Diego Maradona was very expressive during Argentina’s 2 – 1 win against Nigeria‘s Super Eagles on Tuesday, praying and jumping and giving the middle finger to Nigerian fans.
Looked like all of it took a toll on him, though, as he needed help getting back to his luxury box, ESPN reports.
The 57-year-old legend was reportedly treated by paramedics after the match, and was checked for low blood pressure.
He later shared a photo of himself on his Instagram, revealing that his neck hurt a lot and he suffered a decompensation during halftime, and was advised to leave. He, however, refused to leave, he said, as the match was too important.
¿Cómo me iba a ir? Come sarei potuto andarmene? I want to tell everyone that I am fine, that I am not, neither was I interned. In the halftime of the game against Nigeria, my neck hurt a lot and I suffered a decompensation. I was checked by a doctor and he recommended me to go home before the second half, but I wanted to stay because we were risking it all. How could I leave? I send a kiss to everyone, thanks for the support!
