Seyi Shay sat down with BBC Africa What’s New? to discuss her music career, touring with Beyoncé and why taking her mum’s one advice has made her successful.

She spoke to Ben Hunte about moving to Nigeria and making it big in music, as well as the Afrobeats wave sweeping across the world.

    Her accent is confusing but the use of present instead of past tense…

      I actually found that to be a positive thing. She’s UK born but has lived in Nigeria for many years (I’m assuming) so naturally she’s picked up a Naija accent. Unlike some Nigerian entertainers who live in Nigeria for centuries but whip out the strongest British/American accent at the slightest opportunity just to try and intimidate ?

    Sorry but stopped watching at “I’m British but my parents are Nigerian” as if it’s mutually-exclusive to be both British AND Nigerian…smh
