FG declares Friday Public Holiday, “excluding those providing essential services and bankers”
Friday, February 22, has been declared public holiday by the federal government, TheCable is reporting.
This was contained in a statement on Wednesday by the Ministry of Interior.
“Federal Government declares Friday 22, February 2019 as work-free day. Those providing essential duties and bankers are excluded.
“The work-free day is to enable citizens return to their poling units for the reschedule Presidential & National Assembly elections.
“Security agencies have been directed to ensure safety of lives and property before, during and after the general election,” the statement said.

Nigeria has a long way to go. This is the same election that is held in many countries on weekdays without bringing the entire country to a halt. People vote before work, at lunch time or after work.
