Gombe Senator reportedly held Hostage by Constituents - BellaNaija

Joshua Lidani, the senator representing Gombe South District, is being held captive by his constituents, Premium Times reports.

Lidani reportedly paid an unscheduled visit to Talasse, a town in his constituency, when protesters besieged him.

Lidani is reportedly hiding in the palace of the emir of the town, with protesters standing outside and demanding he come out to “answer some of their questions.”

One of the protesters reportedly claimed that Lidani “refused to visit Talasse since his election despite several appeals, only for him to sneak in today.”

The Gombe State Police Command was said to have reported to the scene, but left to avoid confrontation.

The protester added that other youth groups have also blocked adjoining villages and towns where Lidani will have to pass through on his way out. He said:

Apart from those at the emir’s palace, several youth groups have also blocked all other roads the senator may seek to sneak out, not just in Talasse here, but other villages along the road as well.
