Presidency lists killings carried out across Nigeria under PDP Administration

Presidency lists killings carried out across Nigeria under PDP Administration | BellaNaija

The presidency, describing the opposition party People’s Democratic Party (PDP)‘s declaration of 7 days of mourning for the Plateau killings as “irresponsible politics,” has listed the killings carried out during the party’s rule.

The killings were listed in a statement, titled “Plateau and PDP’s Crocodile Tears,” released by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina.

PDP is playing “cheap, infantile” politics, the statement read, dancing on the graves of the dead.

The statement is not to say more people were killed under the PDP government than under APC’s, it read, but to show that the killings have been happening for a while.

See the full statement below:

The sad and unfortunate killings in Plateau State over the weekend have been turned to opportunity to once again play irresponsible politics, particularly by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which says it is declaring seven days of mourning.

These are dolorous times that call for deep introspection on how cheap human lives have become, and the proffering of actionable ideas on how to get out of the bind. But the PDP would rather dance on the graves of the dead, playing cheap, infantile politics.

The comatose and prostrate party is declaring seven days of mourning, during which flags in its offices would be flown at half mast nationwide. But unknown to the party, those flags had been forcefully lowered since its 2015 loss at the polls, and may remain so for a long time to come, because Nigerians are politically discerning, and cannot be hoodwinked by cheap antics.

A quick checklist of some savage and brutal killings in Nigeria during PDP rule, between 1999 and 2015, for which no national mourning was declared:

– November 20, 1999. Odi, in Bayelsa State, was invaded on orders of a PDP President. About 2,500 people killed. No national mourning.

– Between February and May, 2000, about 5,000 people were killed during riots over Sharia law in different parts of the North. No national mourning.

– In 2001, hundreds of people, including the old, infirm, women and children were killed in Zaki Biam. No crocodile tears.

– Between September 7-12, 2001, Jos, Plateau State, erupted in internecine killings. Between 500 and 1,000 people were killed. Flags were not flown at half mast.

– In February, 2004, at least 975 people were killed in Yelwa-Shendam, Plateau State. No mourning by the then ruling PDP.

– Between November 28 and 29, 2008, Jos was in flames again, with 381 deaths.
No mourning.

– In 2010, 992 people killed in Jos. Mum was the word.

– In 2014 alone, according to Global Terrorism Index, at least 1,229 people were killed in the Middle Belt. No mourning.

– Boko Haram killings in PDP years were over 10,000. PDP flags were still fluttering proudly in the sky.

Those who take pleasure in twisting statements from the Presidency may claim we are saying that many more people were killed under PDP than under President Muhammadu Buhari. It would be unconscionable to do so. The intendment of this statement is to show that wanton killings had been with us for awhile; this government is working towards enduring solutions; and should be given the opportunity to do so.

Even a single soul is precious, and no man should take a life, which he cannot create. But when tragic situations as had happened in Plateau State occur, such should never be used to play crude politics. Those who are wont to do so should have change of hearts, or lose their very humanity.

Comparing 16 years death census to three years carnage by APC means that if APC is give 16 years the whole nation would be exterminated??????.

I am now seriously afraid of buharis APC. Nigerians if you like vote for him again…….

You can imagine these animals in the presidency are comparing deaths???? May I ask mr. idiot how many more will die? The next and last batch will be you the wicked blood sucking rulers.

They are totally out of their minds. Such comparison should never have been mentioned. iCan even try to relate that PDP is playing some games with APC, no doubt, but to bring this shit up as a defense is totally unacceptable and foolish. These people think they are talking to some illiterates shar. What the heck is all these nah?

As much as these actions are terrible, I’m really glad Nigerians are learning their lesson with this evil old bat and his cronies. No matter how bad things are in Nigeria, you guys need to understand that it can always get worse. So if you think Buhari cannot do worse, by all means give him a second term so he can show you how bad things can get. Next time when someone sings change to you people, you can interrogate him better. I do hope Ada Nnewi and other idiotic southerners are enjoying their “change”.

  15. Not Nigerian

    June 29, 2018 at 11:19 am

I’m not Nigerian but I have one question for you guys, do you Nigerians regret voting this guy in.

What confidence do you have he won’t be back in office in 2019. After all the billions of retrieved stolen monies no one heard anything about it, he could use it to buy people’s vote.

Another question I had for you guys is why are yall always so scared to hit the street and demonstrate against what the government is doing against you. Tuface tries once and chicken out. I expect more demonstrations from yall to make your voices me heard as many African countries eg Zimbabwe, Togo, Ghana etc does. Nothing will happen if you don’t speak out, you cannot speak out sitting in the comfort of your homes and being cyber gangster with your twitter fingers.

Get permission and hit the streets in massive turnout for peaceful protest. You have the right to I will assume. Or?

This is the kettle calling the pot black to deflect criticism away from itself. This is just a nation of very wicked minded people masquerading as overzealous Muslims and Christians. Nigerians don’t have common sense of decency, morality, trust and compassion. They are extremely abusive and hateful towards each other just read comments in a Nigerian online forum and the amount of abuse and swear words used. This just shows that this is a country that glorifies hatred and abuse. There is no regard for life and property in Nigeria. Everybody hates each other and so they don’t think twice before killing one another in the thousands. They don’t think twice before starling billions from the national treasury and every tribe protects their corrupt billionaires and are proud to flaunt them as the richest man in my clan or tribe even if he hasn’t given them a dime if his stolen wealth. This is how evil people are from top to bottom and that is why the country despite its wealth, isn’t making and social or developmental progress. A country where the authorities prefer to enrich themselves by providing sporadic electricity supply so that people can be forced to buy their imported generators. It is not surprising that psychiatry practitioners believe that 75% of Nigerians suffer from varying degrees of mental illnesses and lunacy, many to the point of delusion that their sense if reality is completely warped. Other poorer countries in Africa are better developed than Nigeria. Nigeria has the highest number of people living in extreme poverty far below the poverty line. 50% of its population live in extreme poverty yet people will defend their multimillionaire tribesmen. Governments with allow the wholesale slaughtering of its citizens because the president’s tribesmen is carrying out the Act and he is afraid of criticising them or perhaps he believes that they have done the right thing. In theme Nigeria embodies a virulent wickedness virus that blinds them to seeing good and humsn decency and promotes evil and corruption.

Okay, let’s not make the same mistakes again.
    Who are the candidates running?
Sowore lost his integrity by the propaganda he used to bring Buhari into office.
He ,Infact need to apologize to Nigerians.
Even the dead knew Buhari was not the one. How come he did not know?
    Who objective can he be?
Which political party is he running under,
Which people is he running with?
Does he have the intention of RESTRUCTURING Nigeria?

Atiku and Buhari are not appealing either.
So, who are the other people running. What have they been up to, what offices did they hold previously, how well did they run those offices? Who are the people in his party, one person alone cannot do this job. What package do they have for us ,how will they deliver it,how realistic/ believable are they?
Folks,we are voting for individuals this time, not brand name political parties!

      June 29, 2018 at 3:05 pm

My dear sister, Sowore did not lose his credibility. He did not campaign for Buhari. He only stated the obvious.Goodluck was a bastard that we hoped would have put to use his Phd and his poor background to transform this country. Alas, we were all disappointed. Even if a monkey had contested against Goodluck, he would have won.We need a visionary leader like Sowore and we need active Nigerians like you to join hands together to win this country from these bunch of morons. We can only do it if we stick together.
