Eunice Atuejide drops out of Presidential Race, endorses Atiku

The presidential candidate of the National Interest Party (NIP), Eunice Atuejide has opted out of the 2019 presidential race only a few days to the commencement of the elections.

Atuejide also declared her support for the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar.

The 39-year-old said in a statement released on Tuesday, February 19, that the race is between All Progressive Congress (APC) President Muhammadu Buhari and Atiku Abubakar (PDP).

“To my mind, the political party platform is not the real issue nonetheless, it’s either Alhaji Atiku Abubakar under the PDP or President Buhari under the APC this time. I make bold to state unequivocally that I stand with Atiku under the PDP this time,” Atuejide said.

Eunice Atuejide stated that her decision to opt out of the race was tied to the postponement of the February 16 polls, which she said was the deadline for her ambition.

The lawyer then reiterated her commitment to “always put Nigeria first” adding that the incumbent president must not be allowed to continue to rule the country.

This is the full text of my endorsement statement in favour of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar @aatiku and Mr. Peter Obi @peterobiofficial of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) @officialpdpnigeria. All of us, particularly those of us we love to call the alternative candidates know that it is STRICTLY between #Atiku and #Buhari come Saturday 23rd February 2019. I specifically call on Kingsley Moghalu @moghalukingsley, Fela Durotoye @feladurotoye and Omoyele Sowore @yelesho – you all know you CANNOT win the Saturday elections so what’s your reason for REFUSING to fight for this country? You all refused to come together to help form a united front to go up against #APC and #PDP when the opportunity to do so was still open. Now that that window of opportunity has closed, we have only #Buhari and #Atiku to choose from. If you guys are smart, you know by now that NONE of you could win the Presidential election scheduled for 23rd February 2019.
