nonsense. congrats mr trump.

lol Damn, Bruno. This is exactly what Trump will say. Congrats, you have been schooled well under Trump. Just be dogmatic, and throw away any form of logic and sense. It takes a lot of skills to be a consistent pathological liar and to claim other people’s work as your own. It’s also easy to blame others because it takes the pressure off you.
Do you mind showing the statistics of black unemployment gone down in the last year? And what do you say about Russian investigation?
The last main outside terrorist attack we had was under Bush, September 11.
We’ve had homegrown terrorism or does it only apply to Muslims and brown skin. I’m guessing, a gunman who kills hundreds of people in Vegas is not an act of terrorism.

Whatever one may say about President Trump,i believe he deserves to be nomitated, at least for standing up to the Arab world on the issue of the God ordained truth of the ownership of Jerusalem in dispute for centuries now.

Thats not peace, if anything it triggered more conflict. You cant completely deny a group of their homes and land just bcos you believe you are entitled to it.
Expect more conflicts and wars. Arab world are prepping themselves. They attack unexpectedly8

According to former Nobel committee chairman Geir Lundestand, “It is very, very easy to be nominated and very, very hard to win the Nobel peace prize,”

Among who is qualified to nominate someone for the nobel peace prize, are:
    – Members of national assemblies and national governments (cabinet members/ministers) of sovereign states as well as current heads of states.

Meaning, Paul Ryan can nominate Trump for the nobel if he wanted. What would it have taken NAN (or Bella Naija) to do a little googling and offer context to readers?

Nigerians can’t figure out Nigeria and its weak leaders yet they know Trump and the United States via CNN and coming here to give birth. If only we could channel such energy into figuring out when out country became a “s—thole” just saying.
